I just can't get enough of the auras in these recent pics of yours.

They are very familiar to me. My journal is full of these sorts of things. Filling up canvases and killing negative space by filling it with ever expanding and shifting silhouettes. Using different directions of brush strokes to imply textures is one of my favorite parts of comic sketching. It gives a feeling alike to half-toning but more organic to the sketch itself.
