The Oath of The Abyss
It was a dark evening in the spell ravaged wastes of the Dune Sea, the moon up in the sky as a gentle breeze carried winds across the desert planes. With a mighty crack!, a large blue time-gate materialized from nothingness as a form emerged from its chaotic brilliance. Xindur was a magnificent green and black dragon, adorned with golden scales and armor and blue horns humming with the magic of time itself. His golden eyes reflected the bright light of the moon above him as the wind blue the cold desert sand across his body. With a might heave, his mighty body took flight as he hunted the legendary artifact he had been tasked with acquiring.
Several hours later, the great dragon stood beneath the towering spires of a grand temple, in awe of its splendor. “So this is the Temple of Askar, much more grandiose than that heap of ruins in the future. Why would the Orb of Xanithar be here I wonder? Perhaps it could have something to do with its disappearance in the future!” He a mighty heave, he opened the large stone gates as gazed upon a spacious temple with plentiful lit torches along its many pillars and passageways.
Xindur entered, immediately feeling a strange energy emanating from further within. It must be the Orb! Such a relic would definitely display this kind of power, but something seemed different about it. It hummed with something foreign to him, not affiliated with the Seers’ magic. The dragon raised his guard as he travelled through the empty passageways until he came upon the inner sanctum.
At the center of the temple was a mighty black and gold snake, who’s coils were partially submerged beneath a black pool which composed a great altar. His frame was characterized by a grand torso with four arms, drapped with white silks and gold jewelry that would make the greatest emperor jealous. Upon his head stood three orange eyes, one on the forehead staring particularly creepily at the dragon himself. The snake’s arms opened in a welcoming manner as the Timelord entered the chamber, beckoning him closer as numerous dark-skinned worshipers stood in attendance at the foot of his shrine as they chanted softely. This creature had been expected him… that could mean nothing good.
“Sssssuch a powerful entity seeking an audience, gracing me with his presence. I am flattered great Timelord Xindur.~ What brings you to my cruel corner of the desert.” His honeyed hisses leaving no remarkable impact on the time dragon. He only barked in response, “silence creature! I seek the Orb of Xanithar, lost to the eons in the future. I know its here, and if you do not relinq-.”
Vuul’s echoing laughter filled the spacious halls, cutting off the dragon midsentence, the snake’s curling grin causing the dragon to sneer. “Oh that little bauble… you’re looking right at it of course”, he pointed to his chest to his glowing orange eye on his chest. “I’m afraid the orb has been put under… new management.~”
The dragon winced his eyes as his eyes turned towards the serpent’s chest. The orb sent dark tingles down his spine as he looked upon it, the serpent finally unveiling its true dark aura. It was corrupted, tainted with the magic of the void itself; this was an abomination! The dragon took on an aggressive posture as power began to surge in his clawed hand, the illusion of normalcy shrinking away as the true nature of the sanctum was revealed. The pool was a basin of black goo, the worshipers coated within the same corruption! “Unhand that artifact void-spawn! I will not have a being such as you taint such divine relic. Relinquish it or be purged from the timestream!” Vuul chuckled once again, his cold serpentine eyes staring right through the dragon.
The dragon spoke up again as the snake slithered within his pool calmly, not providing an answer to the Timelord as the orb sunk into his chest. “These are no worshipers; these are your slaves! You have corrupted them with your void-essence creature! This heresy ends now, I will banish you to the abyss you belong!” With a mighty lunge, the dragon prepared a mighty bolt lightning as he struck the god in the chest.
Vuul’s entire upper body exploded with a brilliant crackle of lightning and time magic, the goo splattering on the dragon as he pierced the creature. The adrenaline leaving him alert as the god’s goo remains lay on the ground. “That was easy, too easy.” He told himself. He looked back to the god’s coils, eyes wide as the orb emerged from what used to be his waist and rush towards him. The dragon took a step back in terror as a sense “What sorcery is this! What… what are you!”
The god’s remains around him started to shift, suddenly latching him to the ground and spreading over him as it retrained him in the orb’s glowing vicinity. With a mighty *boom*, the orange light filled his vision as the magic was forcibly drained from his body. A sudden feeling of fatiguing filling his entire figure as the goo around him withered away as he fell on his chest. “Wait… no! Why can’t I move… I can’t teleport…”
The absorbed magic pooled into the snake’s body as his upper body was quickly restored, a mischievous smile filling his new face. “Tsk tsk, so brash timelord. Isss that any way to treat your host? Such accusations, even ssstriking me down! This Orb of Xanithar is a ussseful bauble, it absorbs magic and empowers the wearer with its essence. As a creature of goo, this is a very useful trait indeed to repair superficial damage.~ Your magic and vigor are mine now timelord, you are beaten.”
The timelord drooped his head in defeat as the snake cackled. The dragon barely resisting as Vuul grasped his body with his tail. “Worry not timelord, I have plans for you. As rude as you are, a disciple of your status would be far more entertaining. You have been deceived, and soon you will see the world as I do. All will witness the rise… of a god!” The dragon futily struggled against the massive tail as the goo began to coat his body. “You… you’re insane. A god? You’re nothing but an aberration…”
Vuul’s eyes furrowed as one of his claws coated the dragon’s muzzle with goo. “That’s enough from you. I was having a moment! You lords of time are always such killjoys, ruining my monologues!” He left out a snort of frustration. “Soon you will see thing my way, I hope for your sake you embrace enlightenment Xindur.” The dragon gasped as the black goo rapidly assimilated across his body, the substance reaching down into his throat as it began to fill his insides. It reached into his ears, tearing into his mind as he was bombarded with dark whispers. Whispers of service, deception, and obedience… The very essence of the void tearing his mind apart as his vision went dark as his eyes disappeared beneath the murk.
For a moment there was silence, the dragon’s body in wreathing pain until he ceased feeling altogether. His mind screaming with a multitude of voices until all voices merged into harmonious silence. Trapped in his murky cocoon, within the aethereal nothingness of his devastated mind. He felt his vigor and magic slowly return… changed. It was a new feeling, one which felt strangely welcoming. He could feel the dark power of the abyss, twisting him… making him anew within this dark baptism of goo. Rather than writhing in pain, he writhed in pleasure. He should have resisted the influence, but it felt so good. So good… to obey… to embrace the abyss…
The goo coated figure finally relaxed within Vuul’s grasp, left standing knee-deep within the dark murk of the shrine. There was a deep, ominous silence within the sanctum as the worshipers stood in awe. The dragon’s black muscular goo-coated frame shifted, muscular frame coming to life as he shambly moved his arms. His body was magnificent, adorned with golden symbols and a grey underbelly similar to Vuul himself. Xindur’s eyes, now a maleficent orange, peered open with sharp dilated pupils as a sly grin formed along the dragon’s fanged muzzle.
The goo below him started to shift, as if in anticipation as the dragon looked over himself without a sound. His horns lit up with new orange plasma as his body began to fill with his godly power once again. His eyes grew wide, pulling his head back as he suddenly released a mighty roar; a jet of brilliant flames erupting from his mouth as the raw power finally streamed from the dragon’s body. A third eye opened with a sickening slurch on the dragon’s forhead, an endearing mark of the true extent to Vuul’s corruption as his transformation completed.
“GrahahahAHHAHA!” Maniacal laughter filled the room as the corrupted time dragon unfurled his dark wings as he took to the air. Brilliant orange sparks and goo exploded from his body, leaving an ominous aura around the new servant of Vuul as he flexed his new body. “I feel… powerful! Unstoppable even! A ravenous desire to spread…” His orange eyes blazed with dark desire as he turned once again to Vuul and kneeled before him, leaving the snake only to admire his newest creation with a mix of pride and satisfaction.
The snake smiled warmly as he placed his gooey arm on the dragon’s shoulder, “Now you finally see as I do. Yesssss, a desire to spread my avatar. To spread the word of Vuul to all corners of the land. You have finally awoken from the nightmare, and embraced the benevolent light of Vuul’Khan. Now, pledge yourself to me my paladin! Ensure that my light reaches all corner of the land and remains timeless.~”
Xindur paused, complating the consequences of this pledge… he was a timelord with other responsibilities and loyalties. This would be viewed as treason! But… Vuul was a benevolent god who had finally showed him what truly mattered. He had blessed him with a new form, a gift, and in turn a new purpose! The dragon bowed down his head in submission as he recited boldly,
“I swear myself to you, great Prophet Vuul’Khan. You who sacrificed yourself to save us all from destruction, who perished a martyr at the gates of this temple.”
“I swear to spread your word to far off lands great shepherd, to protect and bring more to your flock.
“I swear to protect your light with all of my might and courage!”
Vuul beckoned him to his feet. “You humble me great paladin. I accept your pledge with joy in my heart. Another soul saved from the malice of the gods and shown the true way. Surely my paladin requires a weapon! I grant you my mighty spear! A powerful artifact infused with my power to protect you as you spread my love to all. May it lead to the ruin of your enemies, and prosperity to those under your protection. May they fear your even the mention of your name… Vuul’Xin.” From the goo rose an ancient spear teeming with the power of the void, golden with engraved golden eyes like his patron. “Thank you, my lord.” The dragon spoke with a breathless admiration as he accepted his new blade and name with pride.
“Now… my paladin. We have much to discuss. Come with me, join me in my sanctum as we discuss the future.” Vuul withdraws into his dark pool, his paladin nodding and in turn submerging his majestic form into the murky abyss of his god’s shrine.

Really love the design on this one..
And the story is very 😳😳
And the story is very 😳😳
Any willing worshiper can join Vuul's great Crusade, if they are willing to have a black and gold makeover as well of course :p
that guy remind me one of my oc relate as golem statue snake man with a soul of criminal became tyran and just possess the statues as decided to melt down golds with the dagger sacrifice it was bound as prison.
Xindur has it a bit backwards. The Orb is what corrupted Vuul. Well, the Orb together with some of Xanithar's other toxic trash.
Well its more complicated than that, Vuul used the orb to absorb the malefic energies from the murkmites who threatened to invade his home. The orb was sealed with his corroded body to prevent the dark magic from spreading, allowing his body to become a host for the now corrupted orb and its energies in his tomb. He was arisen by the first acolytes of his order, rendered insane by dark whispers from beyond, and now thirsty from conquest and corruption!
