You awaken in a dark forest, miles from anywhere else, lost and confused. Something stalks you through the trees, getting closer and closer, too large and loud to be human. Until finally he reaches you, and you look into the unblinking eyes of a grinning bear. "Do you know what it means to be devoured?", he asks.

Concept for a VN character, before I realised that this level of detail takes far far too long and I couldn't realistically do enough expressions in this manner. If you wanna use him for anything you can

This does look an awful lot of detail for a single portrait. I will admit. But maybe it's because of the intricate cross-hatching for the head and arms? I'm not sure I've seen this particular art style of yours outside of a few particular moments in Castle Nox, but that's what sticks out to me in the "too much to repeat" department.
Though, most visual novels do tend to re-use a particular angle with some blank faces for emote edits, or draw a limb to edit along for the required pose. I'm not exactly sure how helpful this comment can be for your situation, but I do know a thing or two with how VNs typically handle their work.
All in all, the portrait's fine! Ask a friend who works in this if you're really hesitant on anything.
