Third of five sketch commissions I fielded at Anthrocon 2024 Artist's Alley, this was an unusual (for the present...this used to be a much more common practice) sketchbook commission for fulminar . Theme was "artistic freedom", a subject that normally promotes brain freeze (insert dial-up modem sounds). Fortunately I came up with one of my OC's that isn't seen much (because I have yet to formally introduce her to my regular cast), Kallista, who is seen lying in bed, taking a selfie while holding a large tube of Pixy Stix in her mouth. 'Cause she likes that stuff, and with her tendency to burn off large amounts of energy going full tilt, it'll no be doubt be consumed soon just prior to her next round of zoomies :D
Technical:
As with the other pencil sketches, not much room for innovation aside from massive leveling-up in skill that didn't happen that day. The bigger effort came in cleaning up the pic for posting to FA. Maybe I'm too fussy about these things, but the cleanup took a bit longer this time, since this being in a sketchbook (hence why I left the rings in the scan), the paper is a rougher texture than the bristol I normally employ for sketch comms at cons, and as a result there are smudges a-plenty. Cleaning these up fell to the CSP airbrush tool and various pencil brushes to touch up lines that weren't quite there. The biggest change came when I was almost about to pronounce this one done when I realized that one thing off that had been bugging me but I couldn't put a finger on it...till I set to enlarging the phone she was holding. I had just about finished that re-draw when I noticed I had drawn her hand backwards O_o
Whipping up an extra layer I sketched out her hand holding a phone, this time in the correct orientation, resized it to fit her arm, then traced it back onto the original layer. Other than slightly re-shaping her toes, this was the only re-draw. So Fulminar, if you want a full-size version of the cleaned-up corrected image just let me know. Finishing this off with the same crossbuck logo and FA URL as the previous upload to finish off this piece.
Pencil on sketchbook paper, scan cleaned up using Clip Studio Paint EX. 3 layers, 18.6MB .CLIP file. Project ID# 533
