This is a long arc with the same characters but I feel it needs it. Virgo has killed and has had to quickly deal with it in her own way. Now Capricorn finds herself with the same decision before her. Virgo understands part of what Capricorn is feeling and that it may even be necessary some time, she just wants her to weigh the consequences of what she is doing. Regardless of what Capricorn chooses to do with Basilisk's life, Virgo offers to be there for her and be her friend.

The ever present issue with superhero things I guess. They know the villains are killers. They know they'll likely end up escaping and killing again.
Let them live anyway, when it'd make far more sense to remove the threat entirely.

Strange how no one brings up how it's the law that fails here.
But then again, superhero universes only work if you can suspend your disbelief.

Yes, as much as I enjoy super heroes...
The science behind their powers is questionable to say the least and would have complications that would make them less effective.
What kind of society would allow some unknown individual to fight crime?
Wouldn't they have to be constantly on alert for emergencies instead of living their lives as reporters or CEOs?
How hard would it really be to uncover their secret identity? Especially with modern technology.
Do they really need a secret identity? Doesn't it just make things more complicated? It would certainly make it impossible to testify in court.
And I've long thought that if people really did have super powers they would be much more effective if there were in some kind of army with a chain of command, uniforms and organization.
But I don't think it's the law that fails here, nor is that any reason to kill Basilisk.

Many a time the right things is the hardest thing to do.
Killing her would be so easy, and likely save lives in the future.
But like Virgo says, in the here and now, it may not be.
o-o Man I love this comic and I love your writing.

Thanks very much! I worry so much about my writing that it comes off too heavy-handed or unrealistic so I'm glad you hear that.
I like how Virgo counsels Capricorn about this. You can see that she's the conscience of the team.
There is also how many lives will it cost down the road if the demon gets used to having its own way when it comes to killing. it has to be a last resort or there may be no Rebecca at all someday.
Looks like Capricorn's undergoing the same decision that my character in Colmaton underwent.
Of course, Yashira's a real demoness, tied to a mortal soul, and the two of them went on a revenge trip against a Middle Eastern Sheik, who had kidnapped her and her half sister.
When they finally got done, a lot of the Sheik's guards were killed as the other captive girls took their own revenge to get free.

Ahhh the classic 'doing what's right vs. doing what's easy' dilemma.
Don't have to kill her, but those limbs look pretty shatterable.
Virgo should be ashamed of herself for what she's doing in that last panel, letting Capricorn saying she'll support. Capricorn's situation is not the same as Virgo's.
The only thing to done here is to subdue Basilisk and turn her over to the legal system and let them decide her sentence and punishment. It's not up for debate.
The only way to truly fight evil is to be better then evil, at all times. To treat them with mercy, dignity and civility even if they wouldn't do the same. Do so otherwise would corrupt our very understanding of morality, our standing as a moral person and our very existence as a moral society.
Some might say that killing Basilisk is the greater good, killing her before she kills again. But that is the greater practical good. The greater idealistic good is arresting her instead. And in my book the idealistic good always outweighs the practical good. So the only thing to be done here is arrest her and if she escapes and kills again, so be it. Better to make a sacrifice on the altar of morality then to sacrifice morality on the altar of practicality.
Otherwise what's to stop a society from slipping into cold, cruel, ruthless pragmatism? One that's indistinguishable from the very forces of darkness they seek to protect themselves from?
To put it as simply as I can, if these two murder Basilisk, Zodiac wins but good loses.
I hope that Capricorn will spare Basilisk and both Capricorn and Virgo will see the error of what will be a one time wavering that will not be repeated. Otherwise this comic will be ruined for me forever.

Saved by her eye beams and Virgo.
Honestly I thought she was literally about to lose her head.
Honestly I thought she was literally about to lose her head.
I just wanna hug her...just hugging her...hugggging her very close....
I had a feeling that Cap was going to "turn off the lights" for Basilisk ( And I don't mean killing her, but something else, less deadly and much more gory)...
It is good to see Virgo standing by her side, giving her moral support instead of judging
