Anyone ever heard of the Absolute Universe? Well, here's my take on the idea with my own superhero world. Though unlike the Absolute Universe in DC, THAT is not an alternate universe. The three of them are trapped in a matrix/black mercy scenario by Lady Genocyde, in made up realities designed to slowly break them down physically AND mentally.
Apex Nightbringer: a hacktivist for the Truthseakers, an Anonymous-style group who gets smaller and smaller with each member arrested or un-personed. With each friend and comrade taken, he becomes more and more ruthless with his work. Upon ending up the last member free, he completely lost it, renaming the organization to Nightbringer and no longer holding back about who he attacked.
Apex Silverstar: Silverstar is still a Valkyrie, but is trapped in the Lovecraftian realms of Disorder and forced to fight it's mind-warping wildlife to survive every day. She's been at it to this very day since Ragnarok and has become this violent, half-mad fighting machine, covered from head to toe in the blood of all the horrors she killed. There is barely anything of her original personality left, but there still is something here, buried deep and unseen.
Apex Sentinel: Sentinel is seemingly a normal human who got taken away by the government to be brutally experimented on and tortured while never being told why, even though everyone there seems to know why. Being treated like a lab rat, every day filled with pain, and the ambiguous situation he was in, served to fill the poor man with hate and despair. But will he act on it when the time comes?
