For those in the US:
If you live in a state that does not allow gender marker changes on your driver's license and/or birth certificate, you can do it via your passport (for now). You should get this taken care of now if you haven't already. A passport can typically be used in place of a birth certificate for identification purposes, such as when applying to jobs and potentially when moving to a new state to obtain a new ID.
