Celia
1- A merchant fleet was going to meet the wizard to ask for his magical favor for a fee of course, a lifesaving favor for the fleet’s captain, Celia. She was quite a capable captain despite her youth, and she inherited her father’s fleet, and she was perhaps more talented than her father, but she inherited something else from him, a heart condition.
Her father died before his 30’s and she was in her mid-twenties now; she feared her inner ticker would stop before she could life a full life.
2- Unfortunately, something happened that would shorten Celia’s and the rest of the crew’s life’s short abruptly, the wraith of the wizard perhaps, the wraith of the sea.
A storm
There were no previous signs of a storm before, so Celia figured it was the wizard’s doing, and the storm was increasing its rage.
Celia managed to get most of the crew to the lifeboats, she stayed behind as the fleet sank into the sea, Celia lost consciousness as did the remaining sailors.
3-Water filled her lungs as she and her inner ticker was about to give away, when she felt…she was still able to feel…something pulling her, grabbing her by the leg, by the waist, like it had multiple arms or so.
She felt a warm kiss draining the water out of her and giving her much needed oxygen.
She could see a quite blurry image, it was something large, enormous, female and somehow enticingly beautiful.
4-“Close your eyes” the blurry figure said, “don’t open them just yet just focus on the sensations, on the images."
Celia was locked on a kiss with a stranger, yet, it felt so nice, so right.
Celia could hear her heartbeat run faster than ever before, this was bad, as the heart increased the rate she feared for her life, but instead of stopping she felt the old, damaged ticker get repaired from within and two more blobs of flesh appeared next to it, two additional hearts.
But this was impossible right, what sorcery was this?
5- Celia did as she was commanded and didn’t open her eyes, she felt...tentacles?... Unwrapped her body like some sort of present, she was naked now, but instead of feeling cold or numb her own body was adapting quickly to the experience.
Soonish, she felt warmth from what she could figure was an octopus creature.
6-An image came to Celia’s mind, the image of her savior, an octopus lady creature, and as the kiss went on, she drank a strange liquid coming from the octopus lady’s mouth. Something tasting like fish and whisky and perhaps more potent, more intoxicating.
7-As the liquid entered her bloodstream, her bones turned to jelly and then nothing and she could feel her arms moving a strange way, against her will.
They extended and extended again, growing the same suction pads, an octopus would have but her hands were still human, with odd padding in between.
8-Then her naked legs got closed together and fused, her own hips and cocooned legs expanded until they became quite large, like a closed huge flower bud.
And just like a flower bud, her legs split to eight tentacles (see reference).
9-Celia’s neck was developing her own gills when the kiss broke, and the intoxicating liquid was no longer poured into her.
10-She opened her eyes to a new reality, she was changed, no longer the human Celia, but into a Cecaelia, a creature from myth, a sandy colored Cecaelia with quite nice, fluorescent blue rings.
Celia and her savior next to her, another Cecaelia by the name Sereia.
11-Sereia was a powerful sea witch that lived a life of intense loneliness, before Celia came to her life, she had no one to talk to, all she did was admire the sea life and explore but it felt lacking at times.
Celia and Sereia became friends, as they talked all day long and soon, neither of them could picture life without each other, they held tentacles and became much more than just friends.
12-But after a while I came up with an idea and told my love about it-said Celia
“Since you are a powerful witch, can’t you make others, you know, like us?”
Sereia gave it a thought, company would be nice, but she didn’t want to change people into sea creatures, what if something fails?
So, she tried another option.
13-She took a female dolphin and separated her from the pod, used her magics with her and she soon was changing, the upper half contorted as it adopted a torso like disposition even with breasts.
14-The upper flippers elongated and reformed into arms and hands
15-Her head became more female but still with a dolphin snout and the cute blowhole.
16-Our new marine marvel was given a name and was taught bits of human culture that she could use, she absorbed the knowledge like a sponge.
She soon called her pod and she insisted on all of them to be changed, as so they did with my love’s help.

17-The Dolphinmers were not quite the mermaids we envisioned, they were quite sociable and playful, also extremely lustful, exchanging partners having sexual relations between male and female and even same sex. We were starting to think they were mostly dolphins than…well…people.
18-19-Next were fish mermaids, closer to our idea of mermaids from myths. They were usually shorter than dolphins and much less intelligent, yet capable of learning and behaving a bit like humans. Their reproduction rate was astounding as they lay eggs and soon, we were overpopulated with them.

20-A queendom was developing where we were at, we were the queens, the dolphinmers were the architects and the intellectuals and the normal fish mermaids and tritons were the workforce. We built underwater structures like homes and nurseries.
But the experiments didn’t end there.
21-Next were the sharkmers, which is not clear if they were a good or bad experiment since they were highly aggressive and ate the fish merpeople, even their love making was aggressive.

22-At that time, I could notice so many couples having the experience of life making and I wanted that for myself, even if it is a selfish desire- Celia thought-
Every day I felt jealous as more of the dolphinmers got pregnant, I was there when they gave birth, or when the fish mers had their egg babies. Sharkmers made me uneasy though, so I didn’t come close to them
23-Sereia was still doing her experiments with different sea creatures, creating manta mermaids, squid ceraelia and so on, but I lacked something dear.
24-I kissed my love, and we had love making, although she noticed I was a bit absentminded until I accidentally expressed.
“I want to have a baby”
Sereia got lost in thought on the following days, she was a woman, how could she grant me this selfish desire?
25-She crafted a potion for herself, a temporary potion, to turn herself into a male Cecaelia.
Before we made love again after she asked me if I really needed this, I said yes. She turned into a handsome male Cecaelia and we had rough sex, unlike the tenderness she showed earlier, she filled me with her seed and I was happy.
Soon after I felt life inside of me, not one but many lives.
“What did I do?”
26-Sereia and I forgot all about managing the underwater queendom and we focused on each other while my belly grew larger each coming month, until I felt full, so full I could burst.
Until I felt a strange need
Like jelly, one, then two, then a dozen and more and more eggs came out of me
I spent hours giving birth
No
It was almost a week
And soon the floor was filled with thousands of eggs, my babies.
27-Like any good mother, I lay guard on them, sometimes skipping a meal or two.
And I forgot all about sleeping
My instincts kicked off, warning me that my eggs could easily fall prey to sea currents or predators.
28-As weeks went by, I felt increasingly weaker, hungrier. Mermaids offered me food or assistance to watch my babies, but I refused them. At times I even attacked them, I was not thinking.
But thinking was not my forte right now, my thousands of lives I gave birth to were.
I could feel Sereia watching me from afar, she was mortified.
29-I had all kinds of paranoid ideas, what if Sereia was behind the storm that killed some of my crewmates and turned me into this? What if Sereia, knowing that I’m losing my mind over my children, decides to make me a favor and kill them instead?
Or what if she gets tired of ME?
She couldn’t get close to me, not anymore.
She was just close to me and yet so far away…
30-Until the passing of time became irrelevant and a few eggs hatched, followed by the many the following day.
And afterwards, a clawing hunger.
I left
31-Days passed and Celia was nowhere to be found, there were search parties everywhere until she was found dried up in the sand next to the wizard’s tower. Celia was fine a few days ago, still somewhat sane and healthy.
But Sereia realized something
Octopi, even human-like like Celia, must die after their babies are born, it’s in their nature.
32-Sereia made a silent promise to herself and to Celia, that if love kills, she will never fall in love to prevent the same tragedy from happening.
But as the queendom kept on expanding and she saw happiness in so many couples Sereia kept on reminding herself, that love is but the fleeting illusion of happiness, at least it was for her and Celia.
Even if love is wonderful to everyone else.
She wasn’t allowed to have such happiness; it was not for her.
33-Life does not have to be fair, at all.
She had such power, at the cost of loneliness, or perhaps if she could find herself a new lover
No
She would be alone for the sake of The merpeople
She had to be strong
She had to be.
Sereia’s heart agonized at the thought of finding love and dying, to reunite with Celia once again. Or to be rational and lonely,
those thoughts would never let her be.
Ever
