This is one scenario in the book "The Journey to the West", that features bondage. Briefly summarised, a sea dragon prince ruins a rare pearl and for this "crime", he is sentenced to be beheaded by the celestial court. While waiting for his death penalty, the poor dragon is bound and suspended up in the c rain clouds. Buddha and Guanyin make an intervention and can persuade the Jade Emperor to let the unfortunate dragon atone for his sin, by transforming him into a horse to serve as a mount for the Tang Monk on his journey to the west.

Awwww, the dragon is so damn cute! He does not deserved to be executed like that >w<! His expression is so adorable as he is being caresed by the godness! But I loved the way he was tied and also gagged above the clouds! I am glad that the dragon could get a way to pay for his crimes x3! Really amazing art and your drawings would be perfect to illustrate the tale x3!
Thank you very much for the nice compliment, me Lord. *bows deeply*
This is one of awfully many scenarios, that feature bondage scenarios in Jounrey to the West.
And honestly, the crimes that justifie an execution are sometimes ridiculous in this tale, but I think, it was written to make cynic remarks to the gouvernment and beurocracy in China during the Ming dynasty arround 1500, where people were executed for allmost no reason...

Man XD even though the concept behind it was nice to interpretate, I can´t stop feeling bad for someone who look sad enough to have tears in their eyes ;w;
Well, he has tears in his eyes for a reason. Being bound in sight of the scafott is a devastating situation.
All the more I have the wish to protect the dragon here.

I asume that the tears is because he is atoning for his sins and tjat would be a reaction ofna change of heart. At least it is my supposition XD
Interesting Scenario brought to Illustration. You could kinda get a short comic out of this: Dragon destroys pearl (accidentally?), is sentenced to death but bound before sentencing, several members of Celestial Court tease and punish Dragon before execution (poking, swinging, tickling, etc) which nearly breaks the Dragon's spirit before being rescued and offered redemption ... and some apologies from his tormentors.
This Dragon kinda gives off a hybrid vibe of Sisu from 'Raya' and the Dragon from 'Hidden Dragon.'

Little cruel games with a vulnerable dragon
Thanks. The dragons from Vaya looked adorable, but Hidden Dragon I have never seen.

A very classy take for an ancient story. The story has had multiple interpretations visually, and yet, this one is unmistakably yours. Love those values!
Thank you very much.
Yes, indeed. If two persons read one and the same story and are asked afterwards to draw the characters, I think, the results will differe for sure.

It is a chance at not just redemption, but also a new experience.
Yes indeed.
Being bound and suspended in close sight of the scafott nobody will ever forget.

I wanted to be the dark cloud the bondage device itself, the bindings are made from the cloud itself.
Indeed it is. Have you read the novel?

In my oppinion this dragon was a nice guy. As a horse, he was a really good boy.

Awwwwww, poor beautiful dragon! I'm so glad he didn't get his head cut off. Lol, though I heard it's a bit of a running joke that the horse-dragon does next to nothing in the story. XD
Thanks much.
Yes, he is rather passive, except for one time, where he helped to save the Tang Monk from peril. But it was no wonder, for he was ordered to be only a horse and nothing more.

You're welcome! :D Oh really? I didn't know that last detail, but it explains a lot.
Glad hes able to atone for his mistake. Unsure if he did it on purpose but very nice. And as a horse he will be tied up often too! Just not as much as this but he looks amazing with his long form suspended like that.
As far as I remember, it was not mentioned, if the mistake was done out of purpose or if it was an accident. My assumption was that it was done out of accident, because the dragon was really a good boy as a horse throughout the journey to the west.
Thanks much.
Thanks much.
Glad he did his new job well. Maybe well enough to be returned to noodle. But thank you for the info I've never read the tale before so its very interesting to see it like this.
He indeed is returned into a noodle dragon after the journey is done. He is allowed to bath in a lake, that could brake spells and appears a dragon again, for the Tang Monk doesn´t need him as a mount any longer, because he is granted Buddhahood by Buddha and is now able to fly on a cloud like Sun Wukong.
Thanks much.
There were so many names in the novel, I hardly could keep them all in mind.

I fell in love with the designs of those Loongs.

The Celestial Court is to be reckoned with, from their unbreakable rules to their peremptory judgments.
Wow...Journey to the West,as a Chinese I'm very surprised seeing our culture here...?
Anyway,you drew so well.

The game black myth wukong inspired me to read the novel and I liked it very much.
Especially the vast amount of bondage scenarios.

I have an idea..
If When Sun Wukong was pinned down by the Buddha at the foot of the mountain, his ass was exposed instead ofhead..?

That would have been awkward 500 years X3c
