Land of the Lost Monsters Revealed
On this side of the Atlantic, any news about a big screen Land of the Lost remake might well be met with so-what shrug. The show – an Irwin Allen-esque adventure about a dad and two kids thrust into a world of dinosaurs and other fanciful creatures – was a big hit in the States in the 70s but virtually unheard of over here. Anyway, Universal is producing the new movie version, to be directed by Brad (Lemony Snickets) Siberling, replacing the original "family" with three adults (though one of those "adults" is biggest-kid-on-the-block Will Ferrell). USA Today has a sneak peek at the movie’s main monsters, the Sleestak, and they look... very ’70s.
X-Files
Shock Till You Drop has four new pics from the upcoming X-Files movie. Looks like Mulder and Scully are getting a bit frisky in one of them...
Zero-G
20th Century Fox has acquired the movie rights to a sc-fi videogame that’s still in the development stages, according to The Hollywood Reporter . Zero-G, in which a major US city is destroyed by superweapon, is being made by Union Entertainment, the company that gave us The Darkness.
The Hobbit according to del Toro
Guillermo del Toro has been talking to The One Ring.net about some of his intentions for the upcoming Hobbit movies. Of the second he assures fans, "This second film is not a 'tag on', it's not 'filler', it's an integral part of telling the story of those 50 years of history lost in the narrative. There will be certain things that we will see from the first movie but from a different point of view, but it will feel like a volume, in the five volumes of the entire story."
