Cameron Diaz is officially out of retirement in the ‘Back in Action’ trailer

Cameron Diaz is ending her decade-long acting hiatus with “Back in Action,” a Netflix two-hander she stars in alongside Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx. The streaming service released a teaser trailer for the action comedy.

Diaz and Foxx play former CIA agents who gave up that dangerous life when they started a family. But when their cover is blown, they’re pulled back into the world of espionage. And you know what? They still like it. “For the first time in a long time, I felt alive again. I felt like ‘the bitch’ again,” Diaz’s Emily tells Foxx’s Matt, intercut with a scene of them fighting assassins at a gas station, with Matt using a pump as a flamethrower and Emily jumping off the hood of an SUV for a takedown. And their kids are seeing them in a whole new light. If you’re looking for another movie with car chases and quippy banter, “Back in Action” has it.

In addition to Diaz and Foxx, the cast includes Kyle Chandler (“Friday Night Lights”), Andrew Scott (“Ripley”), Jamie Demetriou (“Fleabag”), McKenna Roberts, Rylan Jackson, and Glenn Close (“The Deliverance”). Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses”) directs and shares screenplay credit with Brendan O’Brien

Jamie Foxx experienced his health scare toward the end of filming, and his scenes were completed with body doubles.

“Back in Action” streams on Netflix on January 17.
