My only concern would be it gets really sad towards the end, but then again, from my experience, children literature tends to be a lot more heartbreaking than adult literature. I also think you could try reading it first, it would be a pity not to enjoy it yourself! (less)

Hello, does anyone happen to know who did the lovely little illustrations in this book? (black and white, have an ink and watercolour feel to them) I don't own a copy so I can't check the annotations, and no online description features the illustrator's name...
