Tammy has always tried to be prepared for any calamity life might send her way, but a sexy, lion man-beast is way outside the norm. He’s huge, has the most exotic, golden cat-eyes she’s ever seen—and she’s so terrified of him, she’s speechless for the first time in her life. He’s stalking closer, growling at her, and she’s too unnerved to even flee.

Valiant has always hated humans. But when he gets a whiff of the adorable human female who has invaded his territory, he’s forced to reexamine his feelings on the matter. Her fear scents of pure, sweet temptation and the closer he gets, the more appealing she becomes. Once he’s got his hands on her, he isn’t about to let go. One thought will change his life. MINE!

Before Tammy can regain her senses, she’s flat on her back in Valiant’s bed. Now he just has to use every inch of his big, buff body to convince her to stay with him forever.

I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.

No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.

I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.

5 "Mine Mine Mine" Stars

*Spoilers*

“Thank you.” He remained silent for a long moment. “You never thank me for protecting you, Tammy. You’re mine. It’s my duty and my honor.”

OMG Now that is what I am talking about!!!!! This book was the bomb baby.... I think I am in love with Valiant too! My favorite book so far. I can tell I am going to love the hell outta this series!

"Come on, Valiant, you’ve terrified her enough. What did Justice say about trying to fit in? Remember that talk? God knows, I do. It’s not polite to scare the living shit out of humans.”

So this book is the 3rd in the New Species series. Tammy is a human working for the caterers that Justice hired for a party. Given the wrong directions she ends up in Valiant's yard. Scared to death she can't move or speak. She thinks this big, big, scary as hell man will kill her, it shocks her when he informs the men trying to save her that he isn't going to kill her, just breed her and keep her as his mate forever! Valiant never wanted a human for a mate they are too small, breakable, and he doesn't trust or like humans after all they did to him and his people, but that all changes after he sees Tammy. He wants her for his own and will have her no matter what. Now he just has to convince this little frightened human to be his and never leave him. That should be easy right?

“Don’t,” he growled softly. Tammy froze. “You don’t.” His lips twitched and his eyes narrowed a little. “Don’t what?” “Don’t…” She frowned at him. “Stop scaring me.”

Valiant:

 photo BeFunky_null_4_zpsecmbtnxr.jpg

Damn Valiant was perfect...... He was sweet, and vulnerable with Tammy. He was very sexy, protective, possessive, and a powerfully strong bad ass!

“You’re everything to me.” Valiant suddenly slid off the couch and walked on his knees to face her. His hands cupped her face. “I’m happy for the first time in my life and you are the reason. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Tammy. I know you’re surprised that I want to marry you right now but I know what I want. That is you.”

“I growled when I thought about flipping you over and mounting you from behind. Riding you hard and fast makes my blood boil. I purred because I want to feast on you. I’d enjoy lapping at your pussy with my tongue to taste you again.” Her heart pounded and her body heated up. “We could do both.” He nodded. “Good plan.”

Tammy:

 photo images 822_zps3srlqifb.jpg

I loved Tammy too. She was funny and brave and stood up to big bad Valiant, when most would piss themselves just being around him. She was sweet, and I loved that she was very talkative. I also liked that she wanted to move a little bit slow and didn't rush into anything it made her more real.

“Don’t growl at her.” Valiant’s angry glare shifted to Tammy. “I don’t want anyone near you.”“Deal with it. I’m making a friend.” She turned back around and smiled at Breeze. The woman looked surprised as her gaze lifted to meet Tammy’s. “Don’t mind him. He’s,” she shrugged, “protective.”

“I am not ashamed of you. You are better than any human man I’ve ever met, Valiant. A thousand times over. You’re incredibly sweet to me, you always seem to want to take care of me, even though I’m not sure about fattening me up.” She grinned. “And the sex is amazing. You’re smart, caring, and while some things about you drive me nuts, such as how aggressive you can be, I kind of like it. I actually really like it when you get all possessive. I don’t care who knows we’re seeing each other. I just don’t want anyone seeing me naked besides you. Okay?”

 photo img-thing 1_zpsefdcjaqx.jpg

“I love you, Valiant. I love you so much.” “I love you too and you make me happy that you love me.”

I loved this book it was funny, romantic, and steamy. Tammy and Valiant together are adorable and their chemistry is explosive. You can't help but love them as a couple. The plot was great. It draws your interest and keeps it. I loved 927 and I hope to see more of him, maybe with breeze! I am on to the next book I almost couldn't wait long enough to even write this review I wanted to start the next one so bad. Yay
Justice's book. Woot Woot! On that note here is my favorite moment from the book:

Breeze laughed. “To her, he is a sweetheart. We shake in fear when he is angry. She laughs at him. Just do not be afraid when you hear really loud noises today, Jessie. I will have to put you on the third floor by their suite. You will need a room for a few days while you stay to help with the woman. Valiant is lion mixed. Just remember that.” Jessie appeared confused. “What am I missing?” Tammy knew her cheeks warmed with embarrassment. “He roars after sex. On that note, I’m leaving.” She waved. “I hope to see both of you at the wedding. Come if you can.” “She was kidding, right?” Jessie sounded stunned. Breeze laughed. “No. She was not. She is what your kind call a ‘screamer’ too. We all know when they breed. We look forward to when they will go to Valiant’s home just so we can get some undisturbed sleep.”

Valiant is one of the species that doesn’t like humans…he’s more animal than human, so he stays deep in the forest away from everyone else…in the previous book, he was looking forward to meeting the female new species and finding one of them for a mate.
Well, life has a few surprises for him….I felt he could not be as mean as he portrayed himself to be photo images_zpsda1648a4.jpg….okay, so he’s not a fuzzy…. photo tumblr_m2n121xCGR1rq70dlo1_500_zpsb66ab4d4.gif… for heaven’s sake, he lives in a beautiful Victorian house, deep in the forest, which he’s lovingly renovating… photo download3_zps9fcfdb34.jpg
He meets the human Tammy Sashta….a sassy and really cute woman…and pow pow….Valiant is lost….from the first moment he sees her…..it’s like photo images2_zps3ed6ba8f.jpg and Valiant by Laurann Dohner photo de0319a3-1c06-4997-afc9-fe6f0a144066_zps3d5e1a0a.gif

As we have all learned about men who are also lions, they are awesome!! Valiant is right up there with Curran, ladies. You need him!

Valiant was adamant that he would never fall for a human because they are too small and frail. But, when Tammy, a very small human, gets lost and ends up at his house, he finds that voice inside of him that all of these alpha males seem to have that says "Mine". And, he says it a lot.

Everyone is shocked, while also finding it hilarious, that Valiant has bonded with Tammy. When she gets hurt and they need Trisha, the doctor, to come over and check her out, Slade answers the phone:

Tiger: "Hi Slade, Valiant is requesting that Trisha come look at his girlfriend...She's been injured." He paused. "Human." He paused again. "It's a long story."
"Slade is bringing Trisha. He said he usually wouldn't bring her out this late but there's no way he's missing this."

And, it is totally worth it because Valiant gave Slade a lot of crap about mating with a human and now Slade watches as Tammy gives Valiant a lot of sass and he takes it.

After she and Trisha ask him to leave the room:
Valiant growled at her.

"Stop that," she snapped. "Stop growling at me. Can you just do one thing without making me argue with you?"

He stormed out of the room.

Slade laughed and a look of joy passed over his features. "This was so worth getting dressed to see."

Tammy can hold her own against the mighty alpha lion-man. He was practically feral before she got hold of him. She's like the lion-whisperer or something.

But, as usual, things won't be easy for our adorable couple. In this book, we do have the hate groups, but there is a much bigger problem going on that is the source of Tammy's would-be abductors. And, through this we get a new character, simply named 927. He is about as feral as the New Species can get, and yet he is awesome! I can't wait to find out his new name and get to know him better.

This book is exciting, fun, and really funny. Valiant doesn't understand slang or human ways, which I always get a kick out of. Like I said before, I love when non-human things are trying to human. It's adorable.

Tammy: "I know you'd kick ass and take names."

Valiant: "I don't care what their names are if I want to kick their asses."

True, Valiant. You can just call them "Bleeding" and "Crying". That'll be appropriate.

On top of Tammy and Valiant's story, we get Trisha's baby, an intro to Justice's girl, and the joy that is Breeze.

"Hello, small human. I have brought you food."

Breeze is also feeling it for 927. I hope they get a story!

Oh, and we also get the worst game of "fuck, marry, kill" ever! (So far, he's only chosen "kill".)

Great supporting characters

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 🙃🥹☺️🤭

The heroine: Tammy - catering company employee who was given incorrect directions to the party she was catering and she ends up trespassing on Valiant’s property. She finds herself in his yard being stalked by him while others try to get him to back off and leave her alone. However, she is ovulating and he wants to breed her.

The Hero(es): Valiant - He is New Species, and has a home in the wild zone of the New Species Reservation. The New Species that live there weren’t so lucky in the genetic experiments as some. Many are feral and more animal than human and have sworn to kill any human that encroaches on their territory. Valiant is 6’5”, has cat eyes and, leonine features and long hair.

The Story: Valiant takes Tammy into his home before the people in his yard are able to call for reinforcements and is easily able to have his way with her. Valiant was introduced at the end of the last book Slade, where he helped Trisha and asked her to find him a mate. He wanted one of the New Species females because they are tall and strong, but he wants to keep Tammy as soon as he sees her.

I have to admit that I didn’t like Tammy at all from the start. She goes from shaking and unable to move or speak when he first came close to her, to giving him snarky and bratty comments after he takes her hostage, to hooking up with him within minutes of meeting him. It was a bit unrealistic without even taking into account that he is part lion and looks like it. Plus I like a heroine who doesn’t give it up so easily.

This book was a bit too steamy for my liking. I mean I enjoy the steamy books, but not when the main characters seem to get it on at least once per chapter or so, which is what it seemed. I ended up fast forwarding through multiple love scenes because I had enough. The story got much better toward the end. I am really liking all the supporting characters. In this one, 927 was a favorite.

**4.5 Valiant Roaring Stars**

"I've decided I'm keeping you forever. You're mine."

description

This story starts off with a chance meeting between Tammy and Valiant… that was never meant to happen. Tammy finds herself in a sticky situation, at the wrong place and defiantly with the wrong person. Terrified of the huge male growling at her from his front yard, Tammy is frozen from fear with nowhere to go. That’s until he pounce and carries her off into his house.
description

Valiant is known for his hatred for humans. His mistreatment at the hands of humans has stayed with him long after his freedom. After spending so much time alone during his capture, because of his fierce and pronounced New Species looks, Valiant is ready to find a mate to fill his lonely days with companionship; preferably, with a tall and sturdy New Species female. All his plans go to hell the minute he smells Tammy, the very small and ovulating human. His instant attraction and need for her can’t be ignored. All he can think is MINE and I have to keep her forever.

He's spent a lifetime locked in a dank cell, hurting most of the time, and always so lonely.
description

Tammy can’t help her attraction for Valiant. His huge, bossy and highly protective, but she’s not a push over that can be forced to do anything against her will. With her stubbornness and need to fill her every breath with blabbering, Tammy has the fierce Valiant wrapped around her little finger. But even with her growing feelings for Valiant, Tammy is hesitant to commit this beautiful and compassionate man, who is looking for a forever kind of relationship.
description

"Open up for me. I need that at least. Your scent calls to me so strongly I hurt. Let me lick you until you come, screaming for me. Let me enjoy your cream." He purred.
description

description

I did feel that the relationship and story line was tad rushed throughout the story, but things slowed down to an even pace after half way through. That’s when things really picked up and my mind was blown away. I felt emotional at parts where Tammy and Valiant were separated; and anxiety when the characters faced grave dangers, at the hands of New Species hate groups. I won’t give away anything away, but I do advise to read these books as a series, even though it’s mentioned that they can be read as standalone reads. Things just get better and fucking awesomely better as you read each book.

Mates jump in head first with this sexy, passionate and panty wetting series. You won’t regret it xx

Liking this series far more than the Breeds series by Lora Leigh. The stories just make more sense. The plots are tighter and the characters actions and reactions are more believable. They are disturbingly similar to the Breed series though. I do like how each story seems to be more complete in itself.

I really enjoyed Valient's character in this one. I enjoyed how he is so wild and aggressive and stuff but a total pussycat around the heroine. I like how he was vulnerable emotionally to her.

There were some giggles here especially at the first when they meet. She is a nice spunky heroine.

Looking forward to more of the series.

"Um, you look scary when you show your...um...teeth. They look really sharp."

He didn't get angry. In fact, her words seemed to amuse him greatly. "The better to eat you with," he teased softly.

Tammy's heart flipped inside her chest. "That's a bad joke, right? Please tell me you're just kidding."

"I'm not a wolf."
"I'm not wearing read."
"I still want to eat you."

She was shocked by his candor, and realized that no man had ever spoken to her that way before. He didn't attack her but instead seemed happy to just peer into her eyes. She calmed a bit. "I never thought I'd say this but you better be talking dirty to me."

Another reread who knows how many times. Valiant is a very, very close second for me in this series. He is so sweet and all he wants is a mate...someone to love who will love him back.
The idea of having a mate, someone to get to know, to share life with, had become his ultimate dream.

And you gotta love that "MINE" mentality.
She’ll be someone to talk to, someone to hold, and I’ll convince her we will be happy together. I can do it. She’ll want to stay. She has to. Mine. Mine. Mine. She belongs with me.

Mine! All mine. I’m not giving her up. Never.

He was definitely swoon-worthy.
He’d show her that he was the right male for her. A good protector, a lover who would see to her pleasure, and he wanted to make her smile all the time. He loved it when she laughed, the way her blue eyes sparkled, and the sound was infectious. It made him happy. She made him happy.

Tammy was a great heroine too. She loved Valiant because of his differences. Not in spite of.
She warmed him inside, made him happy, and having her against his body was just right. Perfect. They fit despite their size difference. She was wonderful to him in every way.

I know I will reread this one many more times. You just can't help but to love Valiant.

I really did enjoy this 'MINE' book.

Valiant is the third installment in New Species series and it was way better than the two previous ones. This book was fast-paced and exciting, so much so that it kept me hooked the whole way through. Thankfully, there's no filler here, never a dull moment!

Before starting this book, I didn't expect much from the plot and the characters, but I was surprised by how good they were. The plot was predictable, I could see it coming from a mile away, yet it was well-delivered and appealing enough to win my heart. The characters were more likeable, more developed, and more depth.

The romantic part was so sweet. The way they met and felt immediately attracted to each other was a mind-blowing moment. The sex scenes were all smoking hot and the chemistry between them was explosive. Valiant is an adorable New Species who impressed me with his possessiveness, mine, mine, mine, and mine! Well, how could I possibly not fall in love with this MINE man?

She’s mine and I’m never allowing her to leave me. I couldn’t survive without her.

He’d show her that he was the right male for her. A good protector, a lover who would see to her pleasure, and he wanted to make her smile all the time. He loved it when she laughed, the way her blue eyes sparkled, and the sound was infectious. It made him happy. She made him happy.
I can’t lose her. I just can’t.

Overall, this was my pleasant and lighthearted read. It is a good paranormal romance and suspense story with a touch of humor. I will continue this series for certain.

Mind crack.

That's what these books are.

And I fucking love it.

Valiant is definitely my favorite New Species male so far. He has an amazingly talented tongue. He is possessive as fuck (he says "MINE" so many times I lost count.) He's deadly and dangerous, but he is also insecure and sexually inexperienced and he's adorable in his naivety.

"You are mine. I would never hate you nor would you ever hate me. I would never leave you. Never. You are mine."

This has the token rape attempt and then the New Species rescue, it has Justice being an idiot as per usual and the big mystery in the second half actually had me on the edge of my seat with tears in my eyes at times.

Also, the sex in this is off the charts. BANG BANG BANGITY BANG.

"Why are we hugging? Are you thanking me for great sex?"

Yes, yes I am Valiant.

Sure, the writing and editing isn't fantastic, but you know what? I don't care.

This was just what I needed to bleach the memories of that fucking mermen book out of my mind.

"You never thank me for protecting you, Tammy. You're mine. It's my duty and my honor."

I kind of want to skip Justice's book, because he is such an idiot. But we all know I am going to read it because MIND CRACK.

Loves.

Ugh, where to start.
How about with Tammy, who is probably in my top five of the most useless heroines ever. Absolutely nothing about her stood out in anyway. She spends the first 15-20 pages (well, according to the kindle app on my phone, it may not be that many in print) literally frozen in fear and unable to speak. We aren’t even given a good description of what she looks like.
Then there’s Valiant, who we are told is actually more beast than man. He’s huge and imposing, and utterly hates humans. Then, Tammy stumbles across his stomping grounds accidentally and Valiant is instantly taken in by her. Why? Well because she’s in heat. Duh. Them’s the makings of a long lasting, loving relationship, didn’t you know? Valiant very quickly decides to let his massive *ahem* lead the way, and kidnaps Tammy and takes her into his home where he proceeds to engage in some animalistic intercourse with her. Consent is rather dubious. Tammy sort of gets sucked in and goes along with this but then conks him on the head with a lamp to escape because Valiant wants to keep her trapped in his home forever. This scene did not sit well with me. I think dubious consent scenes can be done in a way that makes them sexy and okay, as long as we know that the reservations the heroine has are very small and that she is definitely attracted to the guy trying to get it on with her. However, I really didn’t feel that this was effectively done in this story. Tammy was obviously scared of Valiant, even after the “lovemaking.”
I’ve also noticed that typically in these New Species stories, there is a scene where the hero is questioned about treating the object of his affection like a pet. The hero always denies this by saying “It’s not like that!” or “I know that she’s not a pet” and then he proceeds to spend the rest of the novel treating her exactly that way, and getting jealous over every single male she has contact with. Sorry, but that’s not romantic or sexy, and it’s not “alpha” either, not in my book. Love requires trust and believing in the other person, seeing them for their strengths as well as weaknesses. There is none of that in this book, but perhaps that’s because Dohnner didn’t really give her heroine any strengths.
Another grievance I have with Dohnner is that she seems to have this weird pregnancy/brood mare fetish with her heroines. Just about every one of them ends up pregnant or trying to get pregnant by the end of the story. Why? Not every woman wants to have a baby, and most wouldn’t want to have a baby with a guy they’ve known for a month or less. It just kind of icks me out for some reason. Lora Leigh has the same problem with her Breeds stories as well. And why are the potential complications never addressed? The canned HEAs get old and I just like my stories more intelligent and thoughtful I guess.

I really enjoyed this one. You can tell with this third installment that Ms Dohner is starting to be able to mold the characters and the premise alot better than with the first 2 books. Which I enjoyed also. This book though, seemed to be just a bit more developed with plot and certain characters. I do so LOVE Valiant. He is such a frightnening yet loveable sexy guy..err.. male. Still alot of the dialogue is a bit campy, cheesy, but adorable. This story did take on a much darker tone than the previous books, but it also had alot more emotion which I love. These characters are starting to feel more real. And with a little more depth and I love that.

You get 2 great surprises in this one. One of them is a new male 927. I love this guy. He's awesome. I'm looking forward to reading more on him and I'm eager to know what name he will choose for himself.

All of these books are light, sexy, cute, a bit erotic & with just enough suspense/drama to give it life. So if that is what you are looking for then I would definitely recommend this series. At least so far.

I'm now on to book 4.

Re-read. Could read again and again! Valiant is just so totally crazy for Tammy. I love how happy she makes him and how much he values her. His life at Mercile was so sad and he had so little contact with humans or new species you know he leads a lonely existence. He transforms in this book from a totally wild out of control animal into a male who is still a bit wild and out of control but is now a part of something bigger. A family, a community. I love, love, love this story!

Oh I loved me some Valiant!!! I hated the separation but I loved Valiant so I had to forgive Tammy for taken get a little time to come around. Overall the heroines in this series continue to not let me down. They are pretty tough and love their alpha males!

This is a great book! I loved Valiant- he is such a sweet hero! I loved it when he called Tammy sexy. Tammy was great too. She held her own with Valiant. I liked the other guys we met too- Justice and Tiger especially. The suspense portion was well done and the steamy times were very hot! I appreciated that there wasn't any drama with other women or men. Safety gang safe

Maybe you're going blind

Maybe you're out of your mind

I won't masticate her

But we're an animal

Baby, it's in our nature

Just let me keep her

I feel so lucky

You wanna hug me
What rhymes with hug me?

Hey!

Well, ladies and gents that how Val(iant) and Tammy's HEA story started.
It took one sniff, just one sniff and boy, our big lug has got it really bad.

Before reading this, I thought Breeze will be paired up with Valiant but that didn't happen. Tammy didn't disappoint though. I liked her - more than Ellie and Trisha.

And whilst there were too much growling of "Mine" here and no swelling of, um...you know what I mean *mouths* Valiant is different specie, I didn't mind at all.
This story offered a good balance of everything.
I laughed to their witty lines. The story had me on the edge of my seat. There was even a drama where my heart was squeezed and wept for Valiant.
And the sexy times? HAWT!.

The icing of the cake for me was when Tammy gets taken the second time around. Compared to the other stories I have read, almost all the time, the hero just comes out of nowhere to save the day when heroine gets into trouble,
killing the suspense and giving an abrupt ending of the scene. And I truly hate it when that happens.

This book, I am happy to report that the author gave me that continuity to savour every bit of goodness.

Immensely readable.
Highly recommended to Paranormal fans.

Rating it goodreads stars are not enough

Before ending this review though, it's a common knowledge to people that are close to me that I like animals. I grew up having dogs around.
My nanna had cared for so many canines that I couldn't count them on my fingers. She named them after every single fizzy drinks you can buy in the market. So naturally, Coke, Pepsi, Fanta, Sprite and etc for me were dogs. So imagine my angry outburst (this happened when I was little and I only knew this recently when my mum told me) when someone at a party offered us to drink Coke.
My nanna - naming her pets like a boss. She said dogs are sweet and addictive like sodas :)
Anyways, this book although a fiction, has triggered something. There's no New Species living amongst us but there are different kinds of animal species out there that suffer from cruelty.
If monetary is not an option, pls I urge you to read and share this website
http://www.worldanimalprotection.org.au
or any links that tackle animal cruelty. Pls share for awareness. This should stop. And we can help.
It's true when they say: Together we can make a difference.

4.5-5 stars

This was a great book! I just loved Valiant and Tammy! They are great together and Valiant is so sweet once he finds his mate...I want a Valiant of my own!

Tammy works for a catering company and is on the NSO (New Species Organization) site known as the Reserve for a catering job. She accidentally ends up in the wrong place when she follows an erroneous map. Unfortunately, the place she ends up is in Valiant's front yard with a very pissed Valiant growling down at her.

Valiant is a member of the NS. He's mixed with feline (seemingly mostly Lion) DNA and isn't as human looking as most of the NS. He tends to avoid humans but he does want a mate and has been trying to find one among the NS women. When he meets Tammy, the last thing he expects is to find himself attracted to her but he is and he discovers he wants to keep the little human, forever.

Their first meeting doesn't go well but it could have been worse. Valiant carries Tammy off, intending to mate with her. She's attracted to him but doesn't have sex with strangers and keeps trying to refuse him. He does wear down her defenses and they're together once before she escapes him. After their apart, Tammy can't stop thinking about Valiant and he's miserable without her. She goes on with her life but then some jerks kidnap her due to her association with the NS. When the NS find out, Valiant is very angry and desperate to find her. When Valiant and the other NS save Tammy, she decides it's best for her to stay with Valiant and goes back to the Reserve with him.

Once they're together again, Tammy and Valiant don't waste much time in reengaging where they left off but Tammy is a little worried because things happen so fast. Also, she's never had much luck with people in her life sticking around (except her Grandmother who's now dead) so she's worried his feelings will change down the road. Once she gets to understand more about the NS, she realizes that Valiant's possessiveness is permanent and she doesn't have to worry about him straying or changing his mind. Since Tammy's been trying to hold back her feelings for Valiant, she starts feeling more secure and decides she's willing to take a chance with Valiant and that if they're together they can make things work. I really loved it once Tammy and Valiant get together, they're really great together. Valiant is so sweet and only wants to take care of Tammy and make her as happy as she's made him and Tammy feels the same. Although the story isn't supposed to be funny, there are definitely parts that made me laugh out loud (especially some of Valiant's comments...priceless!). Just when things are going well trouble strikes and puts Tammy in major danger. She ends up kidnapped by a doctor that still has some NS captives that were never found. By using her head and making a friend she manages to survive until Valiant and the NS come to save her (and the other NS that were still held captive). After their reunion, Valiant and Tammy settle down for their HEA and I was thrilled for them!

This was a great story. I really loved both Valiant and Tammy and the story was very enjoyable and kept me wanting more. I love the secondary characters as well and will be looking forward to their stories as the series continues (the next book is for Justice and I'll be reading it ASAP). I'd recommend this book. 2 thumbs up. :D

* note - I listened to the audiobook version of this book and the narrator did a good job.

6/16/15 - Reread while driving long distances on a road trip. Still a great book. :D

"Loved this one, Valiant is a tyrant in the previous book and his patience with humans is little to be desired."

*** I have wanted to reread this for awhile and it is still a page turner. Valiant is adorable, he is so protective of Tammy that he often forgets that their are other feelings involved, he just wants her. I love that he calls her "my Tammy" such a simple endearment but it makes me smile everytime he says it.

More ridiculousness, but how can I resist? He's half lion. Rawr. Like Aslan, only the dark side. I will name him George, and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him...

This little clip sums it up so far... Bugs Bunny's Abominable Snowman.

Okey dokey, lots and lots of sexy times with lion-man and the h.

Much better than Slade, but I am going to move along to something else for a while.

P.S. You have to wonder where authors get their inspiration...

3.5 Yup, cuter than the previous one!

I liked Valiant's story! But well, really, who doesn't like a badass.
Tammy, the female character, was pretty nice too. She was smart and I appreciate that.
I also loved the fact that it was fast-paced, I had no time to get bored or to want to skim.

Still, I guess I wasn't really in the mood for this book, I just couldn't like it as much as I wanted to. I felt like Tammy left her life behind too fast. And I didn't really feel the chemistry between the two. So can't give it more than 3.5 stars.

The book is worth a try though, specially if you liked the previous two!

(3.75 stars, but as a personal rule, I round down.)

Valiant, was everything I wanted in a hero—possessive, sweet, faithful, protective. Tammy was passive—a usual Laurann Dohner heroine—but at least she wasn't a doormat like Ellie. It didn't matter, though, because Valiant carried the story for them both. He did it so well, in fact, that I was so sure that I would end up giving this 4 or 5 stars.

That is, until the writer dragged the story on and on and on and on. Dear Lord, this was so freaking slow. I could count a number of things I accomplished while waiting for something—anything—to happen in the story. Heck, I walked my dog, got a mani-pedi at the spa, and baked a freaking goddamn cake, and Valiant was still nowhere near getting the HEA he deserved.

Too many fillers, Ms. Dohner, is what ruined this otherwise amazing book for me. You should have made this 50+ pages shorter. By the time anything remotely interesting was happening, I was already too frustrated to care.

After being a little disappointed with Slade, the author did right by me with this one!

RATING: 4 Valiant Hearts!! :)

This is why I started this series! I'm happy to say it has redeemed itself from the travesty that was Slade. Valiant had the interesting concept, the great characters, good plot, good ending, and great secondary characters, making it not only a fun read, but worth the while as well. Definitely not a disappointment!

Both Valiant and Tammy were great characters! Their bantering never failed to make me laugh and their chemistry was off the charts smexy. The fact that there was character development is just an added bonus. I loved them as a couple and hope to seem more of them.

The plot in this, we get some development into the bad guys, just enough to satisfy, although I am hoping we get a lot more in future books to come. More about the people who created New Species, and more into all the hate groups the humans have created. Other than that, the plot was enjoyable in this. Action-packed, some twists, and above all, engaging.

The secondary characters are ever making themselves known, and making me crave reading their stories. I can't wait to see each of the guys get his HEA. Brass and Tiger, and Justice, I'm waiting! :) I will say, I missed having Ellie and Fury in the picture. I love it when a series has previous couples recurring, so it would be nice to see everyone once in a while.

With action, humour, great characters, and a good ending, Valiant is a great way to pass the time with. On to the next...Justice's book! Super excited. *fingers crossed* it won't let me down.

One of my fav quotes:

“She stared at his sharp teeth and swallowed the lump that formed in her throat.
“Um, you look scary when you show your…uh…teeth. They look really sharp.”
He didn’t get angry. In fact, her words seemed to amuse him greatly.
“The better to eat you with,” he teased softly.
Tammy’s heart flipped inside her chest. “That’s a bad joke, right? Please tell me you’re just kidding.”
“I’m not a wolf.”
“I’m not wearing red.”
“I still want to eat you.”

The moment Valiant see's Tammy crossing into his territory, he only knows her as His to keep. No matter the cost, he can't resist tasting her charms, and plans on keeping her for himself, however Tammy isn't one to just accept being someone else's pet. Although the passion is heated and explosive and she is drawn to Valiant in a way she doesn't truly know how to react to, she also realizes she needs more than possession, she needs love and until she has it she refuses to just accept things as is, and escapes and returns to her normal daily life. But when she is kidnapped, because of coming in contact with New Species, Valiant comes to rescue her, and refuses to let her go this time. Tammy starts to realize how much she has missed him and his magical touch, and she knows that she will stay with him no matter what.Valiant is the third installment in this series, a series I am just starting to get totally hooked on, and in some ways I think I like it way more than the breeds series, I find that there is more of a romance in these, even though its border line erotica, my feeling is that its more toward a romance fiction, and I just love the way the author creates this world, and the characters are so deeply woven in the pages, this reader couldn't help but just fall madly in love. From the first time I read of Valiant in "Slade" I think I just fell in love with him too!!!~ Valiant is the type of characters that is more Alpha than anything else, he is very loyal and when he makes a commitment to a woman its definitely forever no matter the circumstances. Tammy is the type of heroine that I just love, even though she fears Valiant in the beginning she challenges and defies him, full of courage she doesn't back down from a fight. I just love that about her, yet there is definitely a gentle nature about her.....and I just loved seeing their romance blossom and was so disappointed when I thought the story ended way too soon for me, I think the pages must have just flown by lol. There was so many things that I loved about this book, and even re read it already because I loved it so much. Five rating for me on this one!!!! Not a thing I can complain about though!!!

Valiant was all I expected him to be! Super hot, demanding, dominant and unbeatable. After saying that you may ask why a 4 star DD??!! Well as some of you may know I am not an insta-love kinda girl and this is definitely an insta-love IMO.

Tammy was not the ideal FMC for me. She was too compliant and well she was an easy lay. I like my heroines to be a smidge difficult and a bit of a chase involved. As in life I like the man to have to work for it a bit.

Valiant is my favorite MC thus far. Strong, dominant, and completely terrifying! Plus huge bonus....he is funny although he isn't meaning to be which makes it too cute. His unyielding love for Tammy is beyond sexy and his eagerness to please is hottttttt!

Again Dohner has an amazing storyline. Each book builds off of the last leaving the reader feeling like they have not missed a thing. She layers in secondary characters like a pro making me excited to see where their stories will lead.

Great series!

Happy reading! DD

5 Valiant Stars

I always forget how much I like Valiant until I re-read his book. He is just so exotic.
We all need a man who would lay down their life for you. His whole reason to live became Tammy. And no one was more surprised over that than Valiant.

He wanted a mate, but he never expected it to be a human. Tammy wasn't looking for someone but she was quite literally shocked by Valiant.
These two really do complement each other, she isn't afraid to stand up to him when he is being too much maleness. And he just wants to make her happy.

I loved this installment of the series and can’t wait to continue it.

Vanessa does a great job with each character, loveeeed this audio so much.
