SERIES Estella, Vampire Queen of the Rejected, royally invites you to join herself and her zombie lover for a fix of dark erotic tales sure to tickle your fancy and give you the shivers. But mind your manners and fingers, because she bites.
STRANGE AND BEAUTIFUL Estella, Vampire Queen of the Rejected, is sick of men. Or so she would have you think. Ditched at the altar by Dracula himself, she'd rather spend her days with what she now believes to be the more faithful gender. Plagued by a Haversham complex, she gets her kicks by luring prey into her decrepit house with promises of erotic tales...but mind your manners, and fingers, because she bites.
Lucy Rotterdayne—a zombie better known as Lucy Rot—is Estella's sometimes-faithful subject and lover. Although why she hangs around to be ridiculed and taunted by a bitter vampire, she has no idea. Perhaps the answer is rooted the story of how she was zombified by a doctor who is simply masterful with his hands?
Strange and Beautiful is the first book in a new series from JoAnne Kenrick - Tales from the Coffin. This short story introduces Estella, Vampire Queen of the Rejected, and her sometimes-faithful subject and lover Lucy Rotterdayne - a zombie better known as Lucy Rot. The two of them have loved men in the past, but are now together and shunning men. A coincidence? I think not.
Read this tongue-in-cheek, unusual tale to find out more about these two fascinating supernatural characters and hear about their erotic exploits.
Strange and Beautiful is a very unique short story. It's written as though Estella is talking directly to you, the reader, as if you were in the room with her. The story itself is a mixture of humour, the supernatural and erotica. It's very well done and I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to further tales from Estella and Lucy - and if quirky supernatural erotica is your thing, you should check this series out too.
Now, I have to say that this story was a total shocker for me. I grabbed it, because I have been the resident The Edge Series reviewer for Hotly Ever After it would seem. So, I had to grab it. There were a few that I didn’t like. I was so worried this would be another. I wasn’t sure about it.
If I am being honest, I didn’t get it at first. I had no clue that Estella was narrating to me the reader. I was like—erm, what is going on here. I just was so lost and didn’t really know what the deal was. Then it clicked, and I went “Ah, there it is, ok, I’ll follow this.” It was a close call, I nearly stopped reading. Then we are told the reason why Lucy is a ‘zombie’, a love gone wrong story. An oops. I was in it at that point, and I was thought it was funny, cheeky, a little edgy, and very original concept. Well, not totally original. It was like Tales from the Crypt gone erotica. But then again not really, because every tales from the Crypt had nudity, so it is like a reboot of the Tales from the Crypt concept of narration with a vampire/zombie flare.
I will be reading more of this series, because now I really want to know what happens next. And I am kind of hoping that Lucy will get unzombified.
Strange and Beautiful by JoAnne Kenrick is yet another book in the Edge Series , which is quickly becoming a favorite series of mine when in the mood for a really quick, highly erotic read is what I’m craving.
In this story, the reader is introduced to Estella, a vampire queen with a nasty attitude and an even nastier kick, and her lesbian lover and sometimes-faithful subject Lucy, a zombie with a wicked sense of humor. After the reader is introduced to this unlikely pair, they are given a look into just how unlucky in love Lucy Rotterdayne who has became Lucy Rot, a member of the undead with a taste for human flesh was.
Although I fairly enjoyed the interaction between Estella and Lucy, I absolutely loved the telling of Lucy’s story. The ending was unexpected and so bittersweet that I wanted a do-over for Lucy. I would definitely continue reading more stories featuring these two. Although the two are quite blatantly lesbians, the sex scenes between them are non-existent and the erotica is found in the content of the tales themselves.
Great addition to the Edge series! (Originally Reviewed for Blackraven's Reviews)
A very quick short read from Joanne Kenrick, Ive loved all her other books but this one was just not for me. Tales of the Coffin is yes, erotic but in a strange and un beautiful way.
The zombie lesbian part was just not for me, I didnt enjoy the characters or limited storyline and several other factors relating within the story.
I will however continue to read more Of this authors works. But not this new series. Everyone has an opinion, if your after some strange, dry humour, with a different storyline involving Vampires and zombies then give it a try.
