Storm’s younger cousin. Vandal’s little brother. You’ve met him in the background. The sweet one. The nice one. The one they can all rely on. The good one. He’s a tattoo artist. He plays metal and classical music - on the violin. He’s got a body built for sin. He’s 24. In comes Ivy. She’s a 36 year old single mom who hasn’t dated in 18 years. All she wanted was a tattoo. She got a helluva lot more :) Being good has never been so bad.
I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts.
Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.
I’ve fallen so hard that my heart has a concussion.
Just yum! This was a sensual and completely seductive romance between a gorgeous younger tattooist / musician Lukas and a recently separated Ivy. Forget the reverse age gap, Lukas is the kind of man every woman could possibly wish for regardless of age. Grounded, sensitive and a total dreamboat. Now he needs the woman he is besotted with to leave her comfort zone.
Ivy was completely blindsided when she discovered her husband was having an affair. In a blink of an eye, she became a 36 year old divorcee with two kids. When she decides to get a tattoo, crossing off an item on her wishlist, she meets 24 year old Lukas. A younger man that brings out a side she never knew existed.
Did a first kiss ever feel like this before? Has any kiss ever felt like this before? No. Not for me. Not ever.
Do you believe in love at first sight? Maybe not, but Lukas recognised that feeling the minute he laid eyes on Ivy. Trying to convince her to wade through her baggage to date him was a challenge. Lucky he had the patience to wait her out.
“Shh . . . be a kitten tomorrow,” he whispers, his hand sliding slowly up my arm. “Be a cougar tonight.”
This story was sweet and sexy. Although part of the Ashes and Embers series, it can be read as a standalone and I completely recommend!
After receiving a copy of an edited version of Lukas, I started to re-read this book right away. I fell even more in love with Lukas the second time around. The author extended the ending a little bit and it was simply wonderful. I can wholeheartedly say that re-reading this one was such a pleasurable experience.
This story touched my heart in so many ways. Needless to say, this one is a real winner!

My first reading : May 21, 2016.
4.25/5
"I want to drag you into my world and never let you go."
Once again, Carian Cole has delivered a sensational love story between Lukas, 24 years old tattoo artist, and Ivy, 36 years old mother of two. It was a sweet and beautiful romance with a little bit of drama thrown in for good measure. The story started off very well and it had me gripped from the first page right through to the end.
When Ivy found out that her husband of 18 years had cheated on her, she felt like her whole world had suddenly been turned upside down. He dumped her for a younger woman and left her crying and confused. Her friend encouraged her to do the things she’d always wanted to do but she just couldn’t do because her husband didn’t like. Ivy had wanted a tattoo for a very long time so when her friend gave her a gift certificate for a tattoo, she took it and told herself she could do this. Then she made an appointment and went to the shop. She prepared herself for the tattoo, but she wasn’t prepared to meet a super sexy artist who was going to turn her world upside down again.
Lukas felt the spark between Ivy and him instantly the moment their eyes met. There was something about this woman that drew him to her. The more he got to know her, the deeper he fell for her. While Ivy worried about the age difference between them, Lukas determined to prove that he was a man she could trust.
"Being with you is like reading a book that I can't put down, and every page gets better and better." –Ivy.
I was very impressed with how amazing Lukas is. He’s persistent, patient, caring, and understanding. He’s honest to his own feelings and he never gives up on her. What I loved the most about him was that he always made sure that she knew how much he loved her and wanted to have a future with her. He’s a man of my dreams.
"You're everything to me. You're the stability and safety I need, and the only one I would trust my heart with. You can make all my dreams come true, and I want to make yours come true, if you let me. I will always cherish you." –Lukas.
My only complaint was that it ended way too abruptly. There were some unanswered questions and I’m still curious about the other characters.
However, I really did enjoy this book. It is another one of my memorable reads. If you love reading sweet romance stories, then this one is for you.
4,5 Stars! It's not a secret that i'm a big fan of Carian Cole's books. She is a very talented author who knows how to write a plot that is both endearing and provocative with a dash of darkness, that highlights even more the characters and their story.
Lukas is a first for me. I hardly ever chose to read romances where the heroine is older than the hero, i tend to avoid them at all cost actually, even when i think the premise is good. But i knew this one was different even before i had it in my hands.
Call it a hunch? Or better yet trust to the author's capabilities, well the result is the same, i had a blast with sweet Lukas from every aspect. This book was simple, tender and exuded a unique organic sensuality. Exactly like the hero, it was well balanced, optimistic and genuine.
Most of the time i tend to love rock stars and their crazy antics, in this book though the hero wasn't a traditional rock star, no, he was more of a low-key, pure talented artist that sometimes played with a band. Lukas isn't cocky or arrogant, he craves stability and real love, he believes in soulmates and his biggest aspiration is to have a family of his own.
Ivy on the other hand had all that, or so she thought, until she caught her husband cheating on her. Now months later she struggles to find her footing in this new life after being with the same person forever and such betrayal. So one big step forward is for her to get a beautiful tattoo, but she will end up getting something better.
When Ivy and Lukas meet, everything changes for the both of them. They will have to conquer insecurities, pain, the past, the devastating present, selfish children, stalker exes, inadequate friends and so much more. But they are strong and together they make such a stable, harmonic couple despite all that. And let's not forget, no matter what, there is always Hope! ;D
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- A soulmate fairy-tale. - Sweet, little Katie!*cries* - The end was a bit abrupt. I could easily read 20-30 pages more about how they ended up in that place. - I liked her kids. Even though Macey was a bitch at a certain point. - So glad to see all the characters again. - Dual POV. - Asher is my favorite and i can't wait to read his story! - The crazy Raven, of course! - The ending had a big surprise. - #Worshipme!!! LOL!
ARC provided by the author in exchange of an honest review. Thank you Carian!
I don’t know why I don’t read more reverse age gaps because I always love them and Lukas is no doubt my favorite.
And that’s all in thanks to Lukas. Omg this man is pure perfection! He’s red hot, sweet natured, loyal, loving, giving and the man cooks like a chef. That’s to say nothing of his artistic and musical prowess.
Ivy is nothing to sneer at either. She’s strong, independent, sticks to her guns but she’s also loyal, loving and caring even after her cruddy husband left her high and dry.
Speaking of her cruddy husband, Paul might be the most miserable human being on the planet.
And Maisie, I loved you, thought you were so sweet. But dang girl, I’m so incredibly disappointed in you.
And then there’s Ray, he might be my favorite part of this entire story. Who’s that you might ask? Well, that’s Lukas’ pet raven who repeats everything you say. So you can imagine the shenanigans he got up to.
This wasn’t only a fantastic love story, we also got all kinds of fun interactions with the kids. Plus the turmoil was the kind I get sucked into like good gossip. Overall a totally satisfying read.
Let me start by saying Ivy gets cheated on by Paul her husand in the beginning of the book. And I don't think I can really put into words, just how much I want to drop kick him in the head, over an over again. Paul is the sought of man no women should be with, because even with everything he has, a beautiful wife, two children, a house, a job, he stills feels like it's ok to have an affair. WOW what a complete JERK! Then there is Lukas, such a sweetheart, an lets face it has got some holy hotness going on. Lukas is just trying to fit into ivy's world and make a life together, if you like drama you will love this book it really dose tick every box for me, page turner, tick, funny bird, tick, hot guy, tick ect absoulty loved it!
How does Carian Cole do it? She writes about hot guy after hot guy, each one having their own way to earn your love even if they’re so different from each other ?
Honestly Lukas is my favorite so far. He is just perfect and touched me in ways few male characters have touched me, Archer by Mia Sheridan and Ehd from Transcendance aside. He really, really, really, really (add as many as you want) is the perfect book boyfriend. If I usually fall for the Uber Alpha males, Lukas does not fit into that category. He is better, a unique blend of innocence, fragility mixed with strength and tranquil determination. He is an old soul in a young very attractive body. I could rave for pages and pages about him because he made a huge lasting impression.
This book is not about elaborate plot or very tortured story or… it simply is about Lukas and Ivy’s burgeoning and then growing relationship. It may be simple in its idea but it’s so well executed I never felt bored, just touched to my core. I ended feeling like I do after a very good romantic movie, with a big dreamy sigh. Call me a wuss or an eternal romantic but this story had its own magic.
The beginning was more of a tragic story, Ivy discovering her despicable husband slept with a younger woman behind her back for months now. Eighteen years of marriage go down the drain. She’s thirty six and never felt more insecure. She doubts about everything, she’s lost and can’t imagine moving on easily. When Lukas will pursue her, she’ll find all kind of good reasons not to fall for him, the age difference being the most prominent. Lukas may be twenty four to her thirty six but he is mature beyond his age and knows what he wants: stability and a relationship. He is a family man and dreams of having his own family, preferably with Ivy. He’ll have to be very persistent to convince her. She’s head of HR, wears suits and skirts, has two kids. He has long black hair, tattoos, is young and lives from his art as a tattoo artist and musician. I loved how he pursued her, never faltering in his determination to win her. No roller-coasters, no cat and mouse games, no I want you I don’t want you, just steadfast certainty that Iva was “it” for him. It’s a nice change and gave my blood pressure some respite.
I loved how Carian chose to show love overcomes appearances, social classes and ages. We fall in love with a person no matter how her upbringing and social status can differ from ours. Unfortunately, friends and colleagues don’t see it like we do.
Like Ivy, my “heart soared from cuteness overload” charmed by such “sexy adorableness”. Lukas made me swoon, Lukas made me cry, Lukas gives the best hugs and kisses and I’m certain you’ll also want your own Lukas but not this one because he’s mine (when Ivy will be done with him but fat chance, I know)!
”Do you believe in soul mates?” His voice is low and soft, with a hint of hesitancy, like he’s afraid of what I might say. Lukas doesn’t belong her, I realized right then. He’s a Knight. A prince. A warrior. A Viking. He’s one of those men that fight for love ‘til the end of time. One who would carry a woman away on his horse and make mad passionate love to her on the grass. A man who takes what he wants and make it his forever. A man not afraid to dream or believe in what can’t be seen, but only can be felt. His heart is lost in this time, where people no longer live to love or believe that love can transcend time.”
Special order coming right away: Carian, could you send me a Lukas with the #getvandalized T shirt? :-)
I was really looking forward to this book. The first in the series was wonderful, the second awful and this one was meh. I like stories that dive deep, showing genuine emotions, real depth-of-character kind of stories. This one felt like a fantasy, it was all fluffy and light and surface level emotions.
The premise sounds like it's a really great age gap, older woman, younger man story. The husband leaves the wife after 18 years for their dental hygienist. In steps this super sensitive, gorgeously tatted up, muscular, musician, owns a gorgeous house, has his own business, independently wealthy, an amazing lover, 24-year old hunk. Oh yeah, he also owns a Stradivarius that he just so happened to have found in his great-grandparents attic when he was seven years old and taught himself to play. 🙄 Lucas is written really well, almost too perfect. He is so over-the-top ridiculously unrealistic it was hard to take him seriously. The jumping into sex without protection was annoying. He'd been with quite a few women, and her husband had been cheating, is anyone tested?
Ivy didn't have much character depth. Who was she besides a 36-year-old woman, divorced, two kids, has some executive job that we know nothing about, petite, super cute, sexually inexperienced, and shy? As much as my heart broke for her and what she went through with her stupid ass husband, I didn't get enough backstory on who she even was as a person.
There is some drama with the daughter at the end that I found so unrealistic! But what really kicks the story into the negative for me, what is the decision at the end, more lies!!! I don't care how you try to pretty it up, when families try to hide a secret as big as this one, and that never ends well for anyone. It just added more fuel to this already overly dramatic family. Soap opera central.
Blurb: A thirty-six year old mother of two finds out life isn't over after divorce when a sexy as hell twenty-four year old tattoo artist kisses her senseless one night under a shooting star.
Ivy thought she had it all--married to her high school sweetheart, two great kids, and a beautiful house. But her world comes crashing down when she catches her husband with another woman.
When her best friend gives her a gift certificate to a local tattoo parlor to cheer her up, Ivy gets a helluva lot more when inked-up Lukas Valentine--renowned tattoo artist, violin player extraordinaire, and extreme hopeless romantic--captures her heart.
Lukas is an old soul with a heart of gold. When Ivy walks into his shop, he's instantly drawn to her shy smile and down to earth personality. Tired of the dating scene, Lukas is ready to settle down, and he's hell-bent on making Ivy believe they can have the happily ever after they both dream about - with each other.
Despite their age difference, the chemistry and love they share is undeniable. Lukas is everything Ivy never knew she wanted in a man, but can she trust her heart with a much younger man, and can they overcome the hurdles that life keeps throwing in their way?
No, no y no). ¿Y ese final?
Lukas is freaking perfect I wish he was real and into me.
Her daughter is a total bitch, her cheating father (heroine ex husband) said he would give her a car if she broke the couple apart. The fake whore called Lukas at 3am to pick her up from a part, he goes because he is super fucking nice and heroine is taking care of her younger son, he helps her bringing her to his house, he went to her to give some clothes and she tries to seduce him, he is disgusted and doesn’t understand why she is acting like that, she kisses him when he wants expecting it, before that she touched his chest but he was totally lost trying make her stop then she kissed him but there was no tongue, he backed away right when she touched his lips. He didn’t do anything wrong, he was disgusted, mad and lost on why she would to such a thing because she knows how he loves her mother. This cause drama to the couple because the next morning heroine goes to his house and before he could tell her exactly what happens the whore enters the living room using his shirt pretend she just left his room. My problem with that is because the whore didn’t suffered from her acts, heroine should have being way harsher with her. They were separated because of that for a while, after heroine discover the truth she had already chose to believe Lukas, but I was not mad at her, cmon it’s her daughter its heartbreaking knowing she was capable of doing such a disgusting thing. Lukas was sad as fuck he went after her, he tried contacting her for weeks until he stoped because he was also devastated over the fact that she didn’t trust him.
The last part felt too rush I hate the plot with Lukas taking Vandal’s baby because his brother is too fucked up so the baby mama doesn’t want him to know about the kid. The baby mama was also Lukas ex fling who he had broken up with a few weeks before meeting Ivy. He fucked her a couple times using protection but his brother was fucking her before him, during and also after him (cheaters) and she ended up pregnant with his bro’s baby but she wants to give it to adoption. He decided to take care of the baby pretending it was his with the other woman, he is honest with Ivy and they ended up pretending she is raising his kid’s with ow. Baby mama doesn’t want to raise the baby so they adopt her.
This bother me because they should have told Vandal. Lukas is aware is not comfortable to Ivy to pretend she is raising his kid with ow but they decided it together and Ivy has too kids with her ex husband so I was almost okay with this situation because Lukas was with the ow before meeting Ivy and he was not a whore, he is actually a very romantic guy.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
A 36, mother of two Ivy finds her word titled on its axes when her husband, the only man she has been with confirms he has been cheating on her for over a year. As she tries to cope with her new reality, the last thing she expects is the potent connection she feels for 24 year old tattoo artist, musician and old soul Lukas Valentine. Luckas is ready to settle down, wanting a family and when he meets shy Ivy he is determined to show her they're meant to be.
I was so excited to read this one, but the first half was just ok and then things got a tad crazy and resolved in a way I didn't always care for. After what Ivy's daughter does, holy heck I wanted to slap her and I wish we had seen her do some epic grovelling. And then there's the ex-husband - things felt horribly unfinished.
The writing whilst not bad didn't always flow smoothly and it didn't draw me in and have me eagerly reading. A tiny bit of skim reading did take place.
Sigh... this book wasn't going to be a 5 star but it was working itself to 4.25. And then it became 3.75, which I rounded up.
I LOVE Lukas. How can any woman NOT love Lukas? 24, hot as hell, with an old soul, sooooo loving.
IVy didn’t annoy me in the beginning but I hate her for how she hurt him at the end. I get it, I do. Hate her ex and her daughter more. But to hurt him like that after everything and how he chased after her and begged her and cried... I can’t believe her!!!!!
I get it if he was silent (like some novels are, hiding how they really feel) but he wasn’t. He told her. He went after her. He did everything he could. She broke him. This beautiful loving fragile man.
HATE HER!!
So I’m only ok with this book bc Lukas got what he wanted. Her. But I still can’t forgive IVy, not like he did.
And author, why r you bringing so much unnecessary drama into a perfectly good book????
The sex was good tho. Not like other more blander novels by CC.
And I love his story. This is the first book of the series I've read, and I'm seriously contemplating going back for books 1&2. But I'm afraid, for some reason, that they'll take away the magic for me with this book. This must be a sign that I'm kind of over reading entire series'. I've noticed this about my reading habits this past year. Tired of being let down I guess or things changing/going in directions I'm not happy about when it comes to investing in a series.
But though "Lukas" is the third book in this series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. It still may cause you, like it has me, to want to get invested in other characters you meet here that have already had their stories told.
Now, what I love about this book is how this story, it just touched me. It was very heartbreakingly realistic, but beautiful, in many ways. When it came to Ivy and her situation. How she meets & eventually falls into like & love with Lukas.
Lukas and the complicated, yet so simple things that make him who he is. How you see and believe, "Yeah, these two could really love each other"
I have to say Lukas really did it for me. He is only the 3rd Alpha/Beta male that I've had the pleasure of reading and truly loving everything about. In my experience in reading, many authors can't write this type of male and keep him likable, lovable, & irresistible all at once. You either get a male that's just way too hard, (which sometimes I must admit, totally works for me) or you get a male way too soft (which most times, doesn't work for me at all) Lukas is that rare combo of the two and it just works. Totally. His character traits, personality, quirks, actions and reactions all remain consistent, and totally undeniably sweet and hot through out this entire story.
There were things here that didn't quite sit well for me, though. Like the introduction to major things, and then hardly any follow up or details about them later. And I mean MAJOR plot happenings. I'm not sure if these things will be addressed in later books, or have been told in greater detail in earlier books, but I didn't like how they're introduced here, then completely glossed over. That didn't work for me.
Annnnd I wasn't too crazy about this ending. Given how everything came about, the ending felt way rushed for me. And once again a major reveal happened right before the ending, but the details for it were glossed over in the Epilogue. So this is why I couldn't give this one 5 stars *shrugs*
Verdict- Overall I love this story. I love the characters, their plights, and how they managed to just suck me into their worlds. So I definitely see myself checking out the other books in this series. All because of you, Lukas *sighs*
If this was lost on you, yes, I highly recommend this read.
Best of the series so far. Instance favorite because Lukas is top notch boyfriend material.
Ivy and Lukas are simply perfect for each other, despite being so different. The age gap is one of the greatest I've ever read of, considering the gender. This book tugged at all my feelings, still being pretty much angst-less. But y'all know how I like my books. Their romance is pretty smooth and follows a natural progression.
The main surprise for me was Lukas. Younger, a tattoo artist, a troubled soul and occasional rock-star... and the sweetest guy ever landed on this heart. He's a self-proclaimed communicator, ladies. How rare is that in both the book world as well as in reality?
I adored every single page, even though there was a minor flaw. I was not a fan of the main drama of the book and in general how much Ivy doubted him during their relationship. Still, after what happened with her previous husband, it was totally understandable.
I'll write a better review with quotes when I'll have more time.
So far, I would super recommend it. I lurved it to bit! Thank you Sophie for convincing me to pick this one up with your review.
How??!!! How is it possible that EVERY BROTHER I meet from this super sexy Ashes & Embers band, I fall harder than last!! They're broken, they're hurting and they all need a warm hug Come to mama hunkies🥰 "He’s a Knight. A prince. A warrior. A Viking. He’s one of those men that fight for love ’til the end of time. One who would carry a woman away on his horse and make mad passionate love to her on the grass. A man who takes what he wants and makes it his forever. A man not afraid to dream or believe in what can’t be seen, but can only be felt. His heart is lost in this time, where people no longer live to love or believe that love can transcend time."
I just met third brother and lemme tell you, he may be the youngest but he has the BIGGEST heart... As big as all outdoors. Lukas Velentine is a cute flirty tattooist. His fingers have magic, whether skilfully handling the tattoo machine, sketching on paper or holding a bow to violin, his lopsided smile and fluttering fingers create masterpieces.
"He is dark and light, an angel fallen and lost, sinfully sweet, dirty and damaged from the descent. I want him on me, in me, beside me. I want to breathe him into me and never exhale. I am completely enraptured by him." No wonder Ivy feels an electric shiver and her skin gets warm when those same fingers land on her skin or inside her body. They make beautiful music together, him writing poems in her honor and she hesitantly opening her heart to the second chance at life
She's been burnt once, twice shy in love and trust department. Her faith in HEA is shot and her hands full with recalcitrant teenager, a confused 7 yr old and an angry ex. "I lost a year of my marriage without even knowing it. How did I not know? How did I miss all the signs?" She's drowning. Life throws her another rope and Lukas hauls her out. But there's doubts and insecurities and age-gap and his fame nipping at her heels. How will they overcome these obstacles? "I wonder, if I buy the thigh master and do it for ten hours a day, what kind of results I can achieve in a week, coupled with one of those cabbage soup diets maybe." One at a time......until they all fall down😮 “I find it ironic that someone with such a huge heart has a hole in his own, and that the people who should love him keep falling through it.” Carian has improved with every book. I thought STORM was perfect, VANDAL made me his slave, but LUKAS has completely swept me away. He is so delicious, I could hold his broken unloved heart and put it in my chest so that they could beat together.
It was cute, Lukas was really sweet and Ivy was okay. What Macy did (h's daughter) was absolutely disgusting, I can't blame Ivy for not forgiving her. Overall it was okay, better than Storm for sure. Not the best book I've read by Carian Cole but I liked it for the most part. 3 ⭐
All the drama for no apparent reason. This was a decent 3 ⭐️ read until the last third of the book. The third act breakup and the reason why 🤮 Then the family drama and deciding to move forward on a foundation of secrets and lies. Gross.
The author states that the books are stand alone stories. Not true. I haven’t read the other books, I jumped into this one for the age gap younger man trope. I won’t be reading the other books.
Lukas is book 3 in the Ashes & Embers series and this time we see how Lukas and Ivy became a couple. While I didn't love it as much as other books by this author overall it was an enjoyable read. I love age gap books but I prefer them with the man being older. Here we have Ivy 36 separated with two kids and Lukas 24 tattoo artist, musician, business owner. First let me start with Lukas, I loved him. He is sweet, sexy, thoughtful, mature, and I loved his up front nature. He keeps nothing hidden and I loved how he shared his inner hopes and dreams so easily. Now Ivy was my issue, I found her blah. There was nothing thrilling about her and the first half of this book had me bored. Now the second half was better and I did start to like Ivy. My heart broke for her and what Macy did. While I was upset I understood her confusion and conflict because no mother wants to ever choose between her child and her man. I'm glad it all worked out in the end. Now what I'm not liking is yet again we have more secrets being kept from Vandal. I understand every ones desire to keep him sane but I worry he's not going to handle the truth very well, especially this latest one. Also when the truth is revealed it's going to affect Lukas and Ivy dearly. I can't wait to start Talon's book.
This book was even sweeter the second time around. The narrators did a wonderful job expressing the emotions of the story line.
Far from the typical arrogant alpha male hero, Lucas is sweet, caring and possessing a maturity beyond his years all wrapped up in a beautiful sexy outer package. Their age difference concerned Ivy but his persistence and charm won over her insecurities.
This was a sweet tender romance with some light angst to give it some edge. It was heartbreaking when Ivy thought the worst of Lucas, but I understood the reaction and decision to believe her daughter over him. I was satisfied that once the truth came out, Ivy didn’t easily forgive her daughter and had her temporarily move out to live with her ex-husband. Although, my sweet Lucas should have had Ivy grovel just a wee bit more for breaking his heart.
Like Vandals book, there was a surprise ending that makes me want to read the sequel to Vandals book even more. I can't wait!!
Enjoyed this older woman younger man romance. I mostly felt that this couple would stay together. The hero seemed to be pretty mature for his age. There was a bit of insta love but I mostly bought it over all. I didn't enjoy the actions of the heroine later in the book. I would have enjoyed it quite a bit more if she hadn't taken so long to come to her senses.
Goodness gracious. Where to start. Let me say, I love how we're going backwards to see how and why the couples ended like they did.
Lukas always seemed besotted and cute. Not to mention proud of his girl. The same for our Lady. She seemed besotted, uncomfortable yet flabbergasted at her good luck lol I like it.
I'm quite taken with Lukas actually. I find his upfront charm and persistence really refreshing. I find our girls aversion natural. I find Lukas fascination with antiques different in a nice way.
I will say, the mother daughter thing creeps me out. It's nice to see Vandal so happy with Katie around. It's nice to get to know her a little to. Also fun to see Storms book from a different POV for a min as well. Grams is a hoot as usual.
BAM!! "Will you be my girlfriend?" how fucking hard is it to say these words! love this dude for real. Straight to the point no fucking around.
What is with Paul? I know he's not the first bloke to run of then come crawling back. Is it because it's no longer the thrilling, dirty secret? Is she more than he can stomach? WHAT!
I'm relieved the mother daughter thing was straightened. It needed to be closed. And how adorable that these dudes just drop everything because they're worried, impatient, or their girls just need a hug :)
Ew, Ew, Ew! I can't, I really can't. The tables a no no! fuck man the kitchens a no no! anywhere but the table and kitchen!
Oh come the fuck on! Ivy for fucking real girl? are you for fucking real! I could easily hate Macy, but Ivy is the fucking adult here. Ivy is the one who was fucking Lukas. Ivy was the one spitting poetic. To give up so damn fast? fuck of with that.
I'm speechless. That ending though . . Never saw that coming. I expected it to be so transparent! totally blew me away in a good way.
I have one major issue with it though. They had no fucking right! What's gonna happen later ha? I'm disappointed in them all for thinking so little of him.
What the fuck is up with Asher! I so need deets Mrs Cole, and they'd best be good lol. He's peaked my interest. Also his mysterious friend. Who is he? and for the love of all that is holy . . DO NOT. I repeat. DO NOT. Cheapen the series by adding paranormal elements! gonna be pissed if we suddenly have angels or resurrections etc.
Which leads me to . . What the hell's up with the dam feathers!!!! Speaking of, I'm disappointed nothing came of the bird. I'd hoped he'd spill the dirt on Lukas lol not that he didn't provide some much needed laughs :)
Messed up is the new normal... I have been anxiously anticipating Lukas, and he was worth the wait. The author gave me a few glimpses of him and Ivy when I was reading Vandal, so I had a vague impression of their relationship. Yup, just enough to whet my appetite for more. I already knew he was Vandal's brother and they had just found each other in recent years. It was interesting to read this story in a parallel time frame, in a way that I got to revisit some events from another perspective. It was kind of a shock when I first realized what was happening, when a character was introduced in a scene, and then I remembered it from before...and my heart broke...again. The story is very well written, in a way that will keep you on the edge of your seat, anticipating, guessing, gasping, drooling, blushing, and then you will be back to gasping again, and probably ranting and throwing shit...hopefully not your kindle. There's no doubt in my mind that you will love Lukas, he's incredible and all the things that make the best BBF's. He's got rippling muscles, long hair, tattoos and piercings. He's a talented artist and a musician. And best of all, my two favorite things about him are that he's beautifully broken with a painful past and that he has a huge heart in spite of it. It's his past that makes him an old soul in a young body. He's lived a lifetime in experience and pain, giving him a wisdom beyond his years. When Lukas and Ivy meet, there is a strong and immediate soul deep connection between them. But being that Ivy is so much older than him, she denied it...until it she couldn't anymore. He pursued her, wearing her down with his thoughtfulness and verbal foreplay. I had a giggle-fit when he told her, "Shh...be a kitten tomorrow. Be a cougar tonight." And then there was Ray...I really loved him...and his filthy mouth. And Grams...she's special. She's full of sass, insisting the boys pay-up every time they swear. She's gonna be rich since the swear jar is getting filled with bills instead of coins. The more I read of this series, the more I like it. I'm so glad there are more band members to focus on and at the same time we'll get to enjoy spending more time with the characters that we've already come to know and love. And then, when I thought everything was winding up nicely, something else happened...hmm, more delicious anticipation to hold me over until the next book is released.
Lukas is pretty much the guy all of us women are hoping for even if he was a lot younger. He is so mature but he wasn’t stuffy. He seemed fun loving, totally in touch with his feelings and just an all-around dreamy guy.
You will immediately feel Ivy’s pain of complete betrayal when she is blindsided by her husband’s infidelity. My goodness her husband is a real piece of work and managed to remain that way through the entire book What a complete jackhole!!!! She is 36 now and divorced with 2 kids.
Part of me really liked this story but oh my goodness I could not even fathom the deception that occurred with people she loved. It really was a little over the top. It literally made me sick to my stomach. I guess being that moved by a book might be good but the negativity it caused was hard to handle.
I’m not sure I liked how it all unfolded and I felt like it was a bit unfinished in the delivery.
I feel like more than 50 % of the books I am reading lately I have serious mixed feelings about and this one fits in that category.
How amazing of a man was Lucas!!? I loved him so much. He was so passionate and sweet. Literally the sweetest man just looking for love. A lot of Carian Cole's heroes are bad ass tattooed rockers on the outside, but sweet and caring on the inside. I loved how even though Lucas was young, he was an old soul and made Ivy feel wanted and loved. Everything from the way he kissed her to making love was so intense with him.
I loved everything about this, especially Ray who was freaking hilarious, this except the drama towards the end. That whole thing with Macy was disappointing and a bit out of left field. The Vandal situation sounds super messy too.
Lukas is the second book I have read by Carian Cole. Both the narrative style and the characters created by the author are great. Ivy is a woman who marries the man she loves and lives happily with her two children. At least until she hears her husband talking to a much younger woman... From that day on, everything changes and Ivy makes new decisions in her life. New clothes, a new hair color and the tattoo he wants ... Here we meet the most amazing character of book, Lukas. Lukas is the sexy tattooist in this story ... But he has such a heart that he convinces even Ivy, who has a trust problem, that he is a great lover.
The book started with incredible excitement. I did not think if I could get what I expected from this story that started with a sudden breakup. However, it turned out very, very well than I expected. Lukas is 24 years old and Ivy is 12 years older than his. So I had some prejudice. I can't stand the male character being small in the book... but this prejudice is broken by Carian Cole.
Lukas is a very mature male character. He took into account both Ivy's expectations as well as his own, and slowly stepped forward for Ivy, who had trouble trusting his steps. It was nice that he thought of Ivy and her children before herself. Although Ivy approached her with caution, he never gave up and was finally able to convince Ivy that she was in love with her.
I hated Paul - the ex-husband - throughout the book. He's an idiot and a jerk who tries to annoy Ivy even in the divorce phase. Towards the end of the book, I loved that part about Macy. I also loved the increase in love for each other after that exam. Although I hate Macy, we know who's behind it... Agh ... I hate stupid characters.
I loved every detail. I can recommend this book to anyone who loves age gap romance with my eyes closed 😉👏💋✌
I tend to not read books where the h is older than the H. In this case I feel Ivy is quite significantly older than Lukas, 36 to his 24.
The beginning also came to me as a surprise. It felt really realistic when it comes to a wife catching her husband being unfaithful. And can I say that I want to sucker punch him and all the other unfaithful men/women out there. Ugh I hate cheaters, and to their partners who already know they are already taken.
Anyways, Lukas.... he just made this whole age difference easier to swallow. Even though he's 24, his soul is so much older than that. I'm glad that Lukas was there when Ivy was at her lowest.
Ivy's daughter, did make the end a bit more conflicting, but I'm super glad that it didn't blind Ivy from making the right choices in the end. (what a bitch move the daughter did)
This book was the first book in the series that I've read, and I did fine not knowing what happens to the other characters that had their own books.
We've all been shit on at some point in life, so God knows that I wish I'd met Lukas when I was!!! Ugh...he was perfection!! In fact this entire book was perfection for me. Being older and with all of her insecurities about starting again, moving forward with her life, her doubts about her body and her falling for a younger man, Ivy was just awesome to read as a character - I love that she was in her thirties and that Lukas was such an old soul at 24, it was beautiful.
I lost 4 hours of sleep not being able to put this baby down, if you haven't already, then...
Straight on to book 4 - Talon for me, Carian Cole you're a phenomenal writer : )
