As the title says this book presents 209 recipes to spice your love life, but this one is not a simple cookbook. The book presents the recipes according to groups (Vegetables, Fish, Seafood, Nuts, Fruits, Chocolate and Love Potions, Hot Drinks, and Spicy Teas). Before presenting the recipes the author explains why the group is an aphrodisiac and presents different examples of said group (for example in the Seafood section she introduces shrimps, squid, etc.) giving the book an educational tone. I liked that is not just: "try this recipe and you will have better sex".

Besides being divided into groups the book has all kind of recipes, you have salads, desserts, beverages, cold and hot dishes. Also, most recipes are really easy to do. Some of them included exotic ingredients, I know, but you cannot use the excuse of being too hard. The author wrote simple and detailed recipes that anyone of us can manage to do.

I really enjoyed the book, not only because it's about food and how to spice sex but also because I learned about so many characteristics and properties of certain food.

I would like to try some of these out once my roommate moves out. To tackle any of them now would just be awkward. I am interested in learning more about the composition of food and how it affects ones sex drive and sexual performance. This book also makes me want to crossrefrence the information and see what scientific studies have to say on the subject.

Ensuring that the reader understands the full natural ingredients within the book, Olga Petrenko carefully explains the difference between artificial performance enhancers and natural aphrodisiacs, as well as the extra health benefits which each ingredient can bring. Divided into different sections, this book gives you a massive selection from vegetables, fish, seafood, nuts, fruits, chocolates and beverages. This enables those with food allergies to choose from a selection which is just right, not only for their arousal, but also for improved health.

I had no idea there were so many aphrodisiacs out there until I laid eyes on Olga Petrenko’s book, nor did I know that there were differences between male and female aphrodisiacs. Intimacy on the Plate: 200+ Aphrodisiac Recipes to Spice Up Your Love Life at Home Tonight has certainly opened my eyes on the large range of healthy foods which can help you and your partner get into the mood for a night of romance. Olga not only advises on the specific foods which will tickle your love-making fancy, but also explains the science behind why each food has this effect on the male or female hormones in our bodies. As a food allergy sufferer, I am confident that I can get my taste buds in a great mood without adverse effects, as each recipe has intricately detailed ingredients. Not only did Intimacy on the Plate: 200+ Aphrodisiac Recipes to Spice Up Your Love Life at Home Tonight get my mouth watering, but it has encouraged me to update my shopping list, while renewing my love of cooking. I recommend this to both male and female readers over the age of 18 years, while wishing you a healthier tomorrow.

Intimacy On The Plate by Olga Petrenko is a beautiful cookbook with amazing recipes with eye-catching and sinfully divine-looking gourmet images.

If you love cooking then this book is for you. It has some really good recipes that are not only easy to make but also very healthy to eat. There are so many recipes to choose from! I've already marked more than a dozen that I'm planning to try in the coming months. The information provided is like a well full of important knowledge and you get to learn so much about food and its influence on different aspects in our life.

If you love cooking and want to try cooking in a very different style and in the whole new light, then you should definitely get your hands on this book.

Well, this is certainly an interesting recipe book! There are sections on many of my favourite ingredients, all of which appear to be known aphrodisiacs. Who knew.

The recipes are beautifully photographed and look delicious, and the instructions for preparing them are clear. I will certainly be trying some of them, and as the book itself suggests, using them as a starting point for varying the recipes and creating tasty dishes of my own.

I like that the recipes are organised by major ingredient, so that if (for example) you wanted to try using more celery for its nutritional (or aphrodisiac) benefits but lacked creative ideas for how to prepare it, this book is there to help.

There's a whole section on chocolate, of course.

I think if there is one thing I find fault with, it's that the explanations of why some of these foods are good for your sex life tend to be a little vague and muddled, and aren't sourced with references. That shouldn't matter, as long as you take seriously the disclaimer at the beginning, that none of the information in the book is intended as medical advice. (Most of this confused information is harmless except the uncritical repetition of the folk falsehood that Spanish Fly is an aphrodisiac. It's not; Cantharidin is a poison, one of whose toxic symptoms can be prolonged erections. If that makes it an aphrodisiac why not get yourself bitten by a Brazilian Wandering Spider while you're at it).

I will stress: none of the recipes contain any dangerous ingredients, it's just that the book could have stood a little more trimming of non-useful filler text. It's only a minor point, since the main purpose of the book is the recipes, and it could stand on its own merits with them alone.

What is certainly true is that making delicious, healthy food with nourishing ingredients, and sharing it together, will indeed contribute to the romance and sensual enjoyment of any relationship, just as watching the sunset or listening to music will. This book is entirely suitable for beginning that exploration of the senses.

Uniqueness is what I look for in books. While I review a book I always tries to find if there is anything novel in the same. But, never did I expect to see the same novelty in a cookery book. I would not like to call the book a mere cookery book. It is more of a textbook on health and sexuality. It is said that the shortcut to a man's heart is through his stomach but here through this book, author changes the line to the shortcut to a man's sexual desire is through his stomach. This stands true for a woman too, for that matter.

The book is systematically categorised into vegetables, fish, seafood, nuts, fruits, chocolates and beverages. We have a nutritional section wherein the scientific base of the recipes are explained briefly. When I started reading the book I was unaware of the term Aphrodisiac and the fact that there are certain food items that increases libido. All I new was about chocolates and drumsticks. The rest were a surprise for me. Had I known that pumpkin has aphrodisiac properties, I wouldn't have set aside the dishes which contained the vegetable.

Author has clearly mentioned that these recipes does not increase infertility but you never know, increased libido might be what you needed to spice up your life and thereby give an extra chance to caress a new life. Hence before gobbling up those pills why don't we give atry to these recipes because there is nothing to lose if we try them out for these are devoid of side effects.

The recipes are quite simple and very easy to follow. I liked that the recipes are organized according to its main ingredient, which is easier for me because I like using whatever's in my pantry. Can't wait to try these recipes at home!

The cover on this is really... titillating. But, in all seriousness, the cover makes use of a cleverly placed food item to look like something else. I now quickly realize that this review is probably going to be very hard to write without getting flagged for content on Amazon.

The first thing that popped out to me was the photography in this. These might be some of the most beautiful food photographs I've seen in a cookbook in quite some time. I can tell that the photographer spent a lot of time perfecting each shot (which is nearly impossible with food, especially hot food).

The recipes themselves were interesting. There are different sections for the different aphrodisiacs which made it easy to figure out what you wanted to cook with and go from there. It allows couples an easy way to try new things.

I was intrigued by this book for a few reasons, one being it's always nice to get new recipes, especially for food that I someone wouldn't normally cook with. And I wanted to see what else was inside.

Petrenko does a great job explaining out the recipes and the ingredients where necessary making Intimacy on the Plate a great book for couples, especially foodie couples (you know who you are!)

I'm glad that I got this cookbook. I will definitely pull it out from time to time to spice things up.

Intimacy on the Plate was sent to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Food is a topic that goes hand-in-hand with human culture. It does not matter which culture you are referring to; anywhere on Earth, food plays a part in society. On the topic of Intimacy on the Plate, people have long since used food when it comes to love. When someone says the phrase “go on a date”, what do you think of? The specific answer may vary a little from person to person but I bet food was involved. Understanding just how this works can really help to spice up your love life.

209 is a lot of recipes and they are broken up into sections. First, there is a section on vegetables, then fish, and so on and so forth. The beginning of each section highlights a variety of key ingredients and how they affect the libido. Some of this information involves modern science, citing how the ingredients can affect hormone levels, increase blood flow, and have other such effects on the body. Other information details how various ancient cultures correctly associated these foods with romance. Another important note includes the different effect that some foods have between male and female physiology.

This information is all useful as well as interesting but of course, the bulk of the book is the actual recipes. For this review, I decided to try out two of these dishes myself. The first of which was “Baked Cod with Cheese Sauce”. The cod itself was fairly simple here, just needing to be thawed in preparation. The cheese sauce (which I will be somewhat vague on as to not give the recipe away freely) was primarily parmesan cheese and sour cream with various herbs mixed in. Pour it over the cod and bake. Normally, I am personally not a fan of sour cream. But this fish was absolutely divine. It is now in my own cookbook as a go-to recipe for guests.

Needing a dessert to go with the main dish, I also tried the “Chocolate Velvet” recipe. Primarily dark chocolate with white chocolate on top, this dessert ended up with a unique texture. It felt somewhere in-between pudding and mousse and was impossible to put down. Needless to say, I ate far more of it than I intended in a single sitting. With how delightful both of these recipes turned out, I will surely be trying more from Intimacy on the Plate in the future.

I have many terrific cookbooks, but this cookbook is one of a kind. Yes, it provides plenty of recipes, but they aren't just designed to taste good and look good; they're also supposed to add a little spark of oom-pa-pa to your love life.

Based on her research, the author explains the sex-enhancing attributes of various foods and herbs, as understood throughout history by various peoples of the world, and then she highlights some recipes containing those "magical" ingredients.

Does it work? Beats me, but I did have one "ah-HA" moment while reading the book. Oysters have traditionally been called aphrodisiacs, but I never had any idea why that might have been the case. (I mean, they taste good... but they don't LOOK terribly sexy, ya know?) But according to Ms. Petrenko, oysters are very high in zinc, and THAT is what supports those romantic feelings. Interesting, huh? I think so, too... which is why I told my husband about it when I read it.

When I came home from the store this morning, he jokingly asked if I bought any zinc pills while I was out. I didn't. But I DID buy some oysters... (ahem) Purely coincidental, of course.

Intimacy on the Plate is a unique cookbook that will both educate and enthrall. Included are a little over 200 recipes, all involving some form of aphrodisiac. The book is broken down by category (veggies, nuts, fish, fruits, etc), and the back of the book includes an ingredient list so you can easily find a recipe to try based on what you currently have on hand, or what you plan to buy the next time you go to the store.

This cookbook not only includes recipes, but it also includes some very interesting and educational science behind foods known to be aphrodisiacs. There were some I knew were considered to boost desire, and some that surprised me. Like almonds. I didn't know they were an aphrodisiac, and considering they're one of my favorite foods, I enjoyed discovering how unique they really can be.

The one thing I kind of missed was pictures. I know this is the Extra Trim Edition, and pictures were left out to make the book a little smaller, but I would have liked a few here and there to showcase what the finished product of certain recipes looked like. Even if it was in black and white, I wouldn't have minded.

Overall, though, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the facts behind the foods mentioned in Intimacy on the Plate. If you're looking for a new cookbook that will titillate your senses, give this one a whirl. I'd recommend it.

I rate Intimacy on the Plate 4.5 stars.

I love cooking! I love cooking books of all sorts, I love having a lot of kitchen supplies (that I may never use) and I love this book! And I’ll give you two more reasons: all recipes here are using as main ingredients some of my favorite elements (like fish and fruits) and it covers a range of recipes I was not focused on before – aphrodisiacs.

The book is very well structured and each chapter introduces the reader with the qualities of each element. The combinations are easy to follow and they are very detailed. It has everything you need for your taste buds.

Do you like salads? Well, here you have over 30 salad recipes destined to boost your love side. You’ve got fish, seafood, chocolate, fruits and even drinks. You can prepare a healthy diner for your partner just by following these easy instructions. I found them friendly and well detailed and definitely you don’t have to be an expert to prepare them.

I like the index at the back of the book, as it helped me identify some of my other favorite ingredients and where or how I can combine them with the main elements of this book.

To conclude, I find it very useful and a title worth having, regardless if you cook for yourself or others. The recipes are not only aphrodisiacs but also tasty and fun to make. Enjoy and Bon Appetite!

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review *

Really unique and informative! I enjoyed the introduction about aphrodisiacs and really liked how the recipes were sorted accordingly to its main ingredient type. The content is quite detailed, covering even drinks and desserts. There are even descriptions and properties of the many aphrodisiacs. I would have preferred the recipes to be more detailed (especially the cooking process), however, being a very beginner cook with little experience. But seasoned cooks will probably find this book extremely useful.
