Yup, we're back with the next mission and I am yet again blown away by my odd wholesome family. Let me tell you again if you did not catch me the first time: if you enjoy political drama, spy thrillers, gorgeous action scenes, wholesome comedy, and sweet family drama, you'll love Spy x Family. Whatever angle you look at it from, this is a perfect shonen manga.
This volume pivots more on Anya enrolling in her new school at Eden Academy with a relative family dynamic that I truly avail myself of this progress. You can see Loid still strung as ever over his Operation Strix, but little by little developing a soft spot for Anya. The same goes for Yor, as she started to spend more time with Anya, having a mother-daughter bond that got me gobbled up for how adorable this volume is!
My favorite would be on Anya adjusting herself at her new school, making new friends, enemies, while also trying to impress her new family. It was entertaining to see how all of them are still adjusting to fit their role in their very own way; like Loid and his spy-mind and Yor with her murderous thought that left Anya baffled all the time.
As much as there was no big leap in the character development, and some things seem to be ridiculous not to notice, this manga is still humorous as ever. I believe, little by little we'll be able to note a burgeoning in their persona, seeing that we had lots of new additional characters as well.
Overall, this series remains entertaining and holistic to me. And to no one's surprise, I'm loving Anya more than I did! I couldn't wait to see the progress between Loid and Yor next in dismantling their phony relationship now that we have someone else visiting 👀
I really don't like kids and this is not a gen-z slang or something it's just I really don't like them and so years they have been getting used a sort of reaction-getter in Mangas and books but not Anya.
I love that girl. The best written child character I have ever read about. She has a own problems to solve, her own responsibilities, her goals. She is honest and straightforward. She has ulterior motivations. Her own misguided sense of duty.
In short is cute but very savage, even adults can't handle.
So far this series is such a fun and entertaining time!! 🤩🤩💕💕 I've only read 2 volumes so far, but it just makes me soo happy- I'm really glad I gave the first one a try ❤
This volume continued the mission from the first book, but it's starting to move forward now, as their objective to infiltrate Eden Academy goes forward. We also get loads of content about the Forger family and just how family life is going for them.
A random mishmash of my thoughts about this volume! I really loved getting more content about Twilight, Yor and Anya and seeing how life is going for them pretending to be a family 🥰🥰 There are so many cute and funny moments between them and I love the different mix of personalities- Twilight's very cold exterior, Yor's sunshiney nature and Anya's cute, childish personality. They are all so different but go really well together, and it's so fun to see them interacting 🤩🤩❤❤ When I started this series i had no idea i'd get so attached to the characters so quickly! 😍😍
The overall vibes of this series are just immaculate. Like, a story with action and spies, also feeling like the cutest, funniest comedy?? I love it 😍💗 It's so effortlessly entertaining and I just love seeing all the trouble these characters get themselves into. The author nailed the comedy-action feel that i love 🤩🤩
I also lovee the art style in this series!! 😍😍 Something about it just works perfectly for me and I love all the different facial expressions. The attention to detail is also great. And idk, but there's something about it that I just adore 💕
Some things i would love to see more of in the next volumes:
➳ Yor's assassin abilities!! From what we've seen, she seems awesome but i would love to see more of what she does as an assassin. Female assassins in books always hit the spot, so hopefully we see more of that 🤞🤞🗡🗡
➳ Yor and Twilight's relationship! I still dunno if there's gonna be a romance between them (if there is, i'm definitely not complaining....) but I would just love to see more of their interactions 😏😏
➳ The actual mission ig? Not that we aren't seeing it, it is definitely one of the main points of the series, but I feel like we didn't see too much of it in this volume.... I just wanna see Twilight in action more often 🤭
Overall, I'm only 2 volumes in, but I'm really enjoying this series so far!! Would definitely recommend if you want:
✔ Feel good story ✔ Amazing characters ✔ Great art style ✔ Super cool premise
So fun 😚😚💕💕
Also, this review is super all-over-the-place, so sorry 'bout that 😂😂🙈🙈

this manga keeps improving and im really loving it. also, yori looks kinda like yamaguchi, probably because of the hair right?? adjsdyfgdhs the folger fam is capturing my heartt
This volume is even better than the first! I was howling in laughter at many moments. And this manga is dark at times, but it's balanced out with humor, action and sweetness (and some dramatic irony, which I ADORE).
Also, I hope Damian gets his ass kicked again. (I don't care that he's a kid, bullies are trash no matter the age.)
“Everyone has a secret self that they don’t show to other people. Not to friends…Not to lovers…Not even to family. They hide who they are and what they want behind lies and painted smiles. And thus the world…Maintains its thin veneer of peace.”
What a decent read.
Where volume #1 was adorable and funny. This one was…just…missing a whole lot of something…😔😔😔
Unfortunately I will not be continuing this manga series. Though I do plan on continuing to explore the manga genre..😊😊😊
Favorite Quotes:
“Everything’s been so much fun since I left the orphanage. Because of you Papa.” -Anya
“I love my STRONG, COOL Mama.”-Anya
“A smile is the strongest weapon.”-Yor
“It’s always more productive to focus on future plans than than on mistakes of the past.”-Twilight
“Nothing of worth has ever been built in a day.”-Twilight
I'm finally continuing this series, and I had somehow forgotten just how CUTE it is. Anya alone is probably the singular most adorable character I've ever seen in any manga, but the whole family is just wholesome and precious in their own bizarre, violent way. I love how concerned Twilight and Yor are with Anya's happiness and well-being; despite it being a fake family, it's so evident that they've both got tender hearts of gold when it comes to their "daughter". Anya is absolutely hilarious (her little "heh"s and sinister grins at school had me giggling the whole time), and the whole plot is so ridiculous and over-the-top in the BEST way.
As always, Anya is the best and funniest character ever🥺💗. In this part, We also get to meet Yor’s brother,Yuri Briar
I don't need to talk about Yor and Loid, how much I love them😭😭💗
The best thing for me is when Anya goes to school and the events that happen when she goes🖤🔥, I love how Anya tries so hard to help her parents in their mission, and her moments with damian was so cute 🥺💗💗💗
More implausibly spy family fun with the Forgers. We meet Yor's kid brother (oops, she forgot to tell him she was married!), Anya tries to learn fractions, they visit the aquarium.
It starts with them going to Anya's school and her trying to get into the top spot and all the dramatics that follow, rather than befriending Damian (the targets child) she attacks him and the sequence of events that follow and the comedy that ensues there with mission going sideways and all its so fun and finally seeing Loid try to balance spy and family life while maintaining the image is so fun and the last ch. with them in the zoo was hilarious and pure comedical. I am loving the simple elegance of this manga and especially the family dynamics and some twists with Yor's brother and her over the top moments. The art just gets better with every succeeding manga panels and all. Ahh I love this series, its just so simple and innocent and has charming moments and makes it remarkable and stand out and this volume is an example of that.
