In a year like 2020, love is the last thing Elita Chapman expects…
When 29-year-old Elita’s parents finally put their foot down on her unproductive lifestyle, she is sent to be her grandmother’s caretaker. Not at all happy with the new situation, she grudgingly adjusts to her new role in life.
But when mysterious love letters start arriving from a secret admirer, Elita grows perplexed. At first, thinking it only her brother pulling a prank, she brushes away the possibility that love could actually be delivered in her mailbox. With each new letter that arrives, however, she grows increasingly more convinced it is not a joke.
Even though she knows not the sender, Elita finds herself falling in love with the mystery man, who begins sharing a "Twelve Days of Christmas" countdown with her, in which she receives a special gift each day. And then, when Christmas Day finally arrives, Elita learns that, unbelievable as it seems, love can, most definitely, be delivered.
Elita can’t believe that her parents are kicking her out of the house! Imagine!
Reality is, she’s 29 and sits around reading most of the day and they believe she’d be of more use helping her grandmother. Begrudgingly at first, Elita adjusts to her new lifestyle at Chapman Cottage in New Lenox and is unaware of a secret admirer in her new neighbourhood. When he decides to ‘make a move,’ Elita believes it’s her brother pranking her. Until one day … she realizes she looks forward to the mysterious letters in the mail, they most definitely aren't written by her brother, and she genuinely appreciates the lovely gift she receives each day.
Love, it seems, can be delivered.
Elita’s banishment becomes a blessing.
This is a sweet, clean, Christian romance. I love Elita’s ‘real’ name, how Grandma Chapman encourages Elita to read her bible, the message about how others see us, and the message about learning to be happy and grow where God plants us.
I loved how the author sheds light on the possibility that the Twelve Days of Christmas carol had its roots in the bible. My quick surface-level investigation online revealed that research suggests that it was really a secret catechism for Catholics in England when Catholicism was persecuted by Henry VIII. I’d never considered this idea, so it’s given me lots to think about.
You’ll agree, we all need a Sidney Liston in our lives!

Elita doesn’t have goals in life except to read. Shen then went to help and lived with her grandmother Ashton. I like how her grandmother calls her by her first name, Bethlehem. It’s cute. I started to get invested in the story when the mailman, Sidney, begins sending her a "Twelve Days of Christmas" countdown. Much like Elita, I also anticipated each letter and every information revealed to solve the mystery of the sender. The reveal was sweet. 4 stars
This is the cutest little Christmas story, and I could see it being made into a Hallmark movie. It is adorable how the characters meet! I also really enjoyed learning about the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas". Two thumbs up!
Love Delivered is a modern spin on the “pen pals” trope, which is a trope I love, so I really enjoyed that element of the story. It was actually the thing that made me interested in the book to begin with. The entire time while reading it, it reminded me of The Shop Around The Corner. It wasn’t just the story that was good. Elita was a great leading lady to follow along with. She was sweet, relatable, and did a lot of growing and maturing over the course of the story. I really liked Sidney too. He was swoony sweet, everything I love in a male lead. He and Elita together were so cute. The flirting, the letters, the budding romance that blossomed into true love. It was such an endearing and fun romance to read. I appreciated the faith elements of the story as well. They were interwoven in a way that was uplifting and not preachy. It really resonated with the spiritual season I’m in now and inspired me to explore my Bible more, which, I admit, is something I’ve always had trouble doing. And that ending! It was so, so sweet. I only wish it had been longer! Overall, I really enjoyed the book, so much that I ordered a paperback copy after finishing it to add to my bookshelves!
If you like sweet and clean contemporary romances, this book might be just the thing for you!
A light and sweet read. Even though it’s summer time I felt like reading a Christmas story 🤷🏻♀️😄
Elita 💌 Sidney
📬 Elita moved in with her grandmother to be her caregiver and found herself falling for a secret admirer through letters. I love letters and this story was such a sweet story. Sidney is the mailman delivering those letters. This story reminds me in some way of the movie ‘On the Twelfth Day of Christmas’, it’d be because at some point the secret admirer is sending a gift for each of the days leading to Christmas 🎄 I loved the creativity of the author of weaving the meaning of this Christmas song within her story, it was lovely. 📨
What a sweet story! The heroine, Elita, loves to read, so I liked her from the start. However, her mom thinks her reading habits have gone too far. So she ships her off to care for her grandmother. At first Elita is not happy about this. But her new life comes with some unexpected surprises, including a secret admirer. Elita receives poems and letters from her new mysterious friend. Then for the 12 days leading up to Christmas, she receives a letter and gift, each pertaining to the song “The 12 days of Christmas.” Christmas Day is the big day when Elita will learn who these letters are coming from. Will she be disappointed? Or will the magic of Christmas bring love to her life?
I fell in love with B.M. Baker's writing when I read From Blunder to Wonder and started reading all the books I could find by this author! The characters are real everyday type people with realistic jobs that I can relate to. Blessings and miracles happen to regular people every single day, and I appreciate the way this writer reminds the reader of that fact.
Elita is forced to take her head out of her books and face the realities of life while Sidney is doing his best to work as unto the Lord and give his best effort at work. Will she ever notice him? How will he get her attention?
Miracles await as you step into the pages of Love Delivered...just look for them.
This is a beautiful love story surrounding Christmas. Elita was taking care of her grandmother. While there, she started receiving poems in the mail from a secret admirer. Then letters started coming. In each letter for the twelve days of Christmas told what each verse of the song referred to in the Bible, including scripture. Could this be Elita's happy ever after? Would she be disappointed or happy to find out who her secret admirer is? Definitely worth reading.
I received a free book, and this is my honest opinion.
