You don’t have to be crazy to enjoy life, but it sure helps…
Having had her heart broken and dreams dashed, Emery Jane Wagner, DC has turned her time and attention to her new career. Believing there are no men left in the world who can treasure her heart and love her like her own father, she has all but given up on marriage. Until, a surprisingly thought-provoking lesson about worms gets her thinking, maybe, she has judged all men too harshly…especially one particular man.
After suffering an injury at work, union electrician Leland Sutton goes on disability and returns to his hometown to recover…starting off on the wrong foot by making an incredibly embarrassing blunder. In an attempt to speed up the healing process, upon his mom’s recommendation, he sees a local chiropractor and soon learns there is another kind of electricity he has never experienced before. Lee dedicates his free time to exploring this new realization, and helping a work-driven woman re-learn how to enjoy the fun in life.
When the electrical charge between them becomes too great to ignore, and as God does his healing work in Emery’s heart, a romance starts to spark. But, when past hurts come knocking on the door, will it kill the power source or strengthen the connection? Most of all, can God turn their blunders into wonder so they can trade their aches for happily ever laughter?
“Today should have been the start of her happily ever after. Instead, it felt like the beginning of her miserable forever.”
Nine years ago, Doctor Emery Jane Wagner experienced her worst nightmare firsthand - she was dumped on her wedding day by her high school sweetheart and man of her dreams.
Fast forward to a family celebration nine years later: Despite not attending, Emery gets a second chance at love when a mixup occurs at her family Memorial Day BBQ.
When Leland Sutton, electrician, walks into On the Straight Path Chiropractic looking for help after an accident at work, it puts him into Emery’s hands and his blunder turns to wonder! I loved watching the electricity develop between these two lonely people who had sworn off love.
Things I loved: 💜“I’ll admit I haven’t been praying about this struggle as much as I should be.” 💜The reminder that deliverance doesn’t always come immediately 💜Lee loves Russel Stover, too 💜The reminder that God answers our prayers and protects us from what we can’t see
For years I thought I didn’t have a funny bone. My husband laughs until tears run when he watches sitcoms. I can’t watch because I don’t laugh. I don’t even find any of them funny. So it’s understandable why I don’t reach for romcoms in literature. Well, this book had me giggling! My husband came into the room and suggested that if I was laughing while reading a book I needed to stuff my Kindle with the series. So I did! B.M. Baker, I love your sense of humour and your ability to carry it over to the page.
I highly recommend this first book in the ‘Wonders Never Cease’ Christian romcom series by B.M. Baker.
What a charming rom com I guess I will also label this as....I did enjoy it as it was amusing, satisfying, had a HEA, plenty of spiritual content. I liked the main characters with their loving families and care they display. Some blunders were actually based upon the author's own experiences but yet they were the catalyst the Lord used to bring the couple together:)
I even learned a bit about actual worm farming that her grandfather worked at...comparing the admirable men with silkworms while the rotten and hypocritical types to glow worms... Interesting tidbits of wisdom as it was so endearing when her grandfather encouraged to give a great a guy a chance despite the louses from previously * she had been stood up at the alter on her wedding day* (Not a spoiler as on the back of the book)
Overall; a cute story...I like to check out newer authors and see if worthwhile recommending perhaps; she is. ( I absolutely loved her other one I read " Until the last Note" as a Titanic inspired type one; another genre that appeals to me++...historical fiction.
This was such a sweet, cute story! I don't read a lot of rom-com because I find the idea of a book being non-stop funny rather exhausting.
But Baker has such a good balance of funny and serious. She has moments of laughter. And moments of truth and faith.
This was a very enjoyable read. Perfect for a hot summer day. The characters were delightful, and the "blunder" was hilarious. I always enjoy books with good fun family relationships too and Baker definitely has that.
Perfectly clean, whole some read.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author\publisher for promotional purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
I absolutely loved this book. I read it in 2 sittings. It's a Christian romantic comedy and flirting and banter is adorable. The more I read the more I smiled.
The prologue was perfect. It captures you into the story. I related so much to this book in different ways. I understood the heartbreak and fear Emery went through. I loved her personally. And Lee, who doesn’t love a handsome man who knows how to love with all his heart and full of charm. I enjoyed that the characters were late 20s and early 30s.
One of my favorite parts (besides all the cute moments between Lee and Emery) was Emery talking to her grandfather and the lesson he gave her. Overall loved it and enjoyed reading it.
This was entertaining to read because I never knew what “blunder” would come up next.
The lesson with worms was super interesting and I can totally adopt calling certain guys worms.
I’m not a romantic, so the romance was more than I prefer. While it was clean, there was an intense focus on physical appearance and feelings. This and a scene where a man tried to abduct a woman for lecherous intents makes me not recommend it for conservative teen readers sensitive to romantic content.
The family units were fun (though Kent was a bit controlling at times) and the big gatherings they had remind me of my family and fun times.
*I received this book as a gift from the author. I was not required to provide a review and am giving an honest review
This is an ARC read for me and a new author, also. I loved this book, not only for the humor but for the way God is brought into the story. Leland Sutton is an electrician who has gotten hurt on the job, so while recooperating, he returns to his home town to spend time with his mother and father. Now the fun begins. Lee stops at, what he believes to be his Aunt and Uncles house to spend Memorial day with the whole family. Even though many look somewhat familiar, his parents never arrive, so Lee leaves and goes to his parents house. Come to find out the house he went to used to be his Aunt and Uncles home, but they had moved, so he had spent Memorial Day with complete strangers. Then his mother convinces him that a Chirpractor is what he needs for his injured back and he goes to Dr. Emory Wagner. Sparks fly between the two immediately. Then Lee goes back to the house to apologize for crashing their Memorial Day bash and Dr. Emory opens the door. Things only get better for the two but the path is not smooth and has many bumps and blunders along the way. Only with Gods help does everything turn out right in the end
Ahhhh!!! Words cannot explain how wonderful this book has been! This is my first book by B M Baker and it will not be the last! Emery and Leland were so amazing, and their emotions were also written with great skill. Emery…she was so sweet and hurt so bad but I love how B.M. Baker gave her a happily ever after. And oh Lee! 😂☺️ He’s so funny and the poor guy is a magnet for embarrassment 😂 I also adore the name Leland ❤️Anyways, this was so worth my time. I’m so glad I was given the opportunity to read it. I am looking forward to reading more of this authors books ☺️🤗💕
This story is wonderful. It takes you low then swings you high. Some serious twists that have your heart pounding then crying and smiling again. Very inspiring!! I only wish my blunders turned to such wonders....although maybe it's in Gods time not in mine
He wonders why nobody knows him when he goes to the reunion And he wonders where his parents are. So he texts them and finds out where they are!!! And then he wonders why he went to the wrong address!! This blunder turned into a real wonder as he goes to a doctor abates out his sore back. Absolutely LOVED this book!!! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
I love finding new authors to read, so I’m so happy I had the chance to read Emery and Lee’s story. This is a clean romance with a side of laughter. I lost count of the number of times I laughed while reading this delightful story. Emery was left at the altar, nine years ago and thinks she’ll never find her “one”. Lee comes to Morton to recuperate from a job accident and goes to the wrong family get together. Emery is a chiropractor and luckily Lee’s family go to her, so they send him to her to help in his recovery. When Lee goes back to apologize to the family where he crashed this get together, Twilagail, Emery’s mom, invites him to dinner. As Emery and Lee spend more time together, they grow closer. He’s returning to Chicago and she won’t leave Morton. Can they come to a compromise? When Lee makes a big decision and goes to tell Emery, he finds her on the porch in another guys arms and leaves. Grab your copy and see what happens next. I’ll definitely be reading more books from this author.
I received an advance reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is the first book I have read by this author. I really enjoyed it. The Characters are great. While you're reading, you can see what is taking place in your mind. It's just like being there. I also like that this is Christian based. This book is definitely worth reading.
I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.

Review
Oh the concept, the themes, the romance, the writing style EVERY.SINGLE.THING is just brilliant. It's been a while since I read a Christian romance so addicting, once I started I literally couldn't stop, the one stop was the end! The book is a definite tearjerker, an emotional rollercoaster, a joy ride, a book with modern yet age old Christian themes and most of all CHRIST centered!
The book begins when Lee falls off a ladder and has hurt his back badly, he is asked to rest and not do ANY work, he decides to give his hometown a visit and rejuvenate under his moms care. His mom refers him to a chiropractor who's a woman who will challenge him and change his life for the better but he works in the city and she's in a small town how would a romance between them work at all? Dr. Emery couldn't attend the Memorial day family barbecue, but something interesting happens while she's not home! But atleast she has a new patient who's got gorgeous eyes and a good wit about him right! When doubts creep in and shadows lurk in the dark read to find out how Emery wades through the murky waters of distrust to have a relationship with Lee only to find out that he'll leave once he's healed!
The book is written really well the author is now on my list of AUTOBUY authors! The character development is perfection, the godly setting was perfectly played out, the themes were brilliantly set up, the plot was steady and building, the romance was a slow burn and the language will be easy to tap into for even a new reader!
Her heart was broken 9 yrs ago. It was so unexpected and took her a long time to let Hugo. Problem was, the town continued. To remember. She had become a medical professional and her clients loved her. But would that be enough for her life !
How can an intelligent man blunder into a family get together, sort of recognize people but after eleven years people change. Having a back injury, feeling pain and just not himself Leland excuses away the oddities. His family don't understand why he is missing his family's get together but they know he has a reason. Text messages clear up some mysteries and Lee gets home, still puzzling over his strange encounter. Lee's Mom recommends her Chiropractor and Lee is on his way to mending under the healing hands of the beautiful Emery. Em is recovering from a broken heart and vowed off men, for good. She is shocked at the spark she feels when she is adjusting Lee. God has a way of turning blunders into something wonderful, if one let's God show the way. An amazing story filled with a few blunders, some wonders and love wins out. I love authors who weave God's message of healing and salvation into their writing.

What a wonderful read! I enjoyed the characters - especially the wise Grandpa with the worm farm! The story caught me up from the first page and pulled me all the way through to the end. A definite page turner! I really enjoyed the fact that Emery even learned to forgive and extend it by sending the Good News to Jameson! I received an ARC copy and the opinions expressed are mine and are wholeheartedly genuine!
What a wonderful book! Funny, healing, challenging. B M Baker is a new author for me and I don't normally do this genre. However, I was captivated from the beginning and was sad when it ended. Highly Recommended 5/5
[Disclaimer: I received this ARC from Bookfunnel and voluntary read and reviewed it]
This is a sweet romantic comedy with strong characters in Emery and Lee. The author does a great job pulling you in and keeping you reading right to the end. It's a clean romance, is well written and is an enjoyable read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This is a sweet and wholly relatable story that I enjoyed. I really liked the family connections, and the first blunder was a doozy. The characters were completely perfect for each other. So much fun. I received a copy from the author. The thoughts are my own.
This was a sweet and fun read. I have enjoyed both of their families and their close relationship. I will read more from this author and from this series.
Rating: 4 stars Wonders Never Cease Series Book 1 Kinde Unlimited
Loved this book! I needed something fun to read and this is definitely in the sweet romantic comedy top level for me! Ms Baker makes things so real with her "regular" characters. She brings real life experiences with believable characters to light with her descriptive words. You can feel and empathize with the pain Lee is in and understand the treatment modalities that Emery chooses to use. The blunders are PRICELESS and fun! The plot twists believable. This is easily one of my favorite summer reads so far.
I could not stop reading this book! It held my attention from page one. The characters were charming and the storyline was great. Being from central Illinois myself drew me to read this book and I will definitely be watching for more from this author!
Wow, apart from being a Christian Rom-Com which I realized too late... The main character still lives with her parents at age what 27? And her family is involved in her whole dating business? Her Dad talking to the love interest about his intentions, please are we stuck in 1800?
Such a great sweet story! Exactly what I needed to read. It happily kept me smiling and laughing the whole way through. And Grandpa's worm knowledge was the best!
This is a sweet modern tale of two faithful souls starting out as friends and becoming lovers. Emery, the town of Morton's Chiropractor, has had her heart broken in such a detrimental way that has caused her to swear off dating for years. Lee, a couple years older than Emery, is back home in Morton recovering from a back injury. Being older than Emery and having left right out of highschool, the two never crossed paths until his mother suggests he visit her Chiropractor to help with his recovery. The two seem immediately taken with each other from the start but only remain friendly since Lee plans to return to his life in the city after his recovery and Emery is still swearing off men. Throw in a holiday blunder, a few laughs, a little suspense, the value of family and a load of growing attraction between our MCs, and this story takes you on quite the adventure. B.M. has a talent for keeping you engaged in this sweet, faith-based and comical love story.
P.S. I really enjoyed Grandpa Stafford's worm-wisdom and how he correlates it to God.
I've loved reading BM Baker's books. When she said she's releasing a romcom, I've been waiting to read it. I love the story especially the blunder that became the reason for the start of everything. What I loved the most was that it's okay to have a character who has no past issues. Not every lead have to have complicated back story. Looking forward to reading upcoming books in this series!!!
This was my first book by B.M. Baker and my favorite part about her writing is that she has woven faith throughout the entire book. I thought the relationship between Emery and Leland was sweet and they had cute banter. There were very few obstacles to overcome and for the most part was a story about two people finding each other and how God’s timing was perfect. There were a few things that were a tad too predictable in my opinion, but all in all this was a fun Christian rom-com.
