From a lifetime of violin performance to owner of The Music City Shoppe, one would think Alex Martin’s life has been one success after another. But on the heels of a medical diagnosis that feels too much like another from his past, Alex wrestles with the decision he has to make and the consequences it may bring.
Former Nashville studio musician Grant Tracy is now living out his greatest dream as a banjo player for a local bluegrass band. Thriving and finding fulfillment in his new career, Grant believes he has everything he needs to be happy, until he is sent reeling with the realization that his dream may be taken from him far too early.
Serene Daley lives the simple life, serving as the sole caregiver to her blind and ailing Pa-pa, as well as ministering to the world through music by way of the internet. As her Pa-pa’s health continues to decline, Serene begins to worry about her own future and seeks God’s guidance on what her next step should be.
As memories are relived, dreams threatened, hearts broken, and faith stretched, can Alex, Grant, and Serene trust their life’s song to The Master Musician to reharmonize each dissonant part into a beautiful symphony?
Endorsement: The sixth installment in the A Melody of Love series, The Musician’s Dream is a beautiful addition to this faith-filled series. As always, Baker delivers a story packed with biblical truths, real struggles, and of course the sweet romance brought on by matchmaker Alex Martin!
In this intricate and tender conclusion to the Melody of Love series, Baker gives us two stories in one, weaving together themes and ultimately uniting them into one masterpiece. Lost loved ones and lost dreams are the backdrop for each character learning to love more authentically and pursue God's will more completely. What I loved most about The Musician's Dream was the many layers to this story: a sweet "new romance" mingled with a tender "old love" story; a tale of losing what matters most and yet finding new dreams; and testimonies of finding in Jesus true meaning that even the greatest success could never bring and the greatest loss not take away.
Such a sweet and tender romance! B.M. Baker has beautifully crafted a faith-based story which tugs at one’s heart in multiple ways. A book not to be missed!
I was honored when B.M. Baker offered me an advance copy of this inspirational novel, especially as I’ve only read Book 5 in the series (5-stars BTW). The Musician’s Dream weaves the stories of Alex and Emma with that of Grant and Serene like a piece of music all its own. The notes of each character’s inner struggles, in particular that of how they relate to God and therefore relate to each other, simply dance across the pages. The two stories carried me from one emotional situation to the next, until that magical moment of their happy endings. I definitely shed a number of tears especially in the telling of Alex and Emma’s romance which was as beautiful as it was heartbreaking. But in the end, the true message was one of God’s love and mercy and hope. Definitely recommend!

The Musicians Dream is a book I finished in just half a day and a long night of on and off reading. I COULDN'T put it down, but had to for the sake of my baby or else I'd have finished it in three hours! I absolutely love the book because it has romance, banter, family values, brokenness, healing, and most importantly CHRIST! I love how the author has written the intricacy that is Christian values that everyone is on a need to know basis, I loved the themes, the drama and the music. I couldn't get enough of the book and highlighted so much because it's so inspiring, touching and healing I can definitely see myself wanting to re read already!
The book is not for the light hearted because it's such an emotional roller coaster ride, it has a few trigger warnings so make sure to check it out.
The story is about a Christian hymnal YouTuber SD from Music with Meaning and Grant Tracy the banjo player from a bluegrass band. Serene is a firm believer that God does everything for good and with purpose so everytime she uploads on Sunday it's because she's been blessed but also dealt a hard hand and still chooses to praise God. Grant Tracy can't stand Bible thumpers atleast that's what he thought until he heard SD sing and then he tolerated it for her videos because he wanted to know what gave her the serenity in her eyes and the peace that seemed to ebb and flow through her fingers. What they both don't expect is to meet each other but will they fall in love with such a huge gap in their values? Will Alex's match making abilities work out or will he fail for once?
If you like a book that catches your attention right away, and steadily holds on to it until the end, The Musician’s Dream, by B.M.Baker, is for you. This book will have you laughing, crying, and even sitting on the edge of your seat in anticipation of what happens next. You’ll find yourself reading faster in one moment, to see how a situation turns out, and then a few pages later slowing down because you don’t want the moment to end. Baker introduces a variety of characters, and beautifully develops each one with their own real-life struggles. Themes of music, faith and hope are uniquely intertwined throughout the book. You will be inspired as her characters eloquently delve into questions like, how do I find and understand my purpose in life, and what is it about Christians that they can somehow seem at peace despite being in the midst of a storm. But it’s not all about the deep stuff; it’s also about a small-town music shop, bluegrass vs. classical, and the love of friends and family as you’re just starting out and as you’re growing old. I encourage you to read The Musician’s Dream and like me, you’ll immediately add all of B.M.Baker’s books to your to-be-read list. I received an Advanced Reader Copy, but this review is submitted voluntarily.
The musician's dream is a beautiful story. So we'll written I believe B.M Baker is the next Karen Kingsbury of christian romance. Her story doesn't just honor God it speaks gospel truth to her readers giving them role models to look up to and find hope in. This story is the 6th installment in her a melody of love series. She does a wonderful job with world building and character building these are characters and a place that take root in your mind. You walk the music city shop with grant and Serene. You feel all of their emotions and cheer them all on in the story. I love how she brings other characters from the previous novels in but not giving too much away from their stories but enough to reconnect them and keep the reader wanting to go back and revisit their stories. Grant, Serene and Alex take center stage of this novel and I love how their stories twine together and how the music city shop really is a family it's not just a job. Each character no matter how small their part in this story is important. They learn, they grow, faith is center in this book, God is at the heart and the truth that we are all made in his image, that he loves and cares for each of us and chases after us with a love that is unconditional.
I recommend this story it is cozy, encouraging, faith filled and you can't help but learn and grow with the characters.
I was so happy to have received an ARC copy by B.M. Baker. All opinions are voluntarily shared and a positive review was not required.
Wow what an amazing book!!! I loved seeing Grant start to believe and trust in God to find peace and healing and how his and Serene’e love story begins. It was really unique and special at the same time. The dual timeline worked well into the story, and gave the story line added depth. It was so sad when Serene’s father passed away, that raw emotion of it all. The way everyone’s story came together and well Alex finding out what he did was just beautiful too (won’t share more as I don’t want to spoil it but it was amazing). Such a great book for any music lover, Christian and anyone who loves a clean romance.
I look forward to hearing Lila’s story and the pervious ones in the series as I haven’t read them.
I loved this story! It seems that’s the only thing I say with every book I read but it’s the truth 🤷🏻♀️ This is my first contemporary novel and dual timeline story, and first read from this author as well, and it won’t be my last! Let me tell you, B.M.Baker writing was exceptional. I never felt lost while switching from one timeline to the other, in fact I was looking forward to it as I wanted to know more in detail about the characters’ lives. I loved every minute I spent with the characters of ‘The Musician’s Dream’. I cheered for their victories and I cried through their trials, I felt connected, like a family. Truly well and beautifully written. Like Larry, the cucumber, said to Bob, the tomato, “I laughed, I cried, it moved me, Bob”, and it truly did! 😁
I’m not a musician but I LOVE classical music so much that that’s what I listen most of the time, in fact my radio in the kitchen of my house is on a classical music station all day long 🤷🏻♀️ Perhaps my love for music comes from having a father that was a musician and will give us (to my siblings and me) “clarinet concerts” on Fridays evenings when we were little, like Pa Ingalls did on LHOTP 😁 Maybe for that reason I really enjoyed all the music reference throughout the story. 😊
I can continue my ramblings about characters, the Music City Shoppe, instruments, etc. but I won’t because you’ve to experience it for yourself 😉 So if you like music and dual timeline stories this is the book for you, you’ll love it!
As always, I can’t finish this review without sharing some favorite quotes…
“Because God is in the business of turning broken chords into beautiful melodies.”
“To play a wrong note is insignificant. To play without passion is inexcusable.”
“When a song means something to you, and you feel it personally, that’s when the music comes alive to the listener. ”
“I found true purpose is in living my life for the One who, not only gave me life, but gave me a new life too. Once I started glorifying Him instead of myself, when my focus was no longer self serving, everything took on new meaning…and I wanted everyone else to experience what I had, in turning my life over to God and choosing to follow His plan for my life.”
*I received an eARC of this book from the author for review. All opinions and thoughts expressed are my own.*
First off, grab a box of tissues, because you will need them while reading some parts of this book. Get ready to be inspired! God is definitely answering prayers.
I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.

I’ll start off by saying, I wasn’t sure how a book could focus so much on Alex’s past. I mean, the reader already got to know him so well over the course of the previous five books, but I was pleasantly surprised!
The author incorporated a present day storyline along with the back flashes of Alex’s life, and weaved both together well so that it was gripping and intriguing, never confusing or unnecessary.
As with each of this author's previous titles I’ve read, this one had sweet and meaningful romance, deep characters, emotion, heart, and faith.
The journey with Serene and caring for and eventually losing her father struck a chord in me. Having been through as much myself, it brought me to tears.
The book, and this series, ended off absolutely perfect, with everything wrapping up with grand “happily ever after” and offering one last plot twist which made it all even better.
It was a lovely book concluding a wonderful series!
