Kerrelyn Sparks apparently has issues with reality. After writing more than a dozen books about vampires, she has now completely gone off the deep end and wound up on another planet. But how thrilling that she can share this magical new world with her readers! Although she is best known (so far) for the Love at Stake series, which has hit as high as number 5 on the New York Times list and 22 on the USA Today list, she hopes her readers will love The Embraced as much as they did her merry band of vamps and shifters. To learn more about her paranormal, historical, and upcoming out-of-this-world fantasy romances, please visit Kerrelyn on Facebook, Twitter, or her website at www.kerrelynsparks.com.

Kerrelyn loves hearing from readers, even those who howl at the moon. Letters may be sent to P.O. Box 5512, Katy, TX 77491-5512. If you would like bookmarks and signed bookplates, please mail a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope to her P.O. Box, and she will send those items to you.

Eat Prey Love by Kerrelyn Sparks
Love at Stake series book 9. Paranormal romance with shifters and vampires. Can be read as a stand-alone but better if at least a couple of the preceding series books are read. The “family” of vampires and relatives grow from the first book, How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire.
Carlos is a panther shifter. His goal is to find a female of his race and prevent the extinction of his race. Falling in love with a human is against all his dreams.
Caitlyn falls for Carlos at first glance. Why does he keep kissing and then rejecting her?

A touch of romantic suspense while the couple works to advance his goals. A bit angsty as Carlos waffles between his lust and his goals. I think Caitlyn should have walked away once or twice but she is dedicated to her job of interpreter.
Overall entertaining, steamy and witty.

4.4 audiobook-
This was my favorite book in the series so far. Carlos the Were Panther finds his irritable irresistible cat nip of a woman and she has a snarky sense of humor. Cat jokes plus, I burst out laughing so many times my family members might have been considering my sanity. She was strong willed, unfaltering and quick with her lip. I liked her and would hang out with her any day.
I am not spoiling this read by telling you who she is, what happens or any other details. You know it will end in a HEA that is the authors style. You know it is a romance. Read it, enjoy is it a saucer of cream. :D

Kerrelyn Sparks never falls to make me laugh, I love this series. Eat Prey Love is the same as all of her books fun and sexy. I was very pleased how Carlos and Caitlyn found each other and the adventure they had together. I loved the emotions between the two lost sisters and I hope to get to read about the brother one day, I don't know about the rest of you but I think he needs a female vampire. It would be nice to see all of the Whelan siblings all together. Maybe that will help dear old dad come around. I love how Sparks keeps to the storyline and romance in this series. This is a true paranormal romance story.

This was my first exposure to this author. It may be a bit too "campy" for me. I will probably try one more but the overall impression is just ok.

The male lead was too effeminate for me. I just have no desire for a man who will put in a show wearing a pink sequined thong. Thank goodness that was just a recollection. I also have zero respect for a man who pretended to be gay and allows a female friend to repeatedly undress in front of him because of this. All the while "admiring her body" and he thinks it is funny when she discovers being dupped for years. Yep I did not like Carlos. Combine that with the fact that he denies the heroine for much of the story because he wants a werepanther mate and I never warmed up to him.

I actually liked the heroine. I liked that she was not a badass and her "I was aiming for his chest" really did remain funny throughout the book. I cannot say I agreed with her relentless pursuit of Carlos, but I guess someone needed to "man" up because it certainly was not him!

As for the story, it was interesting but pretty cliche. I thought some of the suspense side made no sense and we did not get closure theere. Plus the whole advertised plot (about him finding a mother for his kids) was virtually nonexistent. There was zero time with the kids after they got together. She only met them briefly before. It felt very unfinished.

A great book!

I just loved Carlos and Caitlyn was awesome. Carlos did upset me in the beginning of the book, with his continuous refusal to have anything to do with Caitlyn because she was human and not a shifter. Yes, I understand he had to think about the fact that his kind was dying out, but sometimes love is more important. Luckily he saw the light in the second half, and lucky for him Caitlyn didn’t allow him to ignore her.

Great humour, romance and plot.

Oh man what a book!

As soon as it was said that Shanna's sister Caitlyn Whelan was going to be in this book I knew that there was going to be excitement and drama. Why? Because Caitlyn was clueless to the Vamp and Shifter life, and her father was bound to be around trying to stir up drama.

I was right!

Caitlyn is invited by Shanna to Tino's birthday party. Caitlyn had no clue that her long lost sister was married or had children. Their father warned Caitlyn to stay away, which only made Caitlyn want to know what was going on!

Caitlyn is drawn to Carlos, a were-panther, and it was animal attraction from the start! But Carlos is on the prowl for another were-panther and fights at every turn to avoid falling for Caitlyn.

With love, you don't have a choice. Caitlyn and Carlos are unable to deny what they have for very long. It was destined to be. If only they can live through the events that through them together in the first place.

I love love love this book and all of the books in the Love at Stake Series. This is the type of book where you can't put it down until you realize its 3am and you have to work the next morning!

I highly suggest you pick this up at your local bookstore, library or amazon.com!

***Called people Rascals & Rascally 3 times. A shifter, a person & a tribal leader - "rascal" reminds me too much of Elmer Fudd. It ruins the console.

Lucky thing the story itself was really good. This was a girl chasing her man & getting mad and frustrated because he is being stupid. He is trying to avoid her, and she isn't giving him the chance.

A few new long term characters are introduced & now the series can keep going for another 10 books.

Larger print than normal, and I was able to read this in a day.

And this is Carlos and Caitlyn's book finished. This one was really fun to read. At first I thought that there will be a lot of pushing and pulling from Carlos side, but it turns out that it will not be the case. He was trying to resist Caitlyn, but in reality he wasn't trying really hard. And he gave up on his feelings to her quite easily...which was perfect for me 😃.

Roll on book number 10 - Connor and Marielle...

Easy to read and somewhat enjoyable, with decent banter, but the heroine constantly throwing herself at the hero was as unbearable as him giving her mixed signals. The microaggressions were off-putting, and with no epilogue, their happily ever after feels incomplete.

Eat, Prey, Love is Book 9 in Kerrelyn Sparks' Love at Stake series. I was told that its ok to skip around in the series and I think I agree. I read the first couple of books, I took a break and then ended up reading this one. I really didn't feel like I was missing anything or confused in any way. Oh and by the way, I enjoyed the book!! LOL!!

In this installment, we meet Caitlyn Whelan. If you've read the first book, you'll remember that we were introduced to this world and to Shanna Whelan. Shanna and Caitlyn are sisters. But they were separated when they were kids. Their father, Sean, sent Shanna away to school and didn't allow them to communicate. He would throw away or hide the letters that they sent to each other. Sean is the head of the Stake Out team for the CIA. Their goal is to rid the world of vampires, even the good ones. So Shanna marrying and having kids with a vampire puts her on Sean's bad side, to say the least. BUT, he DOES speak to her and he seems to love the kids. Anyways, this book is about Caitlyn. Shanna and Caitlyn have finally reconnected and Caitlyn is going to come work for McKay Security (the company that guards lots of good vamps). On her first night, she meets Carlos Panterra, a panther shape shifter. Its lust at first sight. But Carlos has to find another were-panther so that he can keep his species going and has planned a trip to South America. Caitlyn is falling in love with Carlos and wants to help him, even if it is to help him find someone else.

Of course, on their travels, they go through things together that bring them closer together. But Carlos has some secrets. Secrets that will affect Caitlyn. Will he reveal his secrets? Can Caitlyn overcome the fact that Carlos was hiding things from her? And can she handle what he's hiding?

This book is a lot hotter than some of the recent books I've been reading so I really enjoyed it. I don't LOVE were-animal books. Vampires, yes. Werewolves, no so much. I'm not saying that I don't like the wereanimal books; they just aren't my first choice. And I have no good reason (especially since I'm hot for Alcide on True Blood). Having said that, I still really liked this book. There was some action, which is always nice. There were some laughs because Caitlyn is SUCH a little smart-ass!!! Its GREAT! Carlos will be dismissing her or disregarding her and she'll just throw a one liner back at him. Too funny!!! And there were some sad parts also. I didn't really cry but Carlos has been through some nasty shit. And Caitlyn is SO happy to be back with her sister. Its so sweet. So there are lots of emotions as you go through the book and, to me, that along with a hot hero and a string sassy heroine make an EXCELLENT book.

One quick thing about skipping books. Now, I don't feel like I was confused or left out or anything BUT there have been changes. There are couples that weren't couples before. Shanna has 2 kids now and when I read the last book, she was still only pregnant with her first kid. So I wish I would have been able to, kind of, go through these things with her and to "watch" her kids grow but that's just a personal thing with me. I love really digging in to these characters' lives. But again, it did NOT impact my enjoyment of the book. Actually, now that I think of it, it kind of makes me want to go back and read more of the middle books!!! So I recommend this book! Really enjoyed it!!!

No one writes mutual pining like Kerrelyn Sparks! And it's not even a trope I particularly enjoy, but it was cute here. So cute.

This book is about Carlos (remember though that the cover models were accidentally switched, so the gentleman on this cover is actually based on Robbie!!) the were-panther. And Caitlyn, who is Shanna's sister who is finally reconnecting with her sister after learning the truth of how crappy their dads been. Carlos needs to find more were-panthers since the species is on the verge of extinction and needs to ignore his attraction to Caitlyn. She also has psychic abilities though and can understand any language and, of course, has an affinity for cats of all sorts. So we get a fun jungle adventure, meet the next Big Bad Master Han and his clay soldier vampire army (and dear sweet Russell!!), and also get fun montages of mutual pining and not being able to act on the attraction. Plus a neat little training montage. All the while peppered with Kerrelyn Sparks signature humor throughout.

Another lovely little book in this series, I enjoyed this reread!

Eat Prey Love (Love at Stake, #9) by Kerrelyn Sparks Eat Prey Love by Kerrelyn Sparks is the 9th installment in the Love at Stakes series. This book features were-panther, Carlos Panterra and mortal younger sister to Shanna Draganesti, Caitlyn. This book picks up immediately after Robby and Olivia's book, The Vampire and the Virgin.

First thought... What do you mean Carlos isn't gay?? That's right, the fun-loving, olive-skinned, gorgeous gay man introduced in Ian and Toni's book, All I Want For Christmas is a Vampire has officially come out of the closet. That's right, due to his animal magnetism and instant appeal to women, Carlos has been disguising himself as a gay man. That is, until he finds the right female. Carlos' story is about his quest to find a female were-panther mate to help take care of his adopted children and to continue his species.

In comes Caitlyn Whelan, Shanna's gorgeous sister who sees right through Carlos' disguise. Caitlyn is thrown into the mix, when she attends a Birthday party for the nephew she never even new she had. Turns out, Caitlyn's father, Sean Whelan has been keeping a lot of things from the family, including his oldest daughter, Shanna and her affiliation with the Undead world. Immediately after her arrival, Caitlyn catches a glimpse of her nephew flying, and all too quickly she's thrown into the paranonormal world surrounding her.

Eat Prey Love was another great addition to the Sparks collection. Caitlyn proves to be an uncommon heroin, or rather, a breath of fresh air for the paranormal romance genre. As soon as Caitlyn sets eyes on her kitty, she pounces, and the seduction begins. Caitlyn's smart, witty, and caring. But her best quality, in my opinion, is her determination to win the heart of a Panther.

From the steamy first kiss, Carlos' game plan is turned upside down. The attraction is immediate and Caitlyn seems to be everything Carlos wants in a woman. Except for one thing, the most important thing....she's not a panther. Carlos knows he has to avoid her at all costs because in the end, the temptation may destroy them both.

This was a fun read. Especially since we got to spend some time with characters (uhhmm I <3 Angus)from previous books. Sparks is an expert with tongue & cheek humor, and this book does not disappoint. Filled to the brim with action, ear to ear grins, and sexual tension, this book is an absolute delight. Up next in the Love at Stakes series is Vampire Mine, featuring one of my favorite vampires, Connor Buchannan, scheduled to release March 29, 2011.

Quotes:
She lifted her head, clasped the gun with both hands, and took aim. Bam! She swayed back from the recoil, bumping against Carlos’s chest. He steadied her, holding her against him. The paper man shuddered with a hit.

“You did it!” Phineas ran up to the counter and pushed the button to activate the pulley that would slide the paper target close to them.

“Damn, woman.” Phineas gave her a horrified look. “Remind me never to make you angry.”

Caitlyn gasped as the paper came close enough for her to spot the bullet hole with her mortal vision. “Oh dear.”

Carlos winced. She’d blasted the man right through his balls. “Well, I think we should be positive about this.”

She looked over her shoulder at him with a grateful smile. “That’s what I always say. We should look at the bright side.”

Carlos returned her smile. With a small mental jolt he realized his headache was much better. The scent and feel of her was so damned sweet.

“There ain’t no bright side,” Phineas objected. “The man’s got no gonads.”

“But she hit the target,” Carlos said.

“The man has got no gonads,” Phineas repeated forcefully.

“It was an accident.” Caitlyn set her gun on the counter. “I was aiming for his chest.”

“You blew his pecker into Connecticut,” Phineas muttered.

She grinned. “I think you have issues, Phineas. It was only a paper pecker.”

“The worst kind,” Carlos added.

She regarded him nonchalantly. “What do you eat? Field mice?”

He shot her an annoyed look. “No. I’m a big cat. I could take down a horse.”

She grimaced. “You eat raw meat?”

Lift that skirt a little higher and find out. He flexed his hands on the steering wheel. “I was thinking about stopping at a restaurant. Would you care to join me?”

She shifted in the car seat to face him, causing him to glance at her legs once again. “Are you asking me out?”

“No.”

“Will you purr if I tickle you behind the ears?”

“No.”

“Will you dance the samba for me in your hot pink sequined thong?”

“No.”

“Do you always say no?”

His mouth twitched. “No.”

She sighed and tugged her skirt down a bit. “I’m afraid I was a bit rude.”

He shrugged. “No more than usual.”

She swatted his shoulder. “I’m not rude! Well, not normally.”

“What’s wrong?” Carlos demanded from the hallway.

“You,” she muttered.

“I heard that. I have super hearing and vision.”

“Well, isn’t that just super.” She swiped her hands along the foot of the bed. Hadn’t she left a robe there? “So do you have X-ray vision like Superman? Can you see through the door?”

“No.”

She enjoyed taunting him. He deserved it. “What a shame. Since I’m standing here stark naked.” She gasped when the door crashed open. Light spilled in from the hallway, surrounding his tall frame. “You pervert!”

He scoffed. “You lied.”

“You broke my door!”

“Only the lock. The door still works.”

Yum, werepanther Carlos...

Renewing family ties with her long lost sister, Caitlin discovers there's a whole a hidden world of paranormal beings - and that she is related to a fair number of them including her sister Shanna's children and vamp hubby - when Caitlin meets the gorgeous vamp members of Shanna's extended Romatech 'family'. But while vamps are great to look at, it is the sultry shifter Carlos Pantera who really gets Caitlin's heart pumping and throws her libido into overdrive. Unfortunately, the sexy cat is holding out on her and denying their overwhelming attraction because Carlos is on a mission to find a were-mate to help bolster the numbers of his endangered species and he has a whole lot of hidden anguish from the loss of his family and his clan to keep him committed to his quest.

I absolutely loved Eat Prey Love, it was funny, very steamy and very satisfying. Caitlin is such an upbeat heroine and I just loved her psycholinguistic talent - she can instantly learn languages she hears spoken. I thought it was great that even though she is being trained for her new job with MacKay Security and Investigations, Caitlin doesn't suddenly morph into kitt-butt-woman. Instead, Caitlin stays absolutely hopeless in the fighting department - and there is a humorous running gag throughout the book that goes along with that.

Carlos is wonderfully tormented by his attraction to the woman he just can't have. It may seem a bit perverse, but I really liked that Caitlin doesn't give up on the love that she wants and that she turns the thumbscrews on Carlos - flirting and teasing to keep the sensual tension high. This makes the back and forth banter between the pair quite entertaining. I was glad that there was no quick and easy happily ever after for the pair - it was well worth the wait, and oh so satisfying when Caitlin finally wore Carlos down. I also found it a refreshing a change of pace that Caitlin knew up front about Carlos' nature, instead of it being the secret the hero just can't figure out how to spill as in many of Sparks' other books.

In the background, Sparks brings back most of our old favorites from previous books which is always fun, exposes a bit more of Caitlin sister Shanna's background - and gives us a reason to hate their father even more. And Sparks also adds to her cast in both the ally and villain departments - however, the series' illusive uber-villain is notably absent in this one.

So I loved Eat Prey Love, which was my favorite in Spark's series in a while, and found that Carlos was a nice change of pace from Sparks' kilted and fangy heroes. And even though I was lucky enough to be given an ARC copy of Eat Prey Love through Amazon's Vine - there is no question that I would have purchased this if I hadn't been so lucky and Eat Prey Love would have been worth every penny.

Another great novel in the Love at Stake series from author Kerrely Sparks! In Eat Prey Love, Sparks takes you on a thrilling adventure through the Asian jungle wrought with danger, mystery and passion.

Carlos is on the hunt for a mate and he only has one requirement; she must be a were-panther. His race is endangered and he has been traveling across the world to find more of his kind; not just for himself but also for the five orphaned were-panther children that he has taken in.
When he meets eyes with the beautiful, Caitlyn Whelan, his instincts scream ‘Mine’ but he knows with one sniff that she isn’t a panther, and being Shanna’s sister and daughter to the head guy in the CIA’s Stake-Out Team make’s her even more off-limits. But Caitlyn is determined to explore their connection and prove to Carlos that she more then makes up for being merely mortal. With some wilily matchmakers to help her along Carlos has his work cut out for him trying to resist his tempting new co-worker and keep them alive through the perils of the jungle.

I have to admit that it took me a while to pick up this book because I really wasn’t that interested in Carlos; he’s gay, he’s not gay, but he is, no he’s not. I was still skeptical at the begging but after a few pages I got sucked into the story and it wouldn’t spit me out until the very end.
Eat Prey Love had action, adventure, mystery and sensuality; with old characters I loved and new intriguing characters introduced. It follows the events of The Vampire and the Virgin but is fabulous as a standalone; following it’s own smaller plot while the larger plot continues on in the background and throughout the series.
Carlos and Caitlyn had instantaneous electrifying chemistry, complete animal magnetism despite Caitlyn being mortal. Their passion is palpable in each scene together. Although Cailtyn came off a bit crazy-stalker-lady in the beginning, you have got to give her credit for sticking to her guns and not backing down. She sees what she wants and she doesn’t give up until she has it. And when these two get together they bring down the house. There relationship doesn’t fully develop until your well into the book and even then you still have a good amount of suspense in their relationship, which kept it interesting.
The action was continuous with several new twists that will be interesting to see how they affect the series in general and the world building written to perfection. Just what I like to see in my reads! A must read book and series all together!

Book 9 in the Love at Stake series.

I didn’t think I was going to enjoy this story that much, as I wasn’t very interested in Carlos. I always thought he was a great secondary character, but I was concerned he wouldn’t make that great of a hero. Boy was I wrong! And I LOVED his woman, Caitlyn, who is hands down the most stubborn, feisty, and fiery heroine in the Love at Stake series so far! She gave Carlos a run for his money and I loved that. Caitlyn had a hard job ahead of her- she had to prove that she was the one he loved, not some unknown were-panther female.

This is the story of Carlos Panterra, who we originally met in Ian and Toni’s story All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire. Carlos took a job at McKay Security & Investigation. Now he wants to go and find a panther shape-shifter mate so he can help to repopulate his species which is on its way to extinction. Enter Caitlyn Whelan, Shanna’s younger sister. Caitlyn, just like her father and sister, has high psychic powers; expect hers is a little different. She can learn a new language within a few hours of hearing it. Animals also have always been attracted her. Carlos and Caitlyn’s attraction is immediate. Caitlyn also takes a job at McKay S&I, and it’s Carlos’ job to train her. We get many a heated moments because of this. However, Carlos tries to stay away from her as best he can because he is determined to find a were-panther mate and doesn’t want to hurt her feelings. However, because of Caitlyn’s gifts and the fact that her previous government job she traveled around the world she winds up accompanying Carlos’ trip to Asia. There ends up being a trap to find were-cats and Carlos and Caitlyn find themselves at the mercy of the minions (guardians) of “Master Han.”

Ms. Sparks writing just keeps getting better and better! Her loves scenes are so much better written as well as the action! The plots are becoming more non-straightforward, which is nice to keep it fresh. However, I don’t want them getting too complicated and serious, otherwise I’m afraid it will lose its fun and humor (like so many other PNR series out there that take themselves WAY too seriously).

I zoomed through this book. This is my favorite of the series so far. Carlos the were-panther is such a hot kitty! Caitlyn is Shanna's long lost sister. They are finally reunited and it is very touching. I hate their father more and more in each book. Carlos fights his attraction to Caitlyn from the get go and sometimes is a total jerk to her . But they made a fantastic couple .

There was so much action in this book I totally loved it. Some super hot lovin . Just when I thought the danger was over it wasn't. There was a new baddie in this book and so it will be interesting to see where this leads later in the other books. I really loved learning more about the shifters . I loved the way that she went about describing the lives of the shifters and the orphans that Carlos took in . Caitlyn has such a great sense of humor and there were so many lol moments. I hope there are some kitties for them later in the future.

Although all the elements that I love in this series was there, humor & hot romance, this one had a more serious tone to it.
There was more cloak-and-dagger with Caitlyn and Carlos who are on an assignment that takes them to dangerous and mysterious places filled with myths and legends that can get them killed.
Caitlyn is Shanna's baby sister and has a secret ability of her own.
From the first second she and Carlos meet they are catapulted into their attraction to each other. The chemistry burns hot and fast.
Both characters are well developed and the story is fast paced.
A fun, sexy and entertaining story!

After Be Still My Vampire Heart, Angus and Emma's book, this is my second favorite in Love at Stake series. Lots of quirky characters and laugh out loud moments. I usually prefer books where the hero chase after his love interest. In this I was entertained by Caitlyn's shenanigans while she shamelessly chased after Carlos. The dialogues between them was hilarious. This was more of a shifter book and I was glad of the diversion from the vampires because the last two books were disappointing and I was thinking about discontinuing this series. Well I'm glad I didn't.

"4.5 stars" Eat Prey Love is the ninth full-length novel in Kerrelyn Sparks’s Love at Stake series. This one pairs panther shifter Carlos with Shanna’s younger sister, Caitlyn. Carlos has become an adoptive father to five panther shifter orphans and feels it’s his duty to find a female of his kind to carry on their line. Caitlyn has just lost her job with the State Department, and after many years apart, she finally reconnects with Shanna during little Constantine’s fourth birthday party. Shanna offers Caitlyn a job working for MacKay Security & Investigations, which places her in close proximity with Carlos. There’s an instant spark between the pair, but Carlos is resistant to getting involved with her, because she’s not a shifter. Even though Carlos is eager to leave on a trip to Thailand to follow a lead on finding a panther mate, Angus insists that he personally train Caitlyn first, which proves to be an exercise in sexual frustration. Then knowing her psychic talents could be of help to him, Caitlyn insinuates herself into accompanying him on his trip. Carlos continues to fight his attraction to her, but as they face down all sorts of dangers in the Asian jungle, including a powerful new vampire cult, he comes to realize that, cat or not, she’s the only woman for him.

Carlos was introduced in the fifth book of the series, All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire, as one of Toni’s best friends. Ever since then, he’s allowed her and pretty much everyone he’s met to believe that he’s gay, because it’s a convenient way to keep women from pursuing him. After losing his entire family in Brazil when their village was massacred, he’s felt a strong pull toward the duty of propagating his race, since he believes that panther shifters are now an endangered species. To do that, though, he needs a panther mate, but there are no females of age that he knows about. He also wants a mother for the five, orphaned panther children he adopted following the massacre. Carlos had just gotten a lead on a possible panther pack in Thailand and is planning a trip there, when he meets Caitlyn at the birthday party. Sparks immediately fly between them, but he knows he can’t allow himself to get close to her until Angus forces the issue by insisting that he train MacKay S & I’s newest employee and later by assigning her to accompany Carlos on his trip. Still, Carlos fights the attraction. Although he knows that it’s possible to turn a human into a shifter, many don’t survive the transition, and once Carlos realizes just how much he’s come to care about Caitlyn, he can’t allow her to take the risk. As they trek through the Thai jungle, making some surprising new discoveries, he struggles between his head and his heart over what to do about the future. I’ve loved Carlos since he first appeared in the series and was very happy to finally get a chance to read his book. He’s a wonderful hero who has a strong sense of honor and duty. I admire him for taking on the role of fatherhood to five orphans. Like most of the heroes in this series, he’s protective and possessive toward Caitlyn without being an alpha jerk. In fact, he has a sweet side that I really enjoyed.

Caitlyn hasn’t seen or heard from Shanna since she left home years ago. Caitlyn is excited by the prospect of finally reconnecting with the older sister she adored, so she eagerly accepts the birthday party invitation, only to discover that creatures she thought existed just in myths are in fact real. After getting over her initial shock, Caitlyn must decide between two job offers, one working for her dad on his CIA Stake-Out team, and the other working for MacKay S & I. After seeing how much her dad hates vampires and worrying that he may someday try to harm his own half-vampire grandchildren, her decision isn’t a difficult one. Not to mention, she’ll get the extra perk of working with the hot panther shifter who just gave her the most memorable kiss of her life. After Carlos keeps rejecting her, though, Caitlyn’s old insecurity about not being good enough rears its ugly head, but after meeting his kids and realizing how important his mission is, she can’t let him go it alone. She possesses a psychic power for being able to instantly understand any language and learn to speak it within hours, so she believes that her gift, along with her State Department connections, could be valuable assets to him. Although initially reluctant, Carlos gradually starts to open up to her, and together, they share the adventure of a lifetime that only solidifies the love that’s been building since the moment they met. Caitlyn may be a powerful psychic, but physically she’s a bit of a marshmallow, making their training scenes pretty humorous. Her misaimed shots and knife throws were a hoot. In spite of her lack of physicality and fighting skills, she proves herself an adventurous soul who’s brave in the face of danger. She’s also sweet with a good heart, great with kids, and has a very loving and forgiving side toward Carlos.

Like all the other books in the series, Eat Prey Love is chock full of supporting characters, many of whom have their own books. As always, Roman and Shanna (How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire) are the cornerstone couple and I adore their kids, Constantine and Sophia. Angus and Emma (Be Still My Vampire Heart) head up MacKay S & I and take good care of their employees. Ian and Toni (All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire) put in a couple of appearances. Robby (The Vampire and the Virgin) helps out a few times. Connor, who’ll become the hero of the next book, Vampire Mine, is still acting as Roman and Shanna’s main bodyguard. Gregori (Sexiest Vampire Alive) takes Caitlyn on a date in an attempt to make Carlos jealous. Phineas (Wanted: Undead or Alive) holds down the fort at Romatech and gets a job promotion. Howard (Wild About You), another of the shifter guards, escorts Caitlyn into the birthday party. Zoltan (How to Seduce a Vampire (Without Really Trying)), the head of the European coven, comes with a few others to aid Carlos and Caitlyn when they make a surprising discovery in the jungle. And last but not least, we’re introduced to Russell (Crouching Tiger, Forbidden Vampire), a new vampire who I can’t say much about without giving away spoilers, but suffice it to say that he’s part of the jungle discovery. I think most of the other heroes and heroines of the series also put in appearances, but they didn’t have much if any lines. Still, just seeing them all was a nice little treat for a long-time fan like myself.

Overall, Eat Prey Love was another great addition to the series. I loved Carlos and Caitlyn together and thought they complimented each other well. Carlos is a yummy hero with just the right balance of alpha possessiveness and beta sweetness. Caitlyn is a sweetheart, and I particularly enjoyed her psychic ability, which is one I’d love to have. Their relationship is pretty much an insta-love one, which I wasn’t too sure about at first, but as the story progressed, I was more on board with it and thought they proved their love several times. The sexual tension is high throughout with a few steamy good times to sweeten the deal. Their adventure in the Thai jungle was full of danger but a nice touch of humor as well. I have a feeling their discoveries will lead to more interesting story developments down the line, as well as providing a new foe for our intrepid heroes to fight. All in all, I had a really great time reading Eat Prey Love and very much look forward to seeing what comes next. I highly recommend the book and the entire series to fans of paranormal romance with a lighter side.

Caitlyn hasn’t seen her sister in years and her father is against her seeing her, but when she is invited to her sister Shanna’s child’s birthday she has the need to go, to see her sister again. When she arrives to see her sister, she witnesses Constantine, her sisters son “fly” and when her sister offers Caitlyn a job with the security company owned by a friend of Shanna, Caitlyn is interested as her psychic ability with languages would be a valuable asset to the company but first Shanna must tell her the truth about the people Caitlyn has met and will be working with. When Shanna has revealed the existence of vampires Caitlyn is a tad overwhelmed and she is told about what her father really does for a living and the threat he poses to Shanna’s children, husband and friends, not to mention the lies he has told comes to light through out the book. While at the party Caitlyn finds herself attracted to man, Carlos who also desires her but her sister warns her to stay away from him because of what he is;

““You have to understand, we shouldn’t anger Dad more than necessary. He’s going to be pissed if you take the job with Emma. He’s already furious that I’m married to a vampire. If he finds out that you’re involved with a shape shifter-“
“I know,” Caitlyn muttered. “He’ll have kittens.”
Shanna snorted, “No, Cait. You would have kittens. Carlos is a were-panther.””

When Caitlyn returns back home her father tried to recruit her into his business, killing vampires but she refuses to go along with it, she doesn’t want to be a part of the hate so she returns to Romatech Industries to see her sister and accept the security job. The more Carlos and Caitlyn find themselves in situations together, the more the heat grows between them, but nothing can come of it, due to were-panthers being rare Carlos needs to find a were-panther mate to save his species, he has no choice. But Caitlyn refuses to give up on Carlos, and it’s a good thing that she doesn’t. There are some great steamy scenes in this book and lots of action and emotion, I had been putting off reading this and I regret doing so, this book took turns I truly wasn't expecting. I really loved the ending, it was perfect and satisfying. I would give this more of a four and a half stars, at some points I found myself skipping a little so it lost a half star for that but other than that it couldn't have been any better. Kerrelyn Sparks knows how to write paranormal romance just right.

I enjoyed Eat Prey Love. The main character, Caitlyn Whelen has just arrived back into the U.S. after being fired from the U.S Government for interfering with a human's rights issue in a foreign country. This humiliation does not sit well with Caitlyn's father who is the head of a CIA agency hellbent on trying to wipe out vampires from the face of the earth. After checking into a hotel, Caitlyn receives a birthday party invitation from her older sister, Shanna whom she has not had contact with in six years. It seems Shanna is married and has two children. The birthday party is for Shanna's 4 year old son. Caitlyn's reunion with her sister is emotional and also includes the revelation of some hidden secrets. Shanna is married to a vampire and her children are a vampire/human mix. Caitlyn is stunned on so many levels since until now she does not even believe these creatures exists. Caitlyn is a psychic linguist who can learn any language within one hour. The security firm owned by the vampire Emma offers Caitlyn at job. At first she is hesistant but reconsiders when she meets two orphan shapeshifting girls who were rescued from being slaughtered. Their rescuer, Carlos is tall, dark and irresistable. However, resist he must because Caitlyn is not a shapeshifter and if his species is to survive extinction, he must find a were mate. The storyline takes on many mysterious twists and turns all while cultivating a budding romance between Caitlyn and Carlos. It was truly entertaining. If I had any complaint it would be that the author rushes the reader to believe that Carlos and Caitlyn are in love right away. Also, the ending left too many details hanging. I realize that this is a series and hope that the next book resolves some of the issues that were left unresolved.

Aku agak shock Dastan menerbitkan buku ini. Kenapa?

My Rating :
Star : 4/5
Bikini : 2/5

No. I am so disappointed by this book. Carlos has always been one of my favorite side characters and I have been looking forward to his book ever since we first met him and I hated it. I HATED Caitlyn. She could not have been any more desperate. I have no idea why any woman would ever throw themselves at someone the way she did. It was embarrassing and she just kept doing it.

And her freakin daddy issues. Yeah so your dad was/is an asshole. BFD. And you find out your sister didn't actually run away like you thought. Instead of freaking out maybe just enjoy getting to know her? I dunno. That's what I would do. Its not like you can change the past. And it's not like you are actually going to do anything to your father so STFU.

The dialogue seemed forced. And a lot of it was awkward and incredibly cheesy. I understand that a lot of the lines were suppose to be "sexy" but good god they weren't.
There's really nothing more to say. I did not enjoy anything about the book. I wanted so badly to stop listening to it. I am really hoping the the next one won't be so awkward.

Also whoever hired the narrator for the audiobook did a terrible job. She talked like you would to a child. It's part of the reason I hated the book so much. Who wants to listen to love scenes with a whiney voice? NO ONE.

Well, smack me, and call me surprised!

Damn.. I had absolutly no high hopes for this book.. Well, yes, Carlos had been pretty funny in the previous books, but a whole book just about him? Hmm.. Yeah, that had me a bit concerned..

(And here is where the 'smacking me' comes in)

How surprised do you think I was, when this actually turned out to be my favorite book so far? (I'm SO sorry Ian, I still love you though *kisses*)

The chemistry between Carlos and Caitlyn was smoking hot from the beginning, and I was hooked from the first page.. I actually had teary eyes on page 22 (!!) On page 22, for Gods sake!!! Thats just crazy..

I adored Caitlyn.. From the first time we met her, I knew she was my kind of girl, and Carlos didnt really have a chance, did he now? ;o)

Carlos.. Yeah, my most yummi vamp (in this series) is hands down, still Ian.. But I dont know, there is just something ultra sexy about Carlos. And who doesnt love a ultra sexy were-panther these days?

Great book!!

I have not read all of the books in the Love at Stakes series. Which is fine as each one can really be read as stand alone novels. Although, I have to say that this book is probably one of my favorites. Instantly I fell for Caitlyn and Carlos. The best part was that Carlos is not a vampire but a were-panter. For a change in a vampire series, it was nice to have a different character type like Carlos. Plus, in a way it made more sense and it was more believable that Caitlyn would fall for Carlos. Caitlyn was just getting over her shock that her sister married a vampire and she was not so warm to the idea, so for her to have a love interest in a vampire would have been too predicable. The raw animal attraction was evident between Caitlyn and Carlos. Besides the storyline was a good one. Liked the ending.

Lovely story

I liked this one, because it's a mate for Carlos, funny storyline had to laugh lot's of time, hilarious lol
She gulped. Was he thinking about biting her? He had lost a little blood. “If you’re hungry, there are some bottles in the cafeteria.” He tilted his head. “I like real food.” Did he mean fresh blood? “I thought you were resisting temptation.” He stepped toward her. “You’re making it very hard for me.” She eased back. “Look, I know you’re really gorgeous and all that, but I’m not going to let you bite me.” He halted with a jerk. Anger flashed in his eyes. “I would never bite you. There is nothing on earth that could make me bite you.”“What?” Suddenly, she felt strangely insulted. “Are you saying my blood isn’t good enough for you?”

I love that the storyline developed for all characters, flawless. Mrs Sparks let it spark lol

This was my first book in the series, and I really enjoyed it. It was light, the two characters had some serious chemistry, and I respected both of them, him for his devotion to the children, and her for her open mindedness and strength. She didn't just jump into any scary or dangerous situation, but she didn't shy away either. She also wouldn't stand for any of his "mate" nonsense; she thought he was hot, and he clearly thought she was gorgeous since his eyes glowed each time he looked at her. The story line stood alone, but it also fit nicely (I could tell) into a larger plot that continues between the novels in the series. Reading it, I didn't feel like I was missing anything though. I definitely want to go back and read this series at some point.
