If you are an author supporter, reviewer, or blogger (or if you are looking for such a person), please leave a post here. This thread is topic specific, so all other posts that are off the subject will be removed. (Please remember, this is to support authors. So blogs must somehow relate to authors if the links are posted here.)

I'll throw my hat in the ring for this one and say I can always appreciate help with my book, Dreams Reign Supreme.

Thanks!

Blue (bookishblueuk) | 12 comments Hi Guys!

I have a blog and I am always happy to help authors in anyway I can! Being an aspiring author myself and a writer in-the-meantime, I understand what work goes into books and love being able to help others acheive the goal/dream I haven't quite reached yet!

That being said, I run a blog: A Daydreamer's Thoughts
and am always happy to do reviews.

Unfortunately, at the moment I've got my hands quite full, so to speak, but I am always happy to do interviews or have authors do guest posts (on a topic of my choosing, or theirs, or on their book(s)) at any point!

If this sounds good to you, feel free to message me here on GR or fire me an e-mail (address is in the "contact me" page on my blog above!)

Faye (:

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 217 comments I have a book called Shades of Grey that I am happy for people to review and even do a giveaway if they wish. I can provide a Smashwords coupon to any interested reviewers.

It is a collection of three short stories.

Shades of Grey by Michael Cargill

John is not a very nice man. He works for the government. So who has tied him to a chair and what do they want?

James is a British soldier during WWII. Tom is a young boy with a terrible secret.

Three stories. Three very different people. All of them battling to survive.

Dino I'd like to throw my recently finished novel into this thread, The Pearl and the Panoply:

The Pearl and the Panoply by Dino A. Navarroli

It is an historical fiction novel and can be found on Amazon and I would appreciate any input and reviews that people could give. Every little bit helps me greatly.

message 16: by Dino (new)

Dino It takes place over several eras following many different people and their stories. From the Roman Republic, to Viking England, Medieval Poland during the Crusades, Novgorod before Prince Ivan launches his invasion, to Austria during the Ottoman advancement, and France during the Franco-Prussian War.

I think you'll like it, as I've added some newly discovered information into the more ancient stories that gives a more accurate view of history.

message 17: by Dino (new)

Dino Unfortunately no, whatever format is applied to Kindle books is whatever it is.

message 18: by Dino (new)

Dino I understand completely as I'm the same way. It's unfortunate for us self-publishers that electronically is the easiest way to distribute our works because I feel the fatigue from reading on a backlit screen is a huge detriment to getting our works across.

Aaron Thibeault (thebookreporter) | 81 comments Hello. Every second week I read a brand new popular non-fiction book at the intersection of science and the humanities and write an article wherein I summarize the main argument of the book and offer up some of the juicier details and anecdotes to be found therein (at newbooksinbrief.wordpress.com). Some of the books I've covered recently include 'The Social Conquest of Earth' by E.O. Wilson; 'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg; and 'Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think' by Peter Diamandis. Feel free to drop by the site to check out my work (again, newbooksinbrief.wordpress.com)

Isham Cook (ishamcook) | 2 comments My name is Isham Cook, and I'm a writer of essays and fiction. I'd like to introduce my blogsite: ishamcook.com. It's a literary website with distinctive and provocative essays mainly about China (and therefore about the future), where I've been based for many years, but also on various topics dealing with culture, literature, music, sex, etc. My latest essay posts include:
- A satirical piece on why all sex should be paid for.
- The real reason Shakespeare's audience was susceptible to a belief in ghosts (and it's not the supernatural).
- The problem with the Chinese pianist Lang Lang and others like him.
- What Japanese theater and nude mix-bathing hot springs have in common.
- Why Starbucks is a perfect venue for observing the huge cultural differences between China and Japan.
- How China keeps all of its workers (including white-collar workers and professionals) in line.
At present I don't host other blog writers' contributions on my site, but I do enthusiastically link other's sites to mine (scroll down the right margin of my site to see links to my artist, photographer and writer friends). If you like my site and feel yours overlaps in interest and quality, please give me your own website address and I'll take a look.

Nic | 173 comments Hello community of Goodreads, I've recently decided to create a blog where i'd review the books i've read in the recent years. Original idea huh? I know! xD Anyways my fans arn't very existent therefore I was hoping for anyone to come and take a quick peak at my blog http://www.bookmark-reviews.blogspot.ca/
I've only done 1 review so far and wil take the time to expand and grow. In the meanwhile comment what ou liked and did not like and if you have any fantasy/young adult stories taht you'd like someone to review, I'll glady do so and post it on my site. Anyways i'll stop rambling, thanks for reading this if you did.

message 45: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 217 comments Hi Nic

Nice blog you have there for the most part. My main suggestion would be to choose a different colour scheme;

Having white text on a black background is quite hard on the eyes - if you look at most magazines, books and websites they have black text on a white/cream background.

Good luck with your blog.

message 46: by Nic (new)

message 47: by Nic (new)

Nic | 173 comments I appreciate that you took time to view my blog and construct a helpfull view on what to improve, I've never realized that white on black can be hard to read, but yet again i'm not the one that actually reads the article but posts them. I'll change the colour scheme, Thanks again :)

Patches Of Grey

message 49: by Reno (new)

Reno Charlton (renoc) | 13 comments Hi Nic

I think you are along the right lines with the website but I found that the colours in the background caused a bit of strain on the eyes, which then makes it more difficult to read the text in the black boxes. I think going for something more simple in terms of background would make it look far more elegant and more importantly easier on the eye.

With regards to your offer to read fantasy, I have several children's fantasy novels that I would love for you to review and post if the offer still stands :-) If you could email me on phil.cyberia@blueyonder.co.uk I can arrange to send you some copies via Kindle or PDFs.

Cheers

Reno
