Business Alliance in Iran-The Function and Organization of the Chamber of Commerce
Outline
Iranian private sector companies, regardless of capital size, tend to avoid vertical and horizontal integration and not form strong business relationships with each other. Historically, the formation of so-called ‘business alliance (cartels)’ and the competition-restrictive joint actions of companies have not been observed as well. In order to explore the background, this research project focuses on the ‘Chamber of Commerce’, the first modern trade organization in Iran, to analyze the history of its establishment and its original role. Moreover, we will analyze the function of the present ‘Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture’ which is the successor organization of CC, and clarify the characteristics of inter-company relations in Iran.
