It all begins as a marvelous fairy tale. In the icy steppe, a bear and her cub discover a plane that has been there for some undetermined time. All is calm. But this glacial tranquility will soon be disrupted by a train.

The relationship with the real is the subject of our film. Constructed in reverse chronological order as a puzzle, it explores how China became what it is through the work of the four best known Chinese filmmakers, Wang Bing, Jia Zhangke, Wang Xiaoshuai and Zhang Yuan who have achieved something their predecessors never dared: to show the present and past truths of their country in a cinematographic style which is uniquely theirs.

Jerome leaves his home to seek a job in the city. He finds a job at the town hall and works with Lucien. First they are responsible for the decorations of the city for Christmas. But their next mission will prove very different.
