- AnecdotesOn March 18, 2016, it was reported that actor Dylan O'Brien was injured on set and was hospitalized. He suffered serious injuries when he was dragged under the vehicle to which he was strapped, while filming the opening train chase sequence on 17 March. His injuries included concussion, fractured cheekbones and orbital socket as well as lacerations. James Dashner announced via Twitter that the production was postponed after the accident. However, on April 29, 2016, when his recovery took longer than expected, production was shut down indefinitely. On May 27, 2016, 20th Century Fox rescheduled the film for January 12, 2018, allowing time for Dylan O'Brien to fully recover from his injuries sustained on-set. Production resumed almost a year later, in February 2017.
- GaffesThe Gladers made an obvious tactical error for no reason. In the opening scene, during the assault on the train, the Gladers manage to hijack a Berg, separate the back half of the train, and take out five of the eight members of the train's security force without any Glader being hit. At this point, with superior numbers AND the Berg's additional air support, they decide to flee the three remaining security people by precariously airlifting a train car full of prisoners with five Gladers clinging to its roof. With superior numbers and air support, they could have easily overwhelmed the remaining three, collected any valuable equipment and weaponry, then continued on their merry way.

Newt: [Thomas reading Newt's letter] Dear Thomas, this is the first letter I could remember writing. Obviously, I don't know if I wrote any before the Maze. But even if it's not my first, it's likely to be my last. I want you to know that I'm not scared. Well, not of dying, anyway. It's more forgetting. It's losing myself to this virus, that's what scares me. So every night, I've been saying their names out loud. Alby. Winston. Chuck. And I just repeat them over and over like a prayer, and it - And it all comes flooding back. Just the little things like where the sun used to hit the Glade at that perfect moment right before it slipped beneath the walls. And I remember the taste of Frypan's stew. I never thought I'd miss that stuff so much. And I remember you. From the first time you came up in the box, just a scared little Greenie who couldn't even remember his own name. But from that moment you ran into the Maze, I knew I would follow you anywhere. And I have. We all have. If I could do it all over again, I would. And I wouldn't change a thing. My hope for you: when you're looking back years from now, you'll be able to say the same. The future is in your hands now, Tommy. I know you'll find a way to do what's right. You always have. Take care of everyone for me. And take care of yourself. You deserve to be happy. Thank you for being my friend. Goodbye, mate. Newt.

Imagine two hours and twenty minutes that could have been compressed into a five minute How It Should Have Ended animation (which would have been better). Kids are good, WICKED is bad (duh!), bullets kind of care about that because they fly away from the good guys and things just happen to be where you need them to be for them to escape and not kill anyone, not even the bad guys, because they are the good guys. A lot of talk, a lot of talk, then some talk, followed by more talk. The last part of the movie has all the action sequences and they are all Michael Bayish.
Bottom line: I don't think they even tried to make it a good movie. It was all algorithmic. Why end a series that at least started interesting with a twist, or some nice action, or anything resembling a story? No. Take any other YA movie and copy paste it over these characters. It's like creativity costs money for these people. It's like it hurts them, like the sun kills bugs. It was so boring that it wasn't even funny.
