Having just watched the 2021 comedy "Supercool" from writers Olli Haikka and Ali Moussavi, I must say that I was somewhat expecting a tad more than what director Teppo Airaksinen actually managed to deliver here.
Sure, "Supercool" was a watchable movie, but at the same time it was also a very generic movie of its kind. And it falls into the kind of comedy that once you've seen one of those kinds, then you've essentially seen them all. And on that account then "Supercool" failed to be outstanding.
The storyline told in "Supercool" was watchable, but the movie was seriously lacking funny moments. I think I only laughed a single time throughout the course of the entire movie, and that was during the gunshot scene after having crashed the car.
It was perhaps the somewhat forced and rigid dialogue that didn't really work out as intended throughout the course of the movie. The jokes were flat and fell short.
I wasn't familiar with lead actor Jake Short, but he certainly was well-cast for a movie such as "Supercool". But it was actor Damon Wayans Jr. And actress Iliza Shlesinger that added the most memorable material to the movie.
Once the movie ended, I was left with a sense of 'was that really it?', because the movie didn't really deliver a whole lot of great entertainment. And this is certainly not a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time.
My rating of "Supercool" lands on a very generic and bland five out of ten stars.
