Recensione in evidenza
Watched this at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
This was my least favorite movie from the entire festival cause this movie was self-indulgent, unfunny, and messy. Little Death explores two stories that are tied together but the poor direction, HIGHLY unlikeable characters, poor performances and annoying writing creates an infuriating experience throughout watching this movie.
Director Jack Begert seems to struggle on how to balance out the narrative and concepts together as the structure feels unfocused and many of the writing, dialogue and themes explored were pointless, unfunny and kind of full of itself. Many of the performances are honestly pretty bad. I like many of the cast members like David Schwimmer, Gaby Hoffmann and Talia Ryder. But unfortunately, their performances were messy and their characters are really unlikeable and aggravating in the worst way. Each character comes close to wanting to pull your hair out of your head levels.
Begert approach on the humor is poor, the editing and musical choices are annoying, and the dialogue is forced, unfunny, and poorly constructed. There are some really awful visual presentations and animations throughout. To top it off, the animations were AI-generated which honestly is a major slap on the face for independent filmmakers and artists. It's insulting that Sundance allowed this movie to come into the festival.
This entire movie really takes everything bad about movies and crammed together in one project. Absolutely one of the worst movies I had seen.
