- StarsGary OldmanJack LowdenKristin Scott ThomasFollows a team of British intelligence agents who serve as a dumping ground department of MI5 due to their career-ending mistakes.Season 3 of “Slow Horses” picked up its first Emmy nominations this year, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor for Gary Oldman. That kind of publicity should attract new fans to the Apple TV+ series, adapted from Mick Herron’s book series about a ragtag group of MI5 rejects. Herron’s 2017 novel “Spook Street” forms the basis for Season 4’s plot, and the Slow Horses will have their work cut out for them as they face a rising terrorist threat while attempting to juggle their own personal struggles.
Season 4 now streaming on Apple TV+ - CreatorTaylor SheridanStarsSylvester StalloneAndrea SavageMartin StarrFollowing his release from prison, Mafia capo Dwight "The General" Manfredi is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he builds a new criminal empire with a group of unlikely characters. We may be in for a bit of a wait for the return of “Tulsa King,” the cowboy gangster crime drama from TV sweetheart Taylor Sheridan. Even before the WGA strike put productions on hold, the Sylvester Stallone vehicle was facing delays due to showrunner Terence Winter stepping down in February 2023. Can Dwight get out of his cliffhanger arrest at the end of Season 1? We have our fingers crossed we get to find out sometime before the end of the year.
Season 2 premieres on Paramount+ Sept.15 - CreatorJac SchaefferStarsKathryn HahnJoe LockeSasheer ZamataA spell-bound Agatha Harkness regains freedom thanks to a teen's help. Intrigued by his plea, she embarks on the Witches' Road trials to reclaim her powers and discover the teen's motivations. Will the Scarlett Witch return to the MCU? Or some version of her, we should ask? That is the question mark hovering over this spin-off series that catches us up with Agatha Harkness, the witch who was trapped in the Hex for meddling with Wanda Maximoff’s memories at the end of “WandaVision.” The key to the mystery is the true identity of “Heartstopper” star Joe Locke’s character, the “suspicious goth teen” who sets Agatha free from her spell. Without getting into all the potential MCU connections, if this sus teen character is not directly related to Wanda Maximoff or connected to the Russo Bros’ upcoming Avengers sequels, we might all wish Agatha remained trapped in the Hex.

Colin Farrell returns to the role with his layers of make-up and prosthetics, and he'll be challenged by Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Cobblepot's deceased former boss, Carmine Falcone. Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs, “Fargo”) plays Falcone in the next chapter of the DC Elseworlds universe, the franchise that lives independently from the universe James Gunn is building.

The eight-episode show tells the story of a mortal king, his warrior bride, and their mission for vengeance against the cruelty of the gods. Snyder is credited as both creator and executive producer on the project, which boasts animation production from The Stone Quarry and Xilam Animation and a score by legendary composer Hans Zimmer. But the impressive creative team doesn’t end there. “Twilight of the Gods” features an all-star voice cast that includes Stuart Martin, Jamie Chung, Jessica Henwick, Pilou Asbæk, Jamie Clayton, Peter Stormare, Rahul Kohli, and Corey Stoll, among others.

In creator Ryan Murphy’s latest offering, a world-weary detective (Niecy Nash) and an intrepid nun/reporter (Micaela Diamond) find themselves ensnared in a sinister web of clues and suspects as they attempt to track down a serial killer with a grotesque M.O. All of Murphy and company’s signature stylings look to be on display here, from vibrant lighting and dingy design to disturbing imagery that pushes the envelope of on-air decorum. Keep an eye out for Travis Kelce, who is credited as appearing in all 10 episodes of the limited series, although the details of his involvement have been kept under wraps.

- CreatorAlice OsemanStarsJoe LockeKit ConnorWilliam GaoCharlie, a high-strung, openly gay overthinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, one day are made to sit together in class. Their friendship becomes something more for Charlie, but he does not believe he has a chance.Charlie and Nick’s relationship will (finally) steam up your chosen screen as “Heartstopper” returns for Season 3. The couple, whose romance has been rather G-rated until now, will head to Paris on a life-changing school trip with their mates from Truham and Higgs. “The show is growing up,” says Joe Locke, who has quicky become a generational icon alongside his co-star, Kit Connor. Whether Charlie and Nick will actually say “I Love You” this season is uncertain, but they better get to it, since creator Alice Oseman has said the series won’t run any longer than four seasons. There will be plenty of room in Season 3 to see what develops between Tao and Elle, as well as another fan-favorite couple, Tara and Darcy. Don’t be surprised if a fourth-and-final season announcement drops this fall.
Season 3 premieres on Netflix Oct. 3 - CreatorTodd HelbingGreg BerlantiStarsTyler HoechlinElizabeth TullochAlex GarfinThe world's most famous superhero and comic books' most famous journalist face the pressures and complexities that come with balancing work, justice, and parenthood in today's society. It’s the end of an era at the CW this fall as the last remaining DC series takes off on its final flight. The television network has been producing shows adapted from DC comics since “Smallville” first premiered in 2001. But times change, and as the DCEU prepares to head off in a new direction under James Gunn, it appears Warner Bros. is ready to tie up the remaining loose ends. Despite widely reported budget cuts, main cast members Tyler Hoechlin, Bitsie Tulloch, Alex Garfin, Michael Bishop, and Michael Cudlitz will all return for the 10-episode swan song, which sees the Kent family dealing with the untimely death of Superman.
Season 4 premieres on the CW Oct.7 - CreatorQuinta BrunsonStarsQuinta BrunsonTyler James WilliamsJanelle JamesA workplace comedy centered around a group of dedicated teachers - and an oblivious principal - in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life.Audiences can’t get enough of “Abbott Elementary.” The mockumentary series about dedicated, if somewhat quirky, public school teachers has been receiving high marks from audiences and critics alike since the show premiered in 2021. Season 3, which aired earlier this year, changed things up a bit when it concluded with just 14 episodes due to the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes. But never fear, “Abbott” fans! The new season will be a return to form with a full 22 episodes, all of the main cast returning, and hopefully more than a few star-studded cameos.
Season 4 premieres on ABC Oct. 9 - CreatorDick WolfStarsMariska HargitayChristopher MeloniIce-TFollows the New York City Police Department's (NYPD) Special Victims Unit (SVU), a specially trained squad of detectives who investigates sex crimes including rape, child sexual abuse, human trafficking and domestic violence.Season 26 premieres on NBC Oct.10
- CreatorIan McCullochStarsYvonne StrahovskiScott SpeedmanRob MorganTrapped on a farm in rural Georgia, a group of neighbors must put aside their differences and unite in the face of a mysterious and deadly threat. We have high hopes Peacock’s new horror show, which comes to us from series creator Ian McCulloch (“Yellowstone”) and executive producer James Wan (Saw, Aquaman). Based on Robert McCammon’s bestselling novel “Stinger,” the eight-episode series follows a group of neighbors who are forced to work together to survive a mysterious (possibly gas-masked) threat. If that plot sounds vague, it’s likely by design. During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, McCulloch wouldn’t even reveal the meaning of the show’s title, saying instead that things would become clear to viewers within a few episodes. Yvonne Strahovski (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Dexter”) and Scott Speedman (The Strangers, “You”) bring their genre bonafides to this ensemble series, which will drop two 30-minute episodes weekly through Halloween.
Series premieres on Peacock Oct.10 - StarsHayley AtwellRichard ArmitageAllen MaldonadoFollows heroine Lara Croft as she explores new territory. This isn’t the live-action series being plotted by Phoebe Waller-Bridge at Prime Video, or a sequel to the 2018 reboot that starred Alicia Vikander. Instead, this animated series from writer Tasha Huo flows directly out of the 2010s video game series (“The Survivor Trilogy”) that introduced a young Lara Croft and retconned events in her early life that shaped her character. Huo, who also wrote the screenplay for the highly anticipated live-action Naruto movie, wants us to see how Lara built the relationships that serve as her global network on her adventures. She made hardcore fans happy by casting MCU vet Hayley Atwell as Lara’s voice and by helping the character Zip, a tech expert who has had Lara’s back over the years, jump formats from the video games to the series.
Series premieres on Netflix Oct.10 - CreatorBen H. WintersStarsJustin HartleyAbby McEnanyEric GraiseColter Shaw travels the country in his old-school RV, helping police and private citizens solve crimes and locate missing persons--until his latest case changes everything.Work might get a little more personal for crime-solver and missing-person pro Colter Shaw when “Tracker” returns for Season 2. As the record-breaking first season wrapped up, Shaw found his friend Lizzy’s daughter and reconciled with his brother (Jensen Ackles will return for more guest star appearances). But what’s up with that box of his father’s things that seems to implicate all of his siblings in their dad’s death? It’s the kind of family drama we try to escape from in real life, but we’re hooked into the show, which became the first series on old-fashioned TV to become the #1 show since “Survivor” debuted in 2000, according to Nielsen. Justin Hartley has been an underrated TV star just as long; he’s made the small-screen better since he first appeared on the soap “Passions” in the early 2000s.

- StarsDavid TennantAidan TurnerKatherine ParkinsonFollows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham as they have a longstanding rivalry that comes to a head. All's fair in love and war this fall when Disney unveils its adaptation of novelist Jilly Cooper’s 1988 romantic dramedy. The series follows along as two titans of the English countryside butt heads in an increasingly tense conflict that threatens to boil over into their community. As an author Ms. Cooper was once dubbed “Queen of the Bonkbuster,” and we’re fairly certain the TV show will match the book’s outrageously steamy scenarios. David Tennant and Aidan Turner head up the cast as the titular rivals with stellar support from Claire Rushbrook, Lisa McGrillis, and Luke Pasqualino, among others.
Series premieres on Disney+ Oct.18 - CreatorJemaine ClementStarsKayvan NovakMatt BerryNatasia DemetriouA look into the nightly lives of four vampires who have lived together on Staten Island for over a century.Life on Staten Island won’t be quite the same as vampire roommates Nandor, Nadja, Laszlo, and Colin Robinson sign off after six increasingly addictive seasons, but can’t we hold out hope for some sort of revival series when we’re dealing with immortals? In the final episodes, the household will refocus attention on their original mission to become conquerors of the new world, a plot that is reintroduced when their long-forgotten fifth roommate finally wakes up and rejoins the non-living. The show has always been gracious with its guest stars, and we’re looking forward to what comedian Mike O’Brien (you might recognize him from "SNL" or as the pizza guy from Booksmart) gets up to as their long-slumbering roomie returns (though technically we've never met him yet).
Season 6 premieres on Hulu Oct. 21 - StarsRyoma TakeuchiKento KakuMunetaka AokiIntense characters like Kazuma Kiryu navigate modern Japan's underbelly. The dramatic series explores their lives and criminal underworld ties. There are plenty of stories to explore in Prime Video’s newest video game adaptation “Like a Dragon: Yakuza.” Sega’s bestselling franchise includes eight games and an additional eight spin-off titles, not to mention several print publications, a feature film, and even a stage play. But series directors Masaharu Take and Kengo Takimoto have decided to start at the beginning with a six-episode inaugural season that adapts the franchise’s original 2005 release, “Yakuza,” and its 2016 remake “Yakuza Kiwami.”
Series premieres on Prime Video Oct. 24 - CreatorDebora CahnStarsGéraldine ChevalleyRufus SewellDavid GyasiIn the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands in a high-profile job for which she is not suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and her political future. We’re excited for the return of Kerri Russell as U.S. Ambassador Kate Wyler, but is it OK to turn a spotlight on Allison Janney for a sec? The Emmy and Oscar winner returns to the West Wing for a wicked turn as the new VP who is certain Wyler is gunning for her job. It's only the tip of this particular political iceberg since we already know Kate’s husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) survived the explosive Season 1 finale – and he might just be involved in the conspiracy that goes all the way up to the tippy-top of the British government. As this conspiracy unfurls, take any comfort you can knowing Season 3 has already been shot and it’s likely set for a 2025 premiere.
Season 2 premieres on Netflix Oct. 31 - StarsCharlie CoxColman DomingoHugh DancyThe animated series follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, with a journey unlike we've ever seen and a style that celebrates the character's early comic book roots. It’s the voice cast that has us most excited for this newest re-telling of Peter Parker’s origins as Spider-Man. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’onofrio will reprise their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin from elsewhere in the MCU, but it’s Coleman Domingo as Norman Osborn that has us most intrigued. The series, which is considered part of the larger cinematic universe, is set in an alternate timeline where Osborn takes on the role of Peter’s mentor rather than Tony Stark. Will the brilliant scientist still take up the mantle of the Green Goblin? Or will Peter Parker’s wholesome nature show Norman there’s another way?
Series premieres on Disney+ Nov. 2
