Selma Blair would have considered making a cameo on Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming “Cruel Intentions” TV series — but was never asked.
“I knew it was coming but I can’t believe I haven’t seen the trailer,” she told Variety on Thursday’s Power of Women event, hours after the trailer for the TV adaptation came out. “Maybe there will be a cameo or something but no, I haven’t been asked anything. I’m excited to see it.”
Blair portrayed the innocent Cecile Caldwell in the 1999 film, which is based on the classic novel “Dangerous Liaisons.” In the movie, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon, Cecile fell for her cello instructor, Sean Patrick Thomas’ Ronald Clifford.
Thomas will appear in the upcoming Amazon series as Professor Hank Chadwick.

Cruel Intentions is getting a new take on Prime Video, but has anyone really been asking for this?
It's been a big trend in television in the last decade to do TV versions of old films. Some can work like Prime Video's reworking of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Others can falter such as Paramount TV's disastrous take on Heathers. Now, we can add Cruel Intentions to the list.
The 1999 film was a loose modernization of the classic novel Dangerous Liaisons. Wealthy Sebastian (Ryan Phillipe) relishes in seducing women and wants a challenge. His step-sister Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar) makes a unique wager on Sebastian seducing their virginal classmate Annette (Reese Witherspoon). Thus begins a twisted romance and dark games of control.

The small screen adaptation of 1999 teen drama Cruel Intentions will stream on Prime Video next month. Here’s the trailer.
Cruel Intentions, written and directed by Roger Kumble, is a seminal teen film of the 1990s, planting the plot of Dangerous Liasons firmly in late twentieth century American youth culture. It boasted star making turns from Selma Blair, Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon. It’s also the film that helped launch the big screen career of Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Now, Cruel Intentions is heading to the small screen in a fresh modern take courtesy of Amazon Prime Video. Many versions of a television adaptation have been attempted in the past, including a 2016 pilot which saw Gellar reprise her role, but ultimately none of them gained any traction. “Cruel Intentions” is headed to the cutthroat world of collegiate Greek life in Prime Video’s new reboot series.
The trailer for the new show, which debuts Nov. 21, introduces a new crop of upper class elites, with Sarah Catherine Hook taking the baton from Sarah Michelle Gellar as Caroline (changed from Kathryn) Merteuil, while Zac Burgess takes on a new version of Ryan Phillippe’s Sebastian as Lucien Belmont.
Like the 1999 movie, Caroline and Lucien are step-siblings with a salacious desire for one another, with Caroline leading her close-to-perfect sorority and Lucien being known as a campus-wide womanizer.
This semester, however, Caroline admits the sorority is “a little bit on the line this year because of the whole unfortunate hazing injury,” as the trailer flashes back to a formal event where a pledge’s head was hit hard by an unknown object.

After 25 years, several direct-to-video sequels and a failed pilot, a new generation is getting the Cruel Intentions treatment.
On Thursday, Prime Video debuted the first trailer for its series adaptation of the 1999 teen movie, all eight episodes premiering Nov. 21 on the streamer, bringing a familiar tale of deception to a new locale with all new characters.
The trailer has some nostalgic callbacks to the hit 1999 movie, including an upbeat cover of The Verve’s ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, a familiar black convertible and an even more familiar rosary necklace with an unholy hidden secret.
Also consistent with the original, the series features a very indecent wager between affluent stepsiblings Caroline Merteuil (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien Valmont (Zac Burgess), who rule the Greek system at Manchester College, their Washington DC-adjacent university.
But when a hazing incident puts their charter in jeopardy, Caroline enlists Lucien’s help to get the US vice...

Sarah Michelle Gellar has now confirmed where her ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ character will be, and well, let’s just say it’s where we left her in the original 1997 horror movie.
Sarah Michelle Gellar – On How She Continues To Be A Part of ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’
No, ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ is not that kind of horror film where dead people magically reincarnate or evolve to become zombies.
Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Hellen Shivers violently died in the first movie and she is staying that way in the second. No twists, no turns, no complicated plotlines just to bring her hot beauty queen character back.
“I am dead,” Gellar said, squashing all rumors of her return in the upcoming movie, which will see her husband Freddie Prinze Jr. reprise his role as Roy Branston. This doesn’t mean that...

When Helen Shivers was murdered on July 4th, 1997, there was no doubt she was a goner. And yet, Sarah Michelle Gellar keeps getting asked if she will turn up in the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer. But the reason she won’t is precisely the same reason she wasn’t in the 1998 sequel. Yeah, she’s dead.
Sarah Michelle Gellar recently told People that there isn’t a chance she will turn up in the planned fourth installment in the I Know What You Did Last Summer series, bluntly confirming, “I am dead.” However, she’ll still have a role behind the scenes, saying, “My best friend [Jennifer Kaytin Robinson] is directing it, so we joke that I have an unofficial job, which is I am continuity. So I’m always the one telling her, ‘Well, that would happen, or that wouldn’t happen with those characters,...

Sarah Michelle Gellar is making it clear she won’t return to the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel film because her character is dead.
With a sequel to the slasher film in the works, many fans speculated if Gellar would reprise her role of beauty queen Helen Shivers.
“I am dead,” Gellar told People about the fate her character faced in the 1997 film.
However, Gellar’s husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., will reprise his role, and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum said she will be part of the film in an “unofficial” capacity.

Edward Norton still has the honor of starring in the only solo Hulk movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he is also one of the few actors to have their role replaced in the series that spans over 30 movies and 10 canonical shows. Ruffalo began his MCU journey a dozen years ago in the first Avengers blockbuster; where he “incredibly” captured the duality of Banner/Hulk better than any prior performer. Ruffalo managed to pull off the feat in a team-up event, whereas Norton, and a pre-mcu Eric Bana, had an entire feature dedicated to the hero.
Ruffalo immediately connected with audiences more than any of his predecessors, which raised the bar for how compelling this hero could be in live-action, while also rounding out the Avengers ensemble wonderfully. He gave the Marvel Cinematic Universe a big green hand to help lift the franchise to stratospheric heights. Without individual projects to focus on,...

I feel fortunate to have started as a little seedling during 1980s Horror, but it was something special to grow into my own fandom of Horror in the 1990s. I’ve been sitting on this one for a while. I Know What You Did Last Summer (watch it Here) might not have been the pinnacle of 90s horror, but it sure as hell left an impression. This movie often gets overshadowed and overlooked, yet it deserves a higher spot among 90s teen slashers. Whether it’s a nostalgic rewatch or a first-time viewing, I Know What You Did Last Summer remains a must-see for its perfect mix of 90s charm, genuine scares, and timeless appeal.
Based very loosely on Lois Duncan’s novel of the same name, I Know What You Did Last Summer was brought to life in 1997 by director Jim Gillespie and writer Kevin Williamson, fresh off his success with Scream.

Selma Blair’s teen son Arthur has crossed a major first off his list: he’s finally watched one of his mom’s movie’s, something Blair told People she’s tried — and failed — to get him to do for years. Unfortunately, she added, the 13-year-old watched “Cruel Intentions.”
Blair explained, “I mean, I’ve tried, he’s never watched. But with a girl, he’ll watch ‘Cruel Intentions,’ and I was like, ‘Oh dear.'”
Arthur also mimicked an explicit gesture that her character performed in the movie. “He’s like, ‘Mom, what was that?’ Because my character Cecile does it. It was naughty. It was naughty, is my point.”
Ultimately, she continued, her son liked the film.

It’s not often I’d be talking about Agatha Christie, Renny Harlin, Val Kimer and LL Cool J in the same breath, but thanks to the world of Tinseltown magic, here we are! And, before you’re mis-led into thinking this video is about the great Netflix show of the same name, let me just set the record straight. This ain’t that one folks. Nope, the movie we’re focusing on today somehow manages to blend the classic British literary world of Agatha Christie with LL Cool J spitting out lines like. That’s right gore-hounds, twenty years ago director Renny Harlin was best known for action classics, pirate movies, dangling Sylvester Stallone from great heights and giant sharks; way before the likes of The Meg and more recently, Under Paris. Then, an intriguing project came his way that would blend the worlds of Agatha Christie and gangster rappers,...

Selma Blair has so much appreciation for some of her early acting projects that she’ll never pass on an opportunity to rewatch them.
The actress looked back at some of her favorite movies, including Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde, during an interview with People magazine at The Daily Front Row’s 11th Annual Fashion Media Awards on Friday.
Blair said of the 1999 cult classic that saw her play Cecile Caldwell: “It makes me so happy though, that it would give any more attention, because that movie is such a good, sexy … I don’t know, talk about wardrobe. I mean, she [costume designer Denise Wingate] did an amazing job with the wardrobe.”
“But it was one of the most gorgeous movies,” she added of Cruel Intentions, which also starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon. “It still lasts. It still holds up. And I love it. And I love everyone in that cast.

Splashy Last Week On The Lido
Uncharacteristically buzzy: The Venice Film Festival ends tomorrow after an uncharacteristically buzzy second week. The festival is usually front-loaded, with the splashiest titles playing early. This year, however, Alberto Barbera, who dished to Andreas, said the lengthy runtimes of some competition titles meant the spoils had to spread across both weeks. Enter Brady Corbet’s 215-minute post-wwii epic The Brutalist, starring Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Stacy Martin, Raffey Cassidy, Emma Laird, Isaach De Bankolé and Alessandro Nivola. The pic was well received, landing a 13-minute ovation from the Sala Grande audience. Pedro Almodóvar launched his English-language debut The Room Next Door with his leading ladies Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore.

Riverdale alum Camila Mendes has parted ways with Sony Pictures' upcoming reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
According to Deadline, the actress simply could not make the production dates work after recently signing on to play the female lead in Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films' Masters of the Universe movie, in which she'll play Teela.
As previously reported, Mendes joins Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man in the live-action adaptation of the classic animated series.
Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Hauer-King are still on board for supporting roles in Ikwydls, but we have no idea how losing its lead will impact the production.
We first learned that Sony was planning to develop a legacy sequel to the '90s slasher last year, with stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. in negotiations to reprise their respective roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson.
