- On June 8, 2019, Vince Vaughn received the third highest award bestowed by the United States Army to a civilian. He was presented with the Meritorious Public Service Medal in recognition of his lasting contributions to service member's morale. Mr. Vaughn has visited numerous military bases both domestically and internationally many times holding special screenings of his films. The award was presented at the annual ball hosted by the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA). The ball also celebrated the 244th birthday of the Army and the 75th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the code name given to the battle of Normandy during World War II. He was also recognized for his work in retelling a soldier's story in Mel Gibson's film Hacksaw Ridge (2016).
