Rama Rau's documentary League of Exotique Dancers will have its world broadcast premiere on CBC's Documentary Channel during its free preview month in February. We have a trailer for you to watch below as well as a collection of pictures of the ladies featured in Rau's doc. Back when the G-string was the point-of-no-return, live sexual entertainment was a formalized affair, with choreography, costumes and women with larger-than-life personalities and attributes. They were burlesque queens, with stage-names that could be out of a James Bond movie, like Lovey Goldmine, Kitten Natividad and Holiday O’Hara. And as we discover in Rama Rau’s up-close-and-personal documentary League of Exotique Dancers, they were proud performers who chose a life more colourful and dared anyone to tell them...

Rama Rau’s League of Exotique Dancers is an absolutely delightful and lovingly crafted doc structured around a group of legendary striptease artists as they prepare to return to the stage for the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas — a trip which becomes merely an excuse for the filmmaker to delve deeply into the extraordinary lives of some truly groundbreaking women. Among the timelessly sexy inductees is none other than Kitten Natividad, best known as cult director Russ Meyer’s buxom muse. Prior to the film’s Hot Docs premiere, Filmmaker was fortunate enough to catch up with the Beneath […]...

Haji, the star of cult film Faster, Pussycat! Kill Kill!, has died. She was 67. Her Double-d Avenger costar Kitten Natividad shared the news of her passing on her Facebook page on Saturday. No cause of death was given. The voluptuous raven-haired actress best known for her role as Rosie in the 1965 Russ Meyer film was born Barbarella Catton in Quebec City and was an exotic dancer at the age of 14 before moving to California and working as a performer in a topless bar, where she was discovered by the director (a former Playboy photographer). "I was dancing at a nightclub...

Ebert's scripts: 'sexploitation' cult fare As found on the IMDb, Roger Ebert wrote scripts for a total of three movies, "sexploitation" fare directed by maverick independent filmmaker Russ Meyer. The first of those was Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, which follows three young (and good-looking) women who find sex (lesbian and straight), drugs (of various sorts), and unhappiness in Hollywood. Distributed by the then-daring 20th Century Fox (Fox also released Raquel Welch and Mae West's Myra Breckinridge that same year), Beyond takes Jacqueline Susann's trashy bestseller Valley of the Dolls and its 1967 Mark Robson-directed filmization to an even higher degree of tacky campiness. Among the movie's cast members were Dolly Read, Cynthia Myers, Marcia McBroom (all three seductive beauties are pictured above), John Lazar, and frequent presence on the Academy Awards red carpet, Edy Williams. The second Roger & Russ collaboration was Up!, a movie whose tagline...

"Golden Goddesses" is author Jill Nelson's tribute to 25 women who played significant roles in the golden age of erotic cinema from the years 1968-1985, years when participation in adult cinema was illegal. Once upon a time, the adult film world was a "film" world, and we'll have an all-star cast here with author Jill Nelson to discuss the life & times of many of these golden goddesses and what it was like to be a movie outlaw. This over 900 page book is an unbelievable look at these women, but also a look at a part of the film industry that was making the rules as they went. Join us for an evening of spirited conversation & behind the scenes stories as we hang out with the "Golden Goddesses". Confirmed guests at this time include, Kay Parker, Serena, Rhonda Jo Petty, Annie Sprinkle,Georgina Spelvin, Nina Hartley, Kitten Natividad, Veronica Hart, Laurie Holmes,...

The Russ Meyer Show Featuring Kitten Natividad takes place in St. Louis this Friday, June 15th at The Way Out Club. Details at the end of this article.
Article by Jim Batts, Dana Jung, and Tom Stockman
Russell Albion “Russ” Meyer was born in California in 1922 and spent WWII as a combat photographer. In 1953 Playboy magazine debuted and Meyer was one of its first centerfold photographers. Meyer had a knack, and a passion, for photographing gorgeous, busty women and felt that the gals in the nudist camp movies that were popular in the ’50s were far too plain-looking for his tastes. In 1959, Meyer scraped together $24,000 and made The Immoral Mr. Teas, a quaint, colorful, and cartoonish movie about a nerdy fellow whose life is constantly interrupted by beautiful large-breasted women in various stages of undress. There was no sex in Meyer’s film and he made no pretense of presenting nudity as a lifestyle choice,...

This article was originally posted in February of 2010 but is being reposted here with updates and to tie in to next week’s Wamg Top Ten Tuesday List “The Best of Russ Meyer”.
Mondo Topless (1966) is Russ Meyer’s send up of the swingin’ 60′s, a pseudo-documentary portrait of San Francisco, and most of all, a tribute to Meyer’s favorite subject; naked women! The 61-minute sort-of-documentary is sparse, even by Russ Meyer standards – just a rock soundtrack by The Aladdins accompanied by an overexuberant announcer who provides double entendre narration as stacked women dance about displaying their figures. Mondo Topless, which seems relatively wholesome now, was definitely a product of its time and requires historical perspective (and, despite the name of this column, it Is available on DVD).
With today’s endless cornucopia of internet porn, it’s hard to believe that less than 50 years ago, there was an...

Buxom beauty Kitten Natividad is known to movie buffs as the last of Russ Meyer’s busty starlets, having starred in the cult director’s final two films: Up and Beneath The Valley Of The Ultra Vixens. Kitten’s untamed beauty, personal charm, sex appeal , and cartoonish 44-25-35 dimensions has left her image imprinted on the mind of many a young man who saw her in the Meyer films or her cameos in such mainstream fare as My Tutor (1983) and The Wild Life (1984). Kitten was also Meyer’s girlfriend the last fifteen years of his life and she appeared as a stripper at the bachelor party held by Sean Penn to celebrate his 1985 marriage to Madonna.

The two most important things that can happen to you in a mainstream movie are being killed and having an orgasm. Sometimes in facial close-ups it's hard to tell one from the other. When Pauline Kael saw that wall poster in Italy saying "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," she sensed she was onto something.
I've recently seen two movies centering on orgasms. The most intense is Steve McQueen's "Shame," starring Michael Fassbender as a sex addict. I think I'll save my observations about that one for my review. Hardly less intense was Louis Malle's "Damage" (1992), about an affair between a man and his son's bride-to-be. It made an impression on me at the time, and I was scouting it for a possible Great Movie review. It reminded me how important orgasms can be in the cinema.

I long for the days when Women in Prison flicks were a dime a dozen, and although they will never be made as often as they used to, Sugar Boxx is here to bring back that sleazy goodness from long ago! Francesca ‘Kitten’ Natividad has gone back to her roots after working with Russ Meyer in the 70′s on the skinsploitation movie Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens.
Sugar Boxx hits DVD on March 15, 2011.
Sugar State Women’s Prison. An Everglades hellhole where innocent girls are forced to slave in the swamps by day then turn tricks for the warden by night. A prison camp where corruption, brutality, and sexual abuse are all part of the daily routine. But when reporter Valerie March goes undercover inside Sugar State, that’s when the powder keg really explodes! Follow Valerie through prison life – catfights, knife fights, rape, whippings, prostitution, and the “hot...

Starring: Kitten Natividad (Supervixens), Jean Poremba (aka porn star Candie Evans and former wife to American Gladiator, Lazer), George "Buck" Flower (They Live and The Wilderness Family) and Gail Harris (Sorority House Massacre II, Hard To Die, and Cellblock Sisters: Banished Behind Bars) Well, Mark's hard work has finally paid off. He gets to revisit a movie he loves filled with plenty of T and A (and bush too). The movie's still terrible with juvenile humor, cartoon sound effects, a theme sound repeated 10 times that only has 3 words in it, but it harkens back to a time when Cinemax After Dark movies weren't all bored rich housewives who become prostitues and get screwed in the navel by dudes in badly orchestrated simulated sex scenes movies.
