As it approaches its 10-year anniversary in September, The Green Room has added three new talent managers to its ranks — producer and manager Andrea Nittoli, former development executive and producer Janelle Polk and agent Ben Brucato.
Nittoli previously was a partner at The 5 Management company, owner of Unlimited Talent Management, and worked with Brave Artists Management. She also served as a producer for David Rodriguez’s film Once Upon a Time in Queens, starring Paul Sorvino and Chazz Palminteri.
Polk moves to The Green Room after nearly two decades in the entertainment industry, including a nearly decade-long stint at Warner Bros. An artist herself, The Green Room notes “Janelle has a keen eye for talent, and her extensive relationships across the industry and strategic insights will be invaluable as she transitions into talent management.”

It’s been 24 years since the world saw the success of Martin Scorcese’s hit movie that is now considered timeless. Following the story of the mafia’s associate Henry Hill and his close people, 1990’s Goodfellas literally paved the way for all modern crime dramas.
However, few fans of this masterpiece know that there is a 90s must-see movie of the same kind that is not inferior to it at all and can even beat Scorcese’s film. Moreover, it also stars Robert De Niro at his peak and pays homage to the genre’s classics.
The plot of 1993’s film revolves around Calogero, an Italian-American teenager who is taken under the wing of the local mobster Sonny. The latter initiates the boy into the gang’s ways of proving themselves, and this world seems tempting for Calogero.
On the other hand, the boy faces control of his hardworking...

10. Bill Cutting from Gangs of New York (2002)
Authoritarian, ruthless, and cunning, Daniel Day Lewis’ Bill the Butcher stole the screen in Gangs of New York every time he appeared. His presence alone was menacing enough to make people drop on their knees and pray, and his impeccable skills with the knife only added a flair of danger to the man that already embodied it.
9. Nucky Thompson from Boardwalk Empire (2010–2014)
Nucky’s silver tongue and immaculate looks made him into the most charming type of gangster: the one everyone loves. Thanks to his persuasive skills and the ability to seamlessly blend his legal and illegal businesses, Steve Buscemi’s Nucky controlled the entirety of Atlantic City with few who could — or wanted to — oppose him.

Norby Walters, the onetime music agent who ran the annual “Night of 100 Stars” Oscar party for years and hosted an iconic low-stakes poker party for actors, died December 12. He was 91. His son, Walters Media Group founder and former Bold Films CEO Gary Michael Walters, confirmed the news but did not provide details.
Born Norbert Meyer, in 1952 Walters started booking jazz luminaries such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Getz into his father’s bar.
Walters and his brother, Walter took over a place from their father and dubbed it Norby & Walter’s Bel Air, but its sign had no ampersand — which led to the name Walters would use during his career. He later took over a failing nightclub located next to the world-famous Copacabana, dubbed it Norby Walters’s Supper Club, and attracted a who’s who of boldfaced New York City names.
“What was I going to do?...

For decades, Disney CEO Bob Iger has been a revered media titan, beloved by both employees and Wall Street — a rare feat and tricky balancing act.
That’s what made it so surprising to the creative community when the usually friendly and disciplined Iger, fresh off his private jet at Sun Valley, chose a setting known as “summer camp for billionaires” to castigate writers and actors for their “very disturbing” strike and economic expectations that are “just not realistic,” adding that Hollywood has been “a great business for all of these people.” SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher joined voices across entertainment in calling Iger’s comments “tone deaf” and, well, rich for someone who reportedly makes more than 500 times the median salary of Disney employees.

Samuel L. Jackson told The Times last year that he deserved to win the Oscar for best supporting actor over Martin Landau (“Ed Wood”) at the 1995 Academy Awards. In a new interview with Vulture, the actor said he was robbed of a second chance to win an Oscar just a couple years later with Joel Schumacher’s 1996 legal drama “A Time to Kill,” co-starring Matthew McConaughey and Sandra Bullock. The John Grisham adaptation starred Jackson as a man on trial in Mississippi for killing the two men who raped his daughter.

With 1993’s A Bronx Tale celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, two things are for sure. One, not every beloved movie does well at the box office. Two, if she doesn’t lean over and lift the car lock, dump her. But Robert De Niro has more to say on the former, as A Bronx Tale almost cost him his future as a director.
Speaking at the Tribeca Festival – which Robert De Niro co-founded as the Tribeca Film Festival as a way to bring prosperity back to New York after 9/11 – the actor/director recalled A Bronx Tale peaking at #7 and only grossing around $17 million at the box office. “How could you not be disappointed? You do all this work for it. At the same time, I was lucky to be able to make the movie I made.” He added, “I never got asked to do movies after that,” although, more accurately,...

A Bronx Tale, Robert De Niro’s 1993 directorial debut, starred as the Tribeca Festival’s closing gala with the famed actor acknowledging that he never got asked to direct again following the film’s inauspicious box office debut.
“I was lucky to be able to make the movie. I made it the way I wanted to make it. I didn’t compromise at all. And I took longer to do [it] than was scheduled. And I had a lot of pressure…So I never got asked to do movies after that. That’s okay,” he said, sitting down with Chazz Palminteri in an interview with New Yorker editor David Remnick after a screening of the newly remastered film.
Remick reminded him he’d also directed The Good Shepherd. “I did The Good Shepherd. But that was another uphill battle,” De Niro said.

Robert De Niro worked the crowd at the Beacon Theater during the Tribeca Festival closing gala on Saturday evening, which served as a 30th anniversary celebration of his directorial debut, “A Bronx Tale.”
When asked about the film’s mild box office — earning about $17 million on a $21 million production budget — the director said, “How could you not be disappointed? You do all this work for it. At the same time, I was lucky to be able to make the movie I made.”
De Niro also admitted that “I never got asked to do movies after that,” and it was an effort to get his next directorial effort, 2006’s “The Good Shepherd,” made.
“That was another uphill battle,” he said.
Following a screening of the film, De Niro, who also starred in and produced the film, discussed the project with writer and co-star Chazz Palminteri in a conversation moderated by The New Yorker’s David Remnick.

Robert De Niro is going from Cannes to Tribeca, as the world-renowned actor prepares to kick off the 22nd edition of the film festival he co-founded in 2001 with Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff. It runs from June 7 to 18 across New York City.
De Niro recently appeared at Cannes Film Festival for the world premiere of Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” in which he stars opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. When a Beatles song appears in movies and television shows, it usually means that the production paid a good deal of money for the right to use it. The Beatles have maintained such a powerful influence on popular culture that the weighty price tag is typically worth it. Here are seven perfect uses of Beatles songs in movies and television.

Paul Walker enjoyed a lengthy career in Hollywood that carried him through various roles in several unique movies before his unfortunate death in 2013 at just 40 years old. Fans likely remember him best as Brian O'Conner in the "Fast and Furious" franchise, but the talented and handsome actor also appeared in critical hits such as "Pleasantville," "Joy Ride," and Clint Eastwood's "Flags of Our Fathers," and served as executive producer on the films "Vehicle 19," "Hours," and "Pawn Shop Chronicles." He even enjoyed a guest spot on National Geographic's "Expedition Great White" in 2009.
In his youth, Walker popped up in a variety of high-profile TV shows, among them "Highway to Heaven," "Charles in Charge," "Who's the Boss," and "Touched by an Angel," before making the leap to schlocky B-movie horror films such as "Tammy and the Rex," opposite Denise Richards, in which his character's brain somehow lands inside a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

When you have a life story as incredible as Calogero "Chazz" Palminteri's, you have to make a movie out of it. Palminteri first told his story as a one-man show on the stage. He took the basics of his childhood and his more remarkable experiences, such as witnessing a murder at age nine or being friendly with the neighborhood gangsters, and turned them into a coming-of-age story.
On stage, "A Bronx Tale" was all Palminteri. To bring it to the screen though, he would need help. He ultimately found his creative partner in Robert De Niro. Both men shaped the film behind and in front of the camera. Palminteri adapted his show into the film's screenplay and played Sonny, the boss who takes young Calogero under his wing. De Niro directed and played Palminteri's own father Lorenzo, a strait-laced bus driver. The project became a crown jewel of De Niro's filmography.

Casablanca, 1941: You're a small-time crook eyeing up a wealthy-looking gentleman at the bazaar who is paying more attention to his lady friend than what is happening around him. After they've frogmarched several other men into the cell block they finally say why you've been brought here, and panic rises in your chest. You are suspected of murdering a high-ranking Nazi official!
"Round up the usual suspects" is my favorite quote from "Casablanca." It is uttered at the end by Captain Renault, the corrupt Vichy prefect of police, and there's a lot going on in those five words. First, it marks Renault's step towards the light as he joins the Allies in the fight against the Nazis.

The only Oscar that Samuel L. Jackson has ever won is an honorary statue, but the acting icon doesn’t mind considering he’s spent over 10 years and counting playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe stalwart Nick Fury. As Jackson told the Los Angeles Times, he’d rather make billion dollar-grossing Marvel movies than win Oscars or chase down Oscar-baiting roles.
“As jaded as I wanted to be about it, you know thinking, ‘Well, I should have won an Oscar for this or should have won for that and it didn’t happen,’ once I got over it many years ago, it wasn’t a big deal for me,” Jackson said. “I always have fun going to the Oscars. Although Jackson is being recognized with an Honorary Oscar this year, he’s only ever received one Oscar nomination: best supporting actor in 1995 for his role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction.”
“I should have won that one,” Jackson recently told The Times about his “Pulp Fiction” Oscar nomination. Jackson was nominated that year against Martin Landau (“Ed Wood”), Chazz Palminteri (“Bullets Over Broadway”), Paul Scofield (“Quiz Show”) and Gary Sinise (“Forrest Gump”). Landau was awarded the Oscar. Jackson said he missed out on another Oscar for “Jungle Fever,” for which he wasn’t even nominated. Two cast members from “Bugsy...

The movie “Yesterday” imagines what the world would be like if no one had ever heard of The Beatles. You can guess the impact that would have on the world of rock music, but we’d also be without a handful of great movies that found just the right note because they managed to score a movie moment in the way no other song would do. This list however excludes The Beatles movies like “Yellow Submarine,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Help!” and even the “Across the Universe” jukebox musical that are loaded with perfect such moments.

Bumpy Johnson’s wild ride through New York’s criminal underworld continues on August 8, when Godfather of Harlem returns for the back half of its second season.
In Epix’s crime drama created by Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein, Oscar winner Forest Whitaker plays the infamous crime boss, who wars with the Italian mob to regain control of his home turf when he gets out of Alcatraz in the early 1960s, aligning himself at the same time with Malcolm X (Nigel Thatch).
In Season 2, the series continues to examine the connection between crime, politics and systemic racism in America, then and now. The intersection between these facets of American culture is explored in depth in the midseason finale, “The Ballot or the Bullet,” which was written by Brancato & Michael Panes and which you can read in full below.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers from the series premiere of “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”)
Last Thursday’s debut of “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” which was really a two-hour premiere if you count Elliot Stabler’s (Christopher Meloni) return to “Svu” airing ahead of the first episode of his spinoff, wasted no time in introducing us to the show’s big bad: online-pharmaceutical crime boss Richard Wheatley (played by Dylan McDermott). And the second episode of “Organized Crime” will waste no time introducing him to Stabler, as you can see in the teaser photo above.
“There’s definitely a confrontation soon,” McDermott told TheWrap. “And Richard is always up for the task. He’s not an easy man to bring down and just because you approach him or accuse him. He has a lot of grit and a lot of power and a lot of stamina and I think that Stabler does,...

Earlier this season, one of the most venerable franchises on TV was forced to confront itself.
Returning for its 22nd season, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” stepped tentatively into a new world. The death of George Floyd had catalyzed a movement against the sorts of people Dick Wolf’s series had positioned as heroes, or at least people with a right to be involved in just about every social problem. Years after emerging as the standard-bearing cop show on TV — outlasting even the mothership “Law & Order” series — “Svu” was up against a powerful social movement. And in its season premiere last November, the show tried to split the difference, depicting the show’s police squad newly examining their biases all in light of a single twisty case.
The show, and others in the “Law & Order” universe, have long prided themselves on “ripping from the headlines,” or taking storylines directly from the news.
