Before the world went silent, New York was the city metropolis that we all know and love. Sam (Lupita Nyong’o) is a cancer patient at a hospice, reluctantly joining a group outing to Manhattan. While there, the creatures descend and begin to wreak their havoc. As Sam begins to get to grips with what’s happening, she crosses paths with Eric (Joesph Quinn), and the two begin their journey to safety.
Most of the time, a prequel that appears years after a franchise has been established — particularly one that has disrupted the timeline between films 2 and 3 — usually has no business outshining the others. The world of Arthurian lore is packed with great adventures, high drama. love, lust, betrayal, battles and conniving magic users. Camelot was born from pagan myths turned into chivalric romance, and its archetypes run deep and ancient. It is no surprise that filmmakers have long interested in the story of King Arthur, with varying results. The following list of 16 Arthurian-themed film and TV projects ranks the best of those ambitious cinematic efforts.
16) First Knight (1995)
Columbia Pictures rolled out First Knight in the summer of 1995. In just two months, Gladiator II will be hitting theaters. However, Ridley Scott first began considering a Gladiator sequel two decades ago… and it would have been absolutely bizarre, bringing Maximus (Russell Crowe) back from the dead in a supernatural tale full of Roman gods and mythology.
After first considering a prequel about Maximus’s early days in the military and a sequel which focused on corruption and politics in Rome, Scott shifted gears when he tapped Nick Cave to pen the script. The result was unlike anything you would have expected.
The script for the proposed Gladiator sequel would have opened with Maximus awakening in the afterlife, but not the one he imagined in the first movie. Instead, it’s a rain-soaked purgatory filled with miserable souls. He meets a guide named Mordecai, who takes him to meet Jupiter, Apollo, Mars, Pluto, Neptune, Mercury, and Bacchus. It’s a bad time to be related to a muscly Paul Mescal – the second Gladiator 2 trailer sees the Normal People star out for revenge.
Update: Gladiator 2 has a new trailer – the second one to be precise. It features altogether less rapping than the first one (see the original post below), but broadly the same amounts of Paul Mescal fighting his way through ancient Rome with his big, brawny arms. Oh, and baboons. Lots of baboons.
Gladiator 2 is out in UK cinemas on the 22nd November. In the meantime, here’s that shiny new trailer.
Our original story follows…
Original story 9th July 2024: We’ve finally got our first peek at Gladiator 2, and it looks nuts. The colosseum’s been transformed into a boating lake, there’s a siege going on at a big city, and the Roman empire might just be about to collapse.

‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ is a spin-off of ‘A Quiet Place’, a 2018 thriller directed by John Krasinski, who also stars in the film alongside his wife, Emily Blunt. The spin-off is a prequel to the first film, following the arrival of aliens on Earth and the ruin of society as a result of the invasion. Before the frightening events experienced by Evelyn and Lee (John Krasinski and Emily Blunt) in the previous films, the world was not dominated by aliens. Sam (Lupita Nyong'o) was among the humans accustomed to the noises of a metropolis like New York City, until the moment she witnesses the arrival of the creatures on planet Earth and the resulting massacre before her eyes. Now, she, Eric (Joseph Quinn), Henri (Djimon Hounsou) and Reuben (Alex Wolff), along with her cat and other survivors, will need to learn to survive with these monster-aliens that orient themselves...

Nineteen years after the release of the DC Comics adaptation Constantine (watch it Here), a sequel is finally moving ahead with director Francis Lawrence back at the helm and star Keanu Reeves reprising the role of occult expert John Constantine… but it’s moving ahead slowly, because it has already been a couple of years since this project was first announced. Now it has taken a big step forward, as executive producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura revealed to ComicBook.com that the Constantine 2 script has been delivered. He just hasn’t read it yet.
The producer told ComicBook.com, “You know, (the script is) in my inbox right now. Funny enough, I’m too scared to read it, though. I want it to be good so bad. I probably read it in the next few days. When I get on an airplane.“

Our top pick this week is five-time Academy Award nominee Yorgos Lanthimos’ black comedy “Kinds of Kindness,” which is now streaming on Hulu. It’s Lanthimos’ third collaboration with Emma Stone, after “The Favourite” and “Poor Things.” It’s unlikely to make as strong a showing at the Academy Awards as those two, but that’s pretty much by design, as the film’s anthology structure and darkly absurdist tone make it not the kind of thing that wins Oscars. Jesse Plemons did win Best Actor at Cannes, though, so he could be a longshot contender in that category, especially at the Golden Globes.
The film consists of three loosely connected stories about people experiencing various forms of severe distress. In addition to Stone and Plemons, the cast includes Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, and Mamadou Athie.

The movie was scooped up by Netflix out of Sundance 2023. She’s starring in two more thrillers: spy pic Inheritance from filmmaker Neil Burger and Anniversary, which also stars Diane Lane, Zoey Deutch and more.

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers from Deadpool & Wolverine.
So far, the MCU has brought in Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield as their respective Spider-Men, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, and Wesley Snipes as Blade from the non-mcu Marvel films, and fans could not be more thrilled about it.
Tyler Mane as Sabretooth in X-Men || 20th Century Fox
Tyler Mane was also among the many actors who made their way into the MCU. His fight with Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine was a part of the marketing and ended up being a great upset in theatres given how short it was. However, fans are hoping to get another iteration of the fight come Avengers: Secret Wars, given the tons of cameos that are expected to be a part of the film from Marvel Legacy characters.

In second place, Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” held its ground, adding £2.5 million to reach a four-week total of £30.8 million. Warner Bros.’ “Twisters” maintained its position in the top three, generating £1.1 million in its third week for a cumulative total of £10.1 million.

Ridley Scott has been very active these past few years delivering film after film of varying genres. The master filmmaker has been entertaining audiences since the 70s and some of his films like Alien, Blade Runner and Gladiator have become some of the most iconic films of all time. However, the director’s recent works have not lived up to the audience’s expectations.
Russell Crowe as Maximus Decimus Meridius in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator | DreamWorks Pictures
After films like The Last Duel, House of Gucci and Napoleon not doing well at the box office, Scott is aiming to strike back with Gladiator II. The film is a sequel to the beloved 2000 film Gladiator starring Russell Crowe. The sequel will see the return of some familiar characters from the first film. "He really wanted different tones and textures and themes." Paramount has unveiled an 8-minute behind-the-scenes featurette for the sci-fi prequel A Quiet Place: Day One, which is now available on digital to watch at home (and on VOD soon). If you haven't caught up with it yet, this movie is one of the best summer blockbusters of 2024 and I highly recommend it. This behind-the-scenes promo video spends time exploring the making of the movie from all angles - story, cinematography, apocalyptic setting, etc. It's a nice look at what went into creating this sci-fi prequel. Lupita Nyong'o stars as a woman named Sam who gets caught up in the apocalyptic New York City mayhem when the alien creatures arrive and attack. As every street goes quiet, she is thrown together with a man named Eric. With some reluctance, the pair agree to navigate and survive the city together. The cast also includes Joseph Quinn,...

Whether you feel Ridley Scott's Best Picture winner "Gladiator" is a red-blooded, fist-pumping swords and sandals brouhaha or a "muddy, fuzzy, and indistinct" affair, we can surely all agree it's got a killer cast. Russell Crowe as the stoic hero Maximus, playing the role that snagged him an Oscar a year after he should've won for "The Insider," is the calm at the center of the storm. He has to be a little boring, otherwise he wouldn't work as the foil to Joaquin Phoenix's larger-than-life turn as Commodus.
The rest of the ensemble is wall-to-wall veterans firing on all cylinders, including Connie Nielsen as Maximus' incorruptible ex and Commodus' sister Lucilla, Richard Harris as Marcus Aurelius (playing the Roman emperor as a frail old man finally forced to reckon with his bloody legacy), Djimon Hounsou as Maximus' confidante, fellow enslaved arena fighter, and all-around good guy, Juba, and...

Back in 1994, writer/director Roland Emmerich and co-writer Dean Devlin brought us the sci-fi adventure film Stargate, a box office hit that launched a franchise, being followed by multiple TV shows, books, comic books, video games, and direct-to-video features. The most popular of those follow-ups was the TV series Stargate Sg-1, which ran for ten seasons and then wrapped up with the aforementioned Dtv movies. It’s been a while since we got any new Stargate to watch, though – and not for lack of trying. Back in 2014, it was announced that Emmerich and Devlin would be rebooting the franchise with a new trilogy of films, starting the story over again from the beginning and tell it to its completion. Then developed the idea for a couple of years, but then it all fell apart. Last year, we learned that Stargate is one of the properties Amazon is looking to revive now that they required MGM,...

There’s a lovely moment, towards the tail end of Michael Sarnoski’s A Quiet Place: Day One, in which British expat Eric tries to lift the spirits of his post-apocalyptic travel companion.
To put it mildly, he and Sam have been through the wringer these past 24 hours. Together, they have witnessed the ultimate downfall of human civilisation as we know it, watched helplessly from the sidelines as their fellow New Yorkers have been slaughtered in droves, and had a disproportionate number of close calls with the “Death Angels”; considering that those beasties only just fell from the sky that very same morning. It’s been a stressful day to say the least, even by the Big Apple’s standards.
Yet as they’ve soldiered on through stampeding crowds and flooded subway tunnels, there’s been a tantalising prize helping them stay sane. An incentive for the duo to keep...

All about Rebel Moon Director’s Cut. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
While Rebel Moon films were being touted as the next Star Wars, the franchise did not quite live up to the expectations. Well, the films are finally getting a chance at redemption as their extended versions, envisioned by director Zack Snyder, are gearing up for release.
The director’s cut version of both Rebel Moon Part 1 and 2 will soon be streaming on Netflix. The new versions are said to be starkly different from the original films with additional scenes, a violent theme, and an R-rating.
Rebel Moon Director’s Cut to be Significantly Longer Than the Original Films
Both Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire and Part Two: The Scargiver clocked a little over two years. The Director’s cut versions will be significantly longer than the initial ones, with each film adding an hour to its runtime.

A Quiet Place: Day One is an experience where moviegoers witness the day the world went quiet in this terrifying continuation of the A Quiet Place universe. When Samira (Lupita Nyong’o) returns home to New York City, her simple trip turns into a harrowing nightmare when mysterious creatures that hunt by sound attack. Accompanied by her cat Frodo and an unexpected ally (Joseph Quinn), Samira must embark on a perilous journey through the city that has suddenly gone silent, where the only rule is to stay quiet to stay alive. Djimon Hounsou and Alex Wolff also star in this intensely suspenseful thriller.
The visual storytelling in A Quiet Place: Day One delivered a powerful and immersive cinematic journey that relied heavily on imagery to convey its narrative and emotional depth. Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead Snow, Violent Night) is headed into the open waters for an untitled shark attack horror movie, and Deadline reports this afternoon that Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place: Part II) has signed on.
Phoebe Dynevor (Fair Play) and Whitney Peak (Hocus Pocus 2) also star.
Adam McKay and Kevin Messick will produce the untitled movie for Sony, with Variety recently noting that production is expected to take place this coming summer in Australia.
“Plot details are being kept under wraps,” the site also reported back in May.
Wirkola’s project is one of many new shark attack movies in the works, with Lizzy Greene starring in High Tide and Sean Byrne directing Dangerous Animals, to name just a couple.
The prospect of a shark attack movie directed by Tommy Wirkola is particularly exciting, however, as Wirkola’s movies are always wildly entertaining and extremely bloody.

Neither of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon movies received an overly warm response from critics or, for that matter, sci-fi fans. Now, though, both Part One: A Child of Fire and Part Two: The Scargiver are getting a second chance on Netflix with R-Rated director's cuts.
According to the Justice League helmer, these will allow fans to "experience Rebel Moon the way I've envisioned it," a peculiar statement when the first two versions being released on streaming (rather than in theaters) should have meant Snyder had the creative freedom to do as he saw fit.
"Delve further into the mythology and madness of Zack Snyder’s epic sci-fi saga in the viciously sexier, bloodier world of Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon - Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness," reads an official description.

What was initially a plan for a Star Wars film rejected by Disney seems to have transformed into the worst flop in the career of director and writer Zack Snyder, as the recently released Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, the sequel to Rebel Moon, is once again panned by critics, with the ratings listing it as Snyder’s worst movie – yes, worse than even the horrible Sucker Punch and the first part of Rebel Moon.
But, it seems that this won’t be stopping Snyder from expanding his franchise, as per the most recent reports. We know that Snyder and his writers are currently working on the script for a third movie if Netflix decides to make it, but a new project is coming sooner than expected and in a very unexpected format.
But, aside from this, we’d also like to report that the fans are not too happy about this,...

"Their wrath will be my vengeance." Netflix has launched the full red band trailer for the R-rated versions of Rebel Moon, the epic Zack Snyder sci-fi saga. Snyder teased this version last year when the first Part 1 opened in late 2023. This is the definitive, actually-what-he-wanted-to-make version of this movies - hard R in every sense. The new Director's Cut movies are titled Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon - Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness. These an original Zack Snyder creation, a Star Wars-esque sci-fi adventure about a ragtag team of rebels. In a universe controlled by a corrupt militaristic government, the moon of Veldt is threatened by the forces of the Imperium, the army of the Mother World controlled by "Regent Balisarius". Sofia Boutella stars as Kora – a former member of the Imperium who rallies warriors from across the galaxy to fight back against them.
