The network’s annual It’s a Wonderful Lifetime programming kicks off on Saturday, November 18th and will feature 12 all new movies throughout the season.

David Jacobs, the celebrated creator of hit ’80s TV series “Dallas” and “Knots Landing”, has died. He was 84.

Jacob’s son confirmed to multiple outlets on Tuesday that his father died on Aug. 20, at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, from complications due to Alzheimer’s.

Jacobs left an indelible mark on the TV landscape when he created the primetime soap opera “Dallas” — which went on to run for 14 seasons — as well as the wildly popular spin-off series “Knots Landing”, which aired for 14 seasons as well.

Jacobs is also known for co-creating the Western drama series “Paradise”, alongside Robert Porter, which ran from 1988-1991.

Apart from his work as a TV writer, he also served as an executive producer on a number of shows, including “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” and “Homefront” — the latter of which earned Jacobs two back-to-back Emmy nominations in 1992 and 1993.

David Jacobs, who created the smash 1980s primetime soaps Dallas and Knots Landing and was a two-time Emmy nominee for Homefront, died August 20 of Alzheimer’s complications at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, his son said Tuesday. He was 84.

“He had Alzheimer’s for many years, and recently he had recurring infections that led to his death,” Aaron Jacobs told Deadline today.

Born on August 12, 1939, in Baltimore, Jacobs started out writing nonfiction books and magazine articles before pivoting to TV, penning episodes of series including Family, Chicago Story and The Blue Knight. He went on to create Dallas and its spinoff Knots Landing, with the former bowing in 1978 on CBS.

And we know you're excited about the four-part Cutler Saga, kicking things off with the first in the series, Dawn.

We can already tell you it's pure campy fun, and the cast is no joke.

We had the opportunity to sit in on a presser with the cast of Dawn, with a special appearance by V.C. Andrews' ghost writer, Andrew Neiderman.

It was all copacetic as everyone discussed how they got into character, gushed over star Brec Bassinger's performance and work ethic, and expressed all the fun they had filming this piece.

Fortunately, TV Fanatic got the opportunity to jump on Zoom with star, Bassinger, to discuss what it was like to play the film's titular role as we follow her through her journey from adolescence through adulthood.

The first episode in the miniseries introduced Dawn Longchamp, who has grown up in humble but loving circumstances. Her hardworking family includes her devoted father Ormand, as well as her older brother Jimmy. But Dawn’s world is rocked to the core when she discovers the people who raised her are not her real parents.

Once the truth comes out, everything Dawn knows and loves is ripped away from her. She’s forced to adjust to life with the Cutlers, a strange new family whose dark and twisted secrets change the course of her life forever.

Lifetime is the exclusive home for horrors and movies from the Andrews' impressive library, and the previous projects have resonated with the cabler's audience.

Each part of the new four-chapter limited series focuses on one of Andrews' Dawn Cutler novels, including Dawn, Secrets of the Morning, Twilight's Child, and Midnight Whispers, and delves into the dark and twisted histories of the Cutler, Booth and Longchamp families.

Brec Bassinger (Stargirl) takes on the title role of Dawn Longchamp and will be joined by Emmy winner Donna Mills (Nope) as Lillian Cutler.

Ava DuVernay has ended her rich overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group, multiple sources confirm to Variety.

While news of this decision comes amid the writers strike, the contract talks were unrelated. DuVernay’s deal was set to expire on May 31 and the two parties came to a “mutual decision not to renew.”

DuVernay signed the multi-year agreement in 2018, which was reported to be valued at $100 million, following the parties’ successful collaboration on OWN’s “Queen Sugar,” which signed off last year after seven seasons.

“Ava DuVernay is one of the leading lights in our industry, a brilliantly talented writer, producer, director and entrepreneur whose ability to inspire with her art is exceeded only by her ability to entertain,” former Warner Bros. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power won the award for best mature audience television, and Resistance: 1942 won the award for best mature audience movies.

Blair Underwood, Finn Wittrock, Victoria Pedretti, Isha Blaaker, Leonardo Nam, Donna Mills and Emily Yancy have been added to the ensemble cast for Ava DuVernay’s latest film, the adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.

They join a cast that already includes Aunjanue Ellis in the lead role, plus Vera Farmiga, Niecy Nash, Nick Offerman, Jon Bernthal, Audra McDonald and Connie Nielson. Writer-director DuVernay is producing Caste alongside Paul Garnes of Array Filmworks.

Wilkerson’s nonfiction book is told through multiple real-life stories and examines how America, throughout its history, has been shaped by a caste system, or a human hierarchy that dates back generations, but still affects the present.

Underwood worked with DuVernay on the limited series When They See Us, and his credits include Showtime’s Three Women and Netflix’s Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madame Cj Walker.

Blair Underwood (American Crime Story), Victoria Pedretti (You), Isha Blaaker (The Flight Attendant) and Finn Wittrock (Ratched) are among the final major additions to Academy Award nominee Ava DuVernay’s latest film Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, based on the bestseller of the same name by Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson.

While the plot of Caste hasn’t yet been divulged, the work of nonfiction hailed by The New York Times as “an instant American classic” is said to examine the little-known system of hierarchy that has shaped America.

Caste will also star Vera Farmiga, Niecy Nash, Nick Offerman, Jon Bernthal, Audra McDonald and Connie Nielsen, as previously announced. DuVernay is directing from her own script, also producing alongside veteran collaborator Paul Garnes of Array Filmworks.

Former 20/20 anchor Elizabeth Vargas is back on the news beat.

Vargas — who left ABC News’ 20/20 in 2018, after 14 years at the newsmagazine — has joined Nexstar’s upstart cable news network NewsNation (formerly known as WGN America). She will host the daily 6 pm evening news program Elizabeth Vargas Reports, beginning April 3, in addition to serving as a regular contributor for the network.

Donna Mills is set to guest star in the Jan. 17 episode of ABC’s crime series “The Rookie: Feds.”

In an episode titled “Out for Blood,” Mills plays Layla Laughlin, a famous cosmetics maven who, according to the character description from ABC, had “humble beginnings,” and “began as a single mom who made her way by developing skincare products in her kitchen.”

“The Rookie” spinoff stars Niecy Nash-Betts as Special Agent Simone Clark, Frankie R. Faison, James Lesure, Britt Robertson, Felix Solis and Kevin Zegers. Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winters co-created the series and also serve as executive producers and co-showrunners.

According to the logline for “Out for Blood,” the episode puts a spotlight on Zegers’ character: “As the unit investigates a murder victim whose body has been drained of blood, the gruesome case catches the attention of a true crime show, and Brendon shares his ‘Vampire Cop’ expertise to help solve the case.

Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated third feature film, “Nope,” has finally arrived.

The film follows Peele’s first two horror films as a writer/director, 2017’s “Get Out” and 2019’s “Us.” Known for his comedy and leading role in “Key and Peele,” Peele has quickly become a draw for fans as a filmmaker and “Nope,” unlike Peele’s first two films, leans heavily into the sci-fi genre with a blockbuster-sized budget. Peele reteamed with Daniel Kaluuya on the film, which finds a brother and sister duo trying to catch UFOs on camera.

Apple TV+ shared a teaser for the fourth and final season of its psychological thriller “Servant,” which will premiere on Jan. 13. M. Night Shyamalan executive produces the series, which will air weekly through March 17, 2023, on Apple TV+.

The show stars Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free and Rupert Grint, who all reprise their characters for the final season. In addition to Shyamalan, the series is executive produced by series creator Tony Basgallop, Ashwin Rajan, Jason Blumenthal, Taylor Latham, Larissa E. Michel, Steve Tisch and Todd Black.

Ghosts is doing a second take on the opening of Jay and Sam’s B&b in a newly released extended trailer for Season 2 of the hit CBS comedy.

Airing Thursday, Sept. 29 at 8:30/7:30c, the premiere finds the husband and wife disagreeing over whether to use their ghostly pals to spy on their guests. Elsewhere in the preview, Thor compares Trevor to Odin (“if Odin’s butt check always visible every time he bend over”); Flower reveals that she slept with a very popular band; Hetty has some strong feelings about the washer; and the basement ghosts get a visitor.

Hot on the heels of their Flowers in the Attic: The Origin limited series, Lifetime’s dipping back into the V.C. Andrew well for a movie event based on the bestselling Dawn Cutler series. Iliza Shlesinger’s latest comedy special with Netflix titled “Hot Forever” — her sixth for the streamer — has set a release date for October 11. The Avalon-produced special was filmed at the Connor Palace in Cleveland this past July.

The special was directed by Steven Paley, with Shlesinger serving as executive producer alongside Avalon’s Kara Baker and David Martin. Her previous specials with Netflix include 2019’s “Unveiled,” 2018’s “Elder Millennial,” 2016’s “Confirmed Kills,” 2015’s “Freezing Hot” and 2013’s “War Paint.”
