Exclusive: Psychological thriller She Came Back (formerly known as Maternal), starring Anne With An E and Stranger Things actress Amybeth McNulty, has set a domestic release through Tricoast Worldwide.

TriCoast will release digitally in April, 2024, with a limited theatrical run beforehand. Raven Banner will handle international sales at the upcoming EFM and release in Canada.

The movie follows the journey of Charley (McNulty) who, after a near-death experience, is haunted by her relationship with her deceased mother.

Directed by Megan Follows, who co-stars, cast also includes Kris Holden-Ried (Departure), Athena Karkanis (Manifest), and Colm Feore (The Umbrella Academy).

Dana Abraham of Red Hill Entertainment produces. Pic is written by Christina Vegas who also serves as a co-producer with Dean Armstrong under their 16-11 Films banner. Associate producer is Stephanie Gorin, while Qamar Qureshi and Parth Jani are serving as executive producers for Red Hill and Jani Entertainment, respectively. Michael Paszt and Ideal Entertainment also exec-produce.

"Do you think that he would love the person that you are now... or not?" Gravitas Ventures has revealed an official trailer for Better Days, an indie comedy about grief and self-discovery. This recently premiered at the Cinéfest Sudbury Film Festival in Canada, and it's set for a VOD debut in December. Not to be confused with the acclaimed 2019 Chinese film also titled Better Days. After her husband dies, a woman starts to do whatever she wants and begins wearing her husband's Halloween costumes. When her children order her to go back to being her old self, she must decide whose happiness matters most in a delightful comedy about starting over & figuring yourself out before it's too late. The film stars Sonja Smits as Kate in the lead role, with Alix Sideris, Sara Hinding, Gregory Calderone, Blair Williams, Dean Armstrong, Sugenja Sri, and Luke Francis. Looks like a nice story...

The Old Way is a Western directed by Brett Donowho, written by Carl W. Lucas starring Nicolas Cage.

Yes, Nicolas Cage will (probably) work with no breaks this year and already has premieres ahead such as Renfield (in which he will be Dracula with his usual mayhem). Meanwhile, we can see him here in a Western which although it might not go down in the History of Film, is decent enough as far as production and ambience.

And, also has an incomparable philosophical subject: Nicolas Cage wears a Stetson!

With production underway on Blumhouse's new adaptation of Stephen King's Firestarter, it's been revealed that Ryan Kiera Armstrong has joined the cast (including Zac Efron and Michael Greyeyes) as the pyrokinetic Charlie.

Young actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong has been cast as ‘Charlie’ in the upcoming feature film Firestarter from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse and Weed Road Pictures.

Armstrong joins Zac Efron and Michael Greyeyes who were previously announced.

Exclusive: Amybeth McNulty (Anne with an E), Laura Vandervoort, Kris Holden-Ried, and Colm Feore are set to star in Maternal, a suspense thriller which will be directed by Megan Follows.

Set to begin production at the top of the year, the indie follows the terrifying journey of our protagonist Charley (McNulty) who, after a near-death experience, is haunted by her relationship with her deceased mother.

Chris John penned the script. Producers are Ideal Entertainment in association with RedHill Entertainment along with Dean Armstrong of 16/11 Films. The film will be distributed in Canada on Mother’s Day 2020. The U.S. theatrical release will be announced at a later date.

Actor Paul Walker starred in the first Joy Ride feature, way back in 2001. It is thirteen years later and villain Rusty Nail is still cruising back roads and highways, in search of more victims. Joy Ride 3: Road Kill will release through video-on-demand June 3rd and home entertainment formats June 17th (DVD, Blu-ray); Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will handle the home release. This past Saturday (10/20) this writer, along with actresses Natalie Victoria (DeadHeads) and Carlee Baker (The Woman)' made the drive from Hollywood to Temecula, CA, to participate in Run For Your Lives, a zombie-infested 5K obstacle course race and lived to tell about it.

A national phenomenon, this past weekend’s Run For Your Lives event was set up at Vail Lake, Temecula, and in addition to the well-organized race, it included live bands, food and alchohol vendors and a Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines booth (the film streets tomorrow, 10/23, on DVD and Blu-ray via Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment), where filmmaker Declan O’Brien spent some time signing materials after completing his heat (no lie, I had to talk him into the former, and as it turned out, he was happy I did).

So how does Run For Your Lives work? It’s pretty straightforward.

From Anchor Bay Entertainment, director Thomas J. Wright's direct-to-video,  2012  dramatic thriller "Hiding" is now available on DVD, starring Tyler Blackburn, Ana Villafañe, Jeremy Sumpter, Dean Armstrong, Kelcie Stranahan and Candace Marie :

"...New York City teenager 'Jo' (Villafañe) witnesses the killing of her parents and is quickly rushed off to rural Montana as part of the 'Witness Protection Program'. After watching the movie I know why it's unrated and went straight to DVD, the film would have never received a R rating due to the gore, sex and nudity shown. Wrong Turn 4 is directed by Decian O’Brien (Wrong Turn 3) and stars Terra Vnesa, (Sive Girls), Dean Armstrong (Saw 3D) and Kaitlyn Wong (Locked Down). Wrong Turn 4 is a bit of a prequel to the original Wrong Turn.

This looks like a dumb horror sequel with nothing going for it but copious nudity and gore…not that there is anything wrong with that.

Director Declan O'Brien (Wrong Turn 3) again sets out to direct a Wrong Turn film. This time the title is Wrong Turn 4 or Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings. This third sequel is really a prequel as events take place before the first film in 1973. The disfigured cannibals One Eye (Dan Skene), Three Fingers and Saw-tooth (Scott Johnson) escape from a a sanitarium. Then their path of destruction is set, with some cozy campers coming by for a visit in 2003. They will not stay long, however. Before you know it Wrong Turn 4 has turned into an enjoyable horror feature that is unfortunately hampered with elements of predictability.

These three killers, mentioned above, appear in Wrong Turn 3; so, you know that they will be surviving this film. Only one question remains: how steep will the body count be?...

Honestly ... can you think of a better way to kick off your weekend than by spending a little time with some brutal and bloodthirsty hillbilly cannibals and coming out unscathed? Yeah, man! That's a pretty tall order!

I never saw Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead, but I really liked Wrong Turn 2 despite hating the original starring Eliza Dushku. For those unfamiliar to the now-direct-to-video Wrong Turn horror franchise, it centers on a group of inbred mutant mountain men (that's hot!) that get their rocks off killing anyone that may wander into their West Virginia wilderness hunting grounds. Yeah, we're not talking high art here, but when done right as it was in Wrong Turn 2, it can prove to be a lot of fun.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced that Saw 3D will move to DVD and Blu-Ray formats January 25th. Fellow 28Dla writer, Ed Sum, has reviewed this title (here).

Also announced is the releases of special features on this title. The DVD and Blu-Ray versions will host assorted commentaries, including a track from writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. There will be the usual deleted and extended scenes, along with the slightly unusual inclusion of music videos. The Blu-Ray will be presented in 3D and more details on the special features and the release are below.

Our thoughts: It sure took long enough, but it looks like one of the most profitable horror franchises in the past decade is finally coming to end. “Saw 3D” is supposedly the last installment of the series, and as a result, the filmmakers behind this seventh flick made sure to stuff it with tons of blood and some of the nastiest traps yet.

Everything has been leading to this. Or so you'd think. Let's be frank, if we've learnt anything from our series of articles revisiting the Saw series over the last week, it's that the franchise is so wrapped up in retcons, flashbacks and time-bending shenanigans that you couldn't really be surprised if this one had turned out to take place in 2003, before even that very first film back in 2004.
