Writer/Director James Bartolomeo credits much of his diverse storytelling acumen to long hours spent on sets with the likes of David Chase, Darren Aronofsky, James L. Brooks, and Barry Levinson while working in the camera department on feature films and high-level episodic.
He has been crafting visual stories in the commercial space for the past 20 years with a focus on dialogue and character-driven performance. Rooted in his work is an appreciation not only for aesthetics, but also unguarded moments that reveal human nature in its most dazzling and authentic expressions.
James grew up in Baltimore before moving to New York City after college. His first experience on a film set was as a PA on John Waters' 'Hairspray'.
His film,'The City', a silent film portrait of urban development in America spanning the 20th century, premiered at Carnegie Hall in 2016 accompanied by live orchestra performing a new symphony composed by Pulitzer Prize winner Kevin Puts.
His original screenplay, 'Heart of Brass', was selected for the Stowe Story Labs in 2021.
