Co-chairs Natasha Koifman and Suzanne Boyd hosted the 14th annual Artists for Peace and Justice (Apj) Festival Gala, an intimate evening raising over 725,000 for education in Haiti.

The night began with a beautiful performance by Haitian-Canadian Wesley (Wesli) Louissaint and Congo-born Lionel Kizaba. Emcees George Stroumboulopoulos and Natasha Gargiulo then returned to the stage for their second consecutive year co-emceeing the Apj Festival Gala, expressing gratitude for supporters and guests and stressing the importance of the cause while detailing the current climate in Haiti.

Natasha Koifman, Canada Board Chair, US Board of Directors and Festival Gala Co-Host, spoke passionately about her commitment to the cause and appreciation for the long-time supporters in attendance. Opening the night in a grateful, passionate, and motivational tone, Koifman thanked everyone who made all of this positive change possible. She highlighted the overall pass rate of above 90 per cent, 1,300 students graduating since 2016, and over 27,000 students attending since its opening.

At the end of the first episode of Murdoch Mysteries back in 2008, inventor Nikola Tesla proclaimed, “We are men of the future, Detective Murdoch, and what a future it shall be.” He was the first of many historical figures to become a character on the quirky, long-running Canadian series, set at the turn of the 20th century, and his words were certainly prophetic. According to TorontoFilm.Net, cable company AMC, home of "Mad Men" and "The Walking Dead" will partner with Toronto-based Shaftesbury Films, producers of TV series "Murdoch Mysteries" and "Slasher", for the further development, production, distribution and reach of Shaftesbury content:

"Getting Canadian stories and creative talent in front of the international market has always been Shaftesbury's mission," said Shaftesbury CEO and Chairman Christina Jennings. "This relationship will give us a big leg up..."

"Murdoch Mysteries" premiered on Toronto's Citytv in 2008, and currently airs on Canada's CBC and AMC's Acorn TV, based on characters from the 'Detective Murdoch' novels by Maureen Jennings, starring Yannick Bisson as 'William Murdoch', a police detective working in Toronto, Ontario in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Detective Murdoch is back on the case and is returning next month. Ovation has announced that season 14 of the Murdoch Mysteries TV series (previously titled as The Artful Detective in the United States) will debut on Saturday, February 20th. There are 11 episodes this time around.

The Murdoch Mysteries program revolves around Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), a methodical and dashing detective from the early 1900s, who enlists radical new forensic techniques like fingerprinting, ultraviolet light, and trace evidence to solve some of Toronto's most gruesome murders. The rest of the cast includes Hélène Joy, Thomas Craig, Jonny Harris, Lachlan Murdoch, Shanice Banton, Daniel Maslany, Arwen Humphreys, and Siobhan Murphy.

The day Audrey (Sheila McCarthy) and Henry Walsh’s (Julian Richings) grandson Jackson died was the day they sold their souls to the Devil—figuratively speaking, of course. It wasn’t until they joined a Satanist church run by a bunch of posers in a community center that the idea to bring him back became more than simply a fantasy. That’s where they learned about an ancient book of dark magic possessing the means to do so and how they might find it. With all questions about its legitimacy evaporated after one of its spells inexplicably helps a dead crow fly again, the time finally arrived to fulfill their intention of transferring Jackson’s soul into another woman’s (Konstantina Mantelos’ Becker) unborn baby so that he may live once more.

We meet this trio on the day of the kidnapping only to learn the Walshs left nothing to chance.
