New Sequels, Prequels, and Spin-Offs

Stanley Kamel was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on January 1, 1943 and was raised in South River, New Jersey. He attended high school at Rutgers Prepatory School (graduated 1961) in Somerset, New Jersey and received his college degree from the Boston University School of Fine Arts in 1965. Kamel got his start in acting with bit parts off-Broadway before his big break into television (as a regular cast member) portraying Eric Peters #2 on Days of Our Lives (1965) from 1972 to 1976.

He played a lot of different characters over the years, and his face was well known to most. He had a recurring role as the unscrupulous psychiatrist, Dr. Graham Lester on Murder One (1995). He also had recurring roles on the hits Melrose Place (1992) and Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990). Late in his career, Kamel was probably best known for playing Dr. Charles Kroger on Monk (2002) starring Tony Shalhoub.

On April 8, 2008, Kamel was found dead in his Hollywood Hills (Los Angeles) home by his long time agents, Donna Massetti and Marilyn Szatmary, having died of a heart attack. Kamel was only 65 years old.

Kamel&#39;s fatal heart attack was used to explain his character&#39;s death in <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/title/tt1189399/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Mr. Monk Buys a House (2008)</a>.

Kamel was found dead in his home by his longtime agents and friends, <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm2219976/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Donna Massetti</a> and <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm2230277/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Marilyn Szatmary</a>. He is interred at Anshe Emeth Cemetery, East Brunswick, New Jersey. He is survived by his brothers, Stephen and Robert, and extended family, including a number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

<a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/title/tt1189399/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Mr. Monk Buys a House (2008)</a>(#7.1) was dedicated &quot;In loving memory of Stanley Kamel&quot; (which aired first in US on July 18, 2008 - and Germany on March 3, 2009; the last episode of the previous season #6.16 aired Feb 22, 2008 where Kamel still attended).

Studied with acting coach <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0577073/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Sanford Meisner</a>.
