- In the early '90s, Sarah's mother, Pamela Brown (née Heberlie), a writer, wrote the PSA campaign "Stop The Violence," which was created to raise awareness of domestic violence. It starred Andre Romell Young, AKA Dr. Dre.
- Sarah's first cousin is Andy Brown, an Air Force veteran and the author of "Warnings Unheeded." At 25 years old, Andy halted a mass shooting at Fairchild Air Force Base on June 20, 1994. For his heroism, he was honored with the Airman's Medal on June 30, 1994, at the direction of then-President Bill Clinton.
- Sarah began singing in the third grade when she was chosen to participate in her elementary school choir at Erwin Street Elementary School in Los Angeles, California. She's an alto but she doesn't sing professionally.
- Sarah's former bosses, Shuki Levy and Haim Saban, composed the music for Dennis the Menace (1986) and MASK (1985). Both series starred Brennan Thicke, Sarah's former high school partner.
- Sarah met Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993) actress Amy Jo Johnson while she was still in high school, and both actresses were studying acting with Walter Raney. The two later became next-door neighbors, and Amy Jo recommend Sarah for the lead female role in Saban's V.R. Troopers (1994).
- Sarah is of English, Scottish, German, Norwegian, Baltic, Welsh, and Eastern European ancestry.
- Celiac Disease runs in Sarah's family, with several generations of her mom's family suffering from the disease. Both Sarah and her mother have Celiac disease. Sarah's mother's father, Burton W. Heberlie, died with small bowel intestinal cancer, and his second cousin, Gilbert L. Barham, died from stomach cancer.
- Sarah's great-grandfather, William Thomas Heberlie, her mother's father's father, was a pharmacist who purchased Bair's Pharmacy in Chico, CA. In addition to his pharmaceutical pursuits, he was a conductor, played several instruments, and he was a lifelong member of the Musicians Union.
- Sarah's mother's father and her father's father were both Navy veterans who served during WWII.
- For twelve years, Sarah's mother taught creative writing inside California's prison system through the Artist in Residence program, supported by NEA and CAC grants. Following this endeavor, she extended her compassionate work to A.I.D.S patients and homeless youths.
- Sarah's second and third great-grandfathers on her mother's father's side were early California pioneers and among the first residents of Chico, CA. They served as teamsters in John Bidwell's employ before eventually establishing their own teaming businesses. The father and son teamsters were Lorenzo Isaac Barham (2xGG) and John James Barham (3xGG). Lorenzo Barham built up the larges business of the kind in Northern California during his lifetime. His business extended into Colusa, Glenn, Tehama, Yuba and Sutter Counties. He was also agent for the Sacramento Transportation Company at Chico Landing.
- Sarah graduated high school alongside actress Paula Patton and casting director Ivy Isenberg. During their senior year at Alexander Hamilton Academy of Music, the trio collaborated in several plays, including 'Spoon River Anthology' and 'The Crucible'.

- Sarah's parents each have different copies of the genes that cause Celiac Disease. Sarah has the Celiac gene her late father had. Sarah's brother, Elijah Brown, has the gene their mother has.
- Sarah's father, David, graduated high school, turned 18, and had his first child, all in the same week.
- Sarah's father was a recovering alcoholic. He hadn't had a drink in 23 years when he passed away in 2020. He credited Alcoholics Anonymous and his daughter for helping him get sober. David's addiction was drinking beer, which he consumed in excess for about 7 years. Sarah often attended her father's sobriety birthdays to help him celebrate.
- While Sarah was a student at L.A.C.H.S.A., she studied voice and speech with actress Penny Johnson Jerald, who was a full-time teacher at the high school at the time.
- Sarah's first time on stage as an actor was in a community theater production of the musical 'Annie' when she was 11 years old.

Sarah is a fifth generation California native. Sarah's 4th great-grandmother and her 3rd great-grandparents were early California pioneers settling in the state about 1857. The Newsom and Barham families intermarried many times over several generations.
- Sarah's father, David Brown, a visual artist and businessman, had two children from his first marriage before marrying Sarah's mother, Pamela in 1973. Together, they had two children: Sarah and her older brother, Elijah David Brown. Following their parents' divorce, Sarah and Elijah were raised in Ventura County, CA, for a number of years, alongside their half-sister, Hannah, and her mother, Sharon T. Douglas.
