Created his "Lord Buckley" persona after buying an oversized cape made for an elephant from a bankrupt circus.

One of his publicity stunts was to be driven around in a casket in the back of a "flower car" hearse, and when the hearse stopped at a traffic light, Buckey would open the casket and announce his nightclub appearance that night.

Performed both comic and dramatic vocal works, often based on historical figures, classic literature or flights of fantasy, in what one critic described as "word jazz"; a free-flowing, almost improvisational style somewhere between rap and classical storytelling, peppered with inventive slang and visualizations.

His ashes were scattered in Red Rock Canyon, outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
