As the future king and senior member of the royal family, Prince William has spent his entire life in the spotlight. Therefore, everything he does and says while out in public is seen by millions around the world. The Prince of Wales usually handles himself very well in almost every situation he’s in. One video that has been circulating on the internet though shows a side of William most people haven’t seen after he runs into a photographer he believes was lurking around his property looking for him and his family.
The confrontation occurred when William and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) were out riding bikes with their three children. Several videos of the incident that were posted online were quickly taken down. But a few still remain including a snippet recently uploaded to TikTok.

Sir Bobby Charlton, an English soccer icon and the leader of his country’s 1966 World Cup-winning team, has died. He was 86 and died of complications from dementia at home surrounded by family.
A gifted midfielder with a ferocious shot, Charlton was the leading scorer for United (249 goals) and England (49 goals) for more than 40 years, until being overtaken by Wayne Rooney.
Charlton made 758 appearances for United from 1956-73, playing alongside George Best and Denis Law in the so-called “Trinity” that led United to the 1968 European Cup.
The team was noted for several players surviving a 1958 Munich plane crash which wiped out the celebrated “Busby Babes” team.
Charlton won three English league titles and one Fa Cup with United. Ovrall, he played 106 matches for England, including every minute of the team’s World Cup-winning team, for which he scored three goals.
A statue of him is outside of Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium.

The World Cup only happens every four years, and each tournament brings with it its own ups, downs, trials, tribulations, surprise contenders, and thrilling finales. The 2019 Women's World Cup saw the USA win the trophy for a second consecutive tournament; Qatar 2022 gave Lionel Messi a fairy tale ending at last.

England and USA from Group B join Senegal and The Netherlands, the two teams which made it to the last 16 stage from Group A. Other teams which have qualified for the knockouts till date are Brazil, Portugal and France, all the three having made it to the next stage with a game to spare as they have won two of the three group matches.

This sentimental survey of the life of the fallen football legend retreads familiar turf, adding nothing new
Is there anything new to be said on the subject of Manchester United’s fallen legend George Best? Certainly not in this sentimental hagio-documentary, which trundles out the same old ideas, without anything fresh in the way of context or perspective.
There are one or two nice contributions from the interviewees, but Bobby Charlton or Denis Law are not in the film. Anything about Best has to answer the hotel bellboy’s apocryphal question: “Where did it all go wrong?” – although it is a measure of this film’s piety that this anecdote is primly unmentioned. Probably rightly, the documentary puts it down partly to Matt Busby’s retiring as Manchester United’s manager in 1969; without his wise and fatherly guidance, Best succumbed to a tendency to indiscipline that was the flipside to his intuitive brilliance,...

There are few clubs that polarise opinion like Manchester United. Love them or loathe them, you can never ignore them. United have been one of the biggest clubs in the world for decades and are one of the best supported clubs in the world.
Naturally, a club of United’s stature are nearly always linked with players from all over the world.
For a club that has always looked to its youth ranks for talent, United have never been shy of bringing in star players. Even back in the 1960’s George Best and Bobby Charlton, graduates from the youth team were joined by Denis Law, whose transfer from Torino was a British record.
Fast-forward to the Alex Ferguson era, and the like of Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, the Nevilles and Nicky Butt found themselves rubbing shoulders with Eric Cantona, Juan Sebastian Veron and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Manchester United are one of the world’s biggest and most successful football teams and have dominated the British game for the last two decades, winning no fewer than 38 trophies over the last 27 years, including 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League crowns. Because of their success they have been able to sign some of the biggest names in the sport, from ‘King’ Eric Cantona through to Cristiano Ronaldo.
A great number of the players United have signed have gone on to either enjoy tremendous success or become a club legend, with their names still sung from the Stretford End to this day. Players such as Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs will live forever in Old Trafford folklore while the likes of Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best and Denis Law have been immortalised in the form of a statue outside the famous stadium.

Manchester United is one of the world’s biggest clubs, despite their torrid season last time out, where they finished 7th amid a series of fallouts and poor showings. After 26 years of Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm, it was always going to be a season of transition. They did not play well at all and players like Wayne Rooney nearly left the club, with the majestic Ryan Giggs also retiring.
However, the list of players who regret leaving Man United could still fill several books. These players range from talents full of youthful promise who drifted into obscurity to experienced players who left for pastures new who found out that the grass was not greener on the other side. Sometimes sticking is better than twisting in life. The list of successful one-club men at United like Giggs, Paul Scholes and Bobby Charlton is testament to this fact.

Jack O'Connell is not pissing about. These are his words. He has just put in the performance of his career in prison drama Starred Up, he's shooting Angelina Jolie's Unbroken – an account of the life of Olympic runner and second-world-war hero Louis Zamperini – in which he again takes the lead, and he's about to tackle a blockbuster with Zack Snyder in 300: Rise of an Empire. He has been acting for 10 years. He's done with partying – he's ready to justify himself. He's intense and focused, older and wiser than the kid who came up through the ranks of the E4 teen drama Skins. He's 23 years old.

Last night, Wayne Rooney took his goals tally for Manchester United to the 200 mark, becoming only the fourth player in the famous club’s history to have done so.
The milestone came as the England international scored a brace in the comfortable 4-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League and puts him just 11 strikes behind the legendary Jack Rowley.
Rooney is also 37 goals away from equalling Dennis Law’s record as United’s second-highest goalscorer and 49 away from tying with the saintly Sir Bobby Charlton.
And Red Devils manager David Moyes believes the former Everton man can become an all-time great at the Theatre of Dreams.
With the striker still relatively young at 27, there is every possibility he will go on to break all kinds of records at Old Trafford and overtake Charlton, a feat many once thought would never be accomplished.

Back in 2004, Wayne Rooney, was the most sought after teenager in football. Having fought off other clubs, Manchester United signed the prodigious teenager for £25.6 million plus add-ons. A fee which was a record for a teenager. On his debut, a Champions League match against Fenerbache, Rooney introduced himself with aplomb. He scored a hat-trick and whilst he was already a fans favourite following his signature, this feat further cemented him as such.
Following years of successes, on 19th October 2010, Sir Alex Ferguson stated that Wayne Rooney wants to leave Manchester United and will therefore not be extending his contract (BBC Sport). In what was considered as a huge u-turn, within a few days, Wayne Rooney extended his contract, withdrew his transfer request and therefore pledged his allegiance with the club (BBC Sport). Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is considering handing in a transfer request after being left “confused and angry” by comments made by manager David Moyes, according to the Independent.
Since his appointment at the club, Moyes has gone out of his way to publicly placate Rooney in an attempt to pour cool water over the claims he is about to leave the club.
The former Everton manager has told the England international that he could become a club legend by overtaking Bobby Charlton as United’s all-time top goalscorer, and has insisted the 27-year-old is not for sale.
However, it is Moyes’ comments in Bangkok that have infuriated Rooney, leaving him feeling dejected and confused as to his role in the English champion’s squad.
At the weekend, Moyes is quoted as saying that “if for any reason we had an injury to Robin [van Persie] we’re going to need him...

Have you ever wondered what are the films that inspire the next generation of visionary filmmakers? As part of our monthly Ioncinephile profile (read here), we ask the filmmaker the incredibly arduous task of identifying their top ten list of favorite films. Eleanor Burke & Ron Eyal (Stranger Things) provided us with a combined/all time top ten film list (dated: April 2013).
Les Quatres cents Coups Blows (400 Blows) – Francois Truffaut (1959)
“I saw this when I was at secondary school (high school) and there was something in it that really spoke to me. It’s the film that made me want to be a director.” (Eb)
“Truffaut was getting out there onto the streets of Paris with the camera and capturing life. I love the playful scene with Antoine turning upside-down on the Rotor, and that final breathtaking tracking shot as Antoine runs down to the sea.” (Re)

So football’s greatest nearly man has decided to call it a day. That’s right Michael Owen has decided to hang up his Umbro’s and bid farewell to his playing career. I call him ‘football’s greatest nearly man’ lightly, he of course has had a great career but it could have and possibly should have been even better. He nearly became a Liverpool legend, he nearly surpassed Bobby Charlton’s England goalscoring record, he probably should have broken England’s all time appearances record, I could go on. The fact of the matter is who is going to regard him as one of the all-time greats? In a career that started so explosively it has somewhat fizzled out like the proverbial firework bought from your local Spar.
Is it even a shock he has announced his retirement? It’s crazy to think he is only 33; he’s...

According to The Guardian, Bayern Munich’s honorary president, Franz Beckenbauer has announced that the German side would love to sign Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, only for United legend Sir Bobby Charlton to insist the deal wouldn’t happen.
Wayne Rooney, 27, failed to make the starting eleven of Manchester United’s Champions League side against Real Madrid which has sparked speculation of a move away from Old Trafford. Despite Sir Alex Ferguson denying the claims and willing to offer the striker a new deal, rumours continue to circulate.
Former player and manager of Bayern Munich, Franz Beckenbauer said he would be:
“Very, very happy if Wayne Rooney decided to come to Bayern Munich”
Which sparked a response from Sir Bobby Charlton:
“Sir Alex Ferguson said he had no intentions of letting Wayne Rooney travel to anywhere and you have to abide by that, 100 per cent. He’s a great player.

Last Sunday’s Premier League encounter between Liverpool and Manchester United was an emotional affair. It was the first home game that Anfield hosted since the release of an Independent Panel Report into the Hillsborough disaster of 1989, which revealed that police tried to blame the victims’ for the tragedy, and even attempted to defame the deceased by using police records to look into their background.
TV cameras captured the poignant scenes, as Patrice Evra shook hands with Luis Suarez for the first time since suffering racial abuse at the hands of the Uruguayan international, for which the Liverpool forward received an eight-match suspension.
Fans watching at home also saw United legend Bobby Charlton make his way onto the pitch to present a bouquet of flowers to Ian Rush – Liverpool’s record goalscorer, before captains Steven Gerrard and Ryan Giggs released 96 red balloons in memory of those who died that day.

Both Liverpool and Manchester United fans respectfully observed a tasteful and emotional opening ceremony at Anfield in remembrance of the 96 supporters who lost their lives in the Hillsborough tragedy of 1989, but the occasion was marred after the final whistle when a handful of home supporters ran across to United fans still waiting to be released from the stadium and started making aeroplane gestures, in reference to the Munich Air Disaster of 1958 when eight United players were killed.
It was the first home game for Liverpool following the findings of an independent panel set up to investigate the Hillsborough stadium crush of 1989 were published – showing police attempted to blame the tragedy on fans and tried to defame the victims by using police records.
Prior to proceedings, as both sides emerged wearing tracksuits bearing the number “96″ on the back for the customary handshakes, TV cameras focussed on United defender Patrice Evra.

Veteran Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has signed a one-year contract extension at Old Trafford after coming out retirement in January this year.
Scholes called time on his 18-year career after fearing he couldn’t gain first team football any longer and rather than leaving to join another team he remained a one club man and decided to hang up his boots. Less than six months later, after the Red Devils were faced with injury problems and the discomfort of looking up towards Manchester City, Scholes was persuaded by Sir Alex to come out of retirement.
This deal has now been extended for an additional year, with Scholes set to feature in big games for the club as well as act as a role model for the likes of Tom Cleverley and Nick Powell.

Mark Cavendish has been crowned 2011's BBC 'Sports Personality of the Year'. The cyclist beat golfer Darren Clarke and athlete Mo Farah into second and third place respectively. Upon receiving the award from Sir Bobby Charlton, he said: "I'm absolutely speechless, without my team, this wouldn't be close to possible. "I'd like to thank everyone that supports me, and obviously well done to all the other people who were nominated. Just to be nominated this year in such an incredible year in UK sport, I'm lost for words." He added: "I want to thank everyone at home who's voted. For me it's a landmark in cycling, for cycling to be recognised in a non-Olympic year is unheard of, and it's incredible to see." It was a friend's birthday, and I think (my memory might be playing a sick trick here) Albert Steptoe takes a bath in a tin tub and I found it weirdly thrilling.

There are a lot of positives to be taken from England’s victory against Spain on Saturday; but if history has taught us anything, it’s that we must not, as England fans, get carried away by one good result. Prior to Saturday’s 1-0 win against Spain, it had been 31 long years since an England football team had beaten the reigning World Champions. On the 13th of May 1980, England played host to 1978 World Cup Winners Argentina, in what was Diego Maradona’s first appearance on English soil. Two goals from Liverpool’s David Johnson and a goal from the soon to be Southampton striker Kevin Keegan led England to a 3-1 win that day, and all seemed rosy.
Until four days later England played Wales in the ‘British Home Championship’. Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground was the venue that day, and England’s players appeared to never even come out...

Living in the mining town of Barnsley, Yorkshire, the life and future of 14 year old Billy Casper (David Bradley) is unpromising. Confined to poverty, he is a petty thief, and mediocre student soon to face the unescapably bleak prospect of joining his older brother Jud in the mines. Billy’s mother (Lynne Perry) spends her free time with her admirers in the local, hoping to fulfil her dream of “a nice house and someone to come home to.” To her, Billy is a “hopeless case” who receives little more than nonchalance. Jud, Billy’s bullying older brother rules the house and like their mother, is more interested in the opposite sex. But Billy’s pastimes of reading the Dandy and pilfering milk are soon substituted by raising Kes, the kestrel he ‘discovers’ near his home which brings him real happiness and a new experience of freedom.

The rather bloated Champions League draw that every year seems to take about three times longer than absolutely necessary has finally finished in Monaco and Manchester City fans, in their first participation in the competition, must have been sweating that they nearly ended up in what would have been a group of death alongside giants of Europe Barcelona and AC Milan.
In the end they dodged that bullet (and Barcelona/AC Milan certainly did too) as the obscure team Bate Borisov (bet you don’t know what league they play in without looking it up) were handed that unlucky card along with Viktoria Plzen (likewise).
The blue half of Manchester instead drew out German side Bayern Munich, Spanish qualifiers Villareal and Italian side Napoli (who finished 3rd in Serie A) and despite a few tricky games, I would suggest they probably fancy their chances of not only qualifying but also winning the group outright.

Shooting is due to start at the end of August on Private Peaceful, a feature film based on the 2003 novel by the award-winning children’s author, Michael Morpurgo. The story follows the journey of two brothers from childhood growing up in a rural English village, all the way to fighting in France during WW1 – a tragic, surprising and moving tale.
19 year old George MacKay (represented by Gordon and French) will star as Tommo. George started acting when he was 10 and landed the role of Curly, one of the Lost Boys in the 2003 feature Peter Pan. He has worked steadily since, and more recently he appeared in Defiance and The Boys Are Back.
Skins alumni Jack O'Connell (represented by Conway Van Gelder) will play his brother Charlie. Jack, from Derby, has worked consistently since leaving Skins starring in Dive and most recently Sky 1's The Runaway and as a young Bobby Charlton in United.

A documentary about a radical 1970s social experiment shows human beings in a pretty poor light
Here, then, is this week's other simian film, a documentary by James Marsh (of Man on Wire fame) that toys with many of the same ideas as Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Having watched both, I'm tempted to say that the fictional film has a happy ending that is brutally – or, rather, humanly – denied to the hero of this one.
Project Nim was a sensational Pygmalion-type experiment devised by Professor Herb Terrace, a specialist in primate cognitive abilities at New York's Columbia University. In 1973, he wanted to see if a chimp (called Nim) could be taken into a human family and taught to communicate with sign language. Yet Marsh elegantly shows his audience that this is not entirely what Project Nim was about. Without any of the human participants acknowledging or even realising it,...

Boxing Legend Cooper Laid To Rest
Boxing legend Sir Henry Cooper was laid to rest on Wednesday, with sporting greats including Sir Bobby Charlton and Kevin Keegan turning out to pay their last respects.
The British fighting legend and charity advocate passed away at his son's home in Surrey, England after a short battle with ill health, two days before his 77th birthday earlier this month.
Following his death, boxing icon Muhammad Ali gave a moving tribute to his one-time adversary, saying, "Henry always had a smile for me; a warm and embracing smile. It was always a pleasure being in Henry's company."
Soccer heroes Charlton and Keegan were joined by fellow sports stars Sir Trevor Brooking and Barry McGuigan and beloved British TV personalities Bruce Forsyth, Sir Terry Wogan and Russ Abbott at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Kent, England to bid farewell to the fighter.
Cooper's coffin arrived at the church draped in a Union Jack flag, with a red wreath in the shape of a boxing glove and his nickname, 'Our 'Enry', was spelt out in white chrysanthemums.

Tonight marks the end of Soccer Fever!—a week-long run of soccer films at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The mini-festival closes with a rich and meticulous look into the World Cup in 1966, the only time England won it all. Goal! World Cup 1966 is narrated by the inimitable Nigel Patrick, his contemplative voice painting the film in earnestness at one turn, cheeky sarcasm the next. This is a rarely seen print, with incredible footage not only of English greats such as Bobby Charlton and Nobby Stiles, but of Pelé, Eusebio, and Franz Beckenbauer as well. It’s fascinating to see how much of the film seems to foreshadow today’s world of soccer. “Spain,” Patrick says when introducing the teams, “who never punch their weight in World Cups.” Later there are shots of the stands, so packed with people that the fans sway back and forth uncontrollably, like waves in...
