Actress/mixed martial artist Sydney Sweeney, is currently in training to play real-life ‘super welterweight’ boxer ‘Christy Martin’ in a new feature, directed by David Michod, co-starring Ben Foster, Merritt Weaver, Katy O’Brien, Ethan Embry, Jess Gabor, Chad L. Coleman, and Tony Cavalero:

Boxer ‘Martin’ competing between 1989 and 2012 was crowned world champion in the ‘super welterweight’ class in 2009. But in 2010, she was viciously attacked and seriously injured by her husband. Despite the odds, she miraculously survived to eventually make a spectacular comeback.

"Over the past few months, I’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman,” said Sweeney.

“A true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring. Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. More to come soon…”

Sydney Sweeney has become known for her bombshell looks and, despite Madame Web's failings earlier this year, hits like Anyone But You and Immaculate have made her one of Hollywood's most bankable young stars.

Now, Sweeney has showcased her physical transformation to play legendary boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming untitled biopic.

After paparazzi photos of the actor were circulated on social media, Sweeney took to Instagram (via TheRingReport.com) to confirm she's playing Martin in a movie being directed by David Michod.

For those of you who aren't aware, Martin competed between 1989 and 2012 and was crowned world champion in the super welterweight class in 2009. In 2010, the boxer was stabbed and shot her by husband, James Martin, but miraculously survived. He's now serving a 25-year prison sentence for attempted second-degree murder.

In a Wednesday Instagram post, the actress sardonically thanked the paparazzi for spoiling her casting news.

She’s starring as Martin in an untitled sports biopic, directed by David Michod, that recently started production. Martin is a former professional boxer who competed from 1989-2012 and was the world champion in the super welterweight class in 2009. In 2010, she also survived a murder attempt by her husband, James Martin. He stabbed Christy multiple times and shot her at their Florida home, but she survived. In 2012, James was convicted of attempted second-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison.

She was physically abused by her husband Jim Martin, who was also her boxing coach and manager, who was later charged with attempted second-degree murder with a firearm and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Christy’s life was previously portrayed on screen in the “Deal with the Devil” episode of the anthology documentary series “Untold.”

In said trailer, Captain Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) tries to eat a marble and asks an alien to move over so he is framed better in the viewscreen. Lt. Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes) drinks beer while on duty, flying a shuttle, at 9:15 a.m. Commander Kelly Grayson’s (Adrianne Palicki) former marriage to Mercer is treated to rather stale “comic” arguments about going to therapy. Mercer’s reaction to Lt. Commander Bortus’s (Peter Macon) species being entirely male is to observe, with truly cutting and original wit, that they probably don’t have many arguments about leaving the toilet seat up.

Adapted from a comic that ran for 144 serialized issues, Prime Video’s Invincible has a lot of plot to get through if it wants to hit its seven-to-eight season target.

That means that any given episode of the show features abundant background material with supporting characters in addition to the usual Mark Grayson a.k.a. Invincible (Steven Yeun) hijinx. The latest example of a seemingly unimportant character getting prominent billing comes in season 2 episode 2 “In About Six Hours I Lose My Virginity to a Fish.” While Mark prepares to fulfill the unfortunate promise of the episode’s title, the plot occasionally drifts over to focus on a very strange astronaut named Rus Livingston (voiced by Sonic the Hedgehog himself: Ben Schwartz).

But who exactly is Rus Livingston? Where did he come from? And how did he come to be the superhero “The Shapesmith.

The upcoming fourth season of the CW’s “Superman & Lois” will be its last. The series’ final ten episodes are set to air in 2024.

Without “Superman & Lois,” only three shows from before Nexstar’s acquisition of the CW will remain on the network: “All American,” “All American: Homecoming” and Walker.” The conclusion was expected, however, as DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran indicated to press in January that they expected the series to run for “one or two more seasons.”

Ghoulies II will be released on Blu-ray on September 12 via Mvd’s Rewind Collection. It comes with reversible artwork, a slipcover, and a mini poster. The first Ghoulies hits 4K Uhd and Blu-ray the same day.

The 1987 horror-comedy sequel is directed by Albert Band (I Bury the Living) and written by Dennis Paoli. Damon Martin, Royal Dano, Phil Fondacaro, J. Downing, and Kerry Remsen star. Charles Band executive produces.

The CW’s Superman & Lois has set the returning cast for the recently picked up 10-episode fourth season, with four of the 12 Season 3 series regulars coming back amid budget cuts. Departing as series regulars are Dylan Walsh, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wolé Parks, Tayler Buck and Sofia Hasmik, Deadline has learned. The CW is staying put in Smallville, renewing Superman & Lois for a 10-episode fourth season, TVLine has learned.

“We are thrilled to bring Superman & Lois back to The CW,” network president Brad Schwartz said in a statement, on the heels of also renewing All American: Homecoming. “These series are two of our strongest performers across our linear and digital platforms with some of the most passionate fanbases in all of television. Review: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is one of the greatest stories ever told so it’s no surprise to see it adapted in so many different ways. The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster is not the first version of Frankenstein set in the Black community. There was Black Frankenstein, better known as Blackenstein, back in 1973 and more recently FrankenThug. The difference is while the previous two versions were exploitation films, writer/director Bomani J. Story set out to make a more serious film, one that like Mary Shelly’s novel, is out to do more than just deliver scares.

Vicaria has not had an easy life. At eight she saw her mother shot and killed. In the wake of that, Chris started working for local gang boss Kango and ended up dead. Now she watches her father Donald struggle to support her despite the growing drug habit he’s developed trying to cope with their deaths.

First up, we just premiered the brand new Screambox Original documentary Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story on Bloody Disgusting’s Screambox yesterday in celebration of #RobertEnglundDay, so check that out if you haven’t yet!

Crypt TV, an entertainment company that was launched in 2015 by Jack Davis and Eli Roth, with Blumhouse Productions on board as an investor, has put together it first domestic feature film: a new take on Mary Shelley’s classic story Frankenstein called The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster. We had previously heard that Rlje Films will be giving the film a theatrical, VOD, and digital release on June 9th, but now those plans have changed slightly. The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster will still be reaching theatre screens on June 9th, but the VOD and digital side of the release has been shifted back to June 23rd. So the film will have a two week theatre-only run before it’s available to watch at home.

The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster will also be streaming on Shudder and AllBlk at some point down the line.

After refusing to let Bruno see Pia unless he hands over his arsenal of weapons and experiments (including Bizarro’s corpse!), John found both himself and Natalie in Intergang’s crosshairs, leading to a fatal confrontation between John and Atom-Man aka Henry Miller. And since Wolé Parks‘ character remains alive and well, you guessed it, John is the one who killed Henry. At this point, Superman, Natalie, the boys — everyone is worried about where this troubling journey will lead John next.

The CW is leaving the Wild West behind, cancelling Walker Independence after just one season, TVLine has confirmed. Earlier today, the mothership series Walker was renewed for a 13-episode Season 4.

Walker Independence‘s freshman season averaged 950,000 total viewers and a 0.1 demo rating (with Live+7 playback). Out of the 14 dramas that The CW aired this TV season, it ranks No. 4 in audience and is an eight-way tie for sixth in the demo.
