Richard Pryor movies were exceptionally popular in the 1970s and 1980s, but that was a problem for TV networks — the comedian’s foul-mouthed jokes were hilarious in theaters but could cause a station to lose its license if broadcast over the public airwaves. That’s why it was common practice to dub R-rated comedies with darns for damns, hecks for hells and fudge for even more profane punchlines. And for at least one Richard Pryor movie, the 1987 comedy Critical Condition, the comedian’s voice was filled in by Full House’s Uncle Joey.
You read that right — producers brought in Dave Coulier and his impression skills to help scrub Critical Condition clean of profanity. Oprah herself couldn’t believe it when she asked Coulier if he would “do Richard Pryor for me.”
How did a nice young actor like Coulier get a job as the voice of America’s premier Black comic?...

Marla Sokoloff’s daughters were not impressed by her Full House character’s rebellious attitude.
During Sokoloff’s Friday appearance on Dave Coulier’s podcast Full House Rewind, the actress said that her character Gia was “perfect” for her because she was “so biting and always being set up by somebody to come in and do something deplorable or irritating.”
“That’s inherently in me,” admitted Sokoloff.
Sokoloff was a recurring guest star on Full House for seasons seven and eight, where she played Gia, Stephanie’s best friend. Initially introduced as a troubled teen who smoked in the school bathroom with a bad crowd, Gia eventually shed her “bad girl” ways with Stephanie’s help.
“Didn’t you smoke or something on the show?” Coulier asked Sokoloff. When she confirmed that she did have to smoke herbal cigarettes on Full House, the actor wondered if Sokoloff’s daughters have...

It has been more than two years since the untimely death of Full House star and comedian Bob Saget. That Saget was both a beloved sitcom star to a generation and one of the more revered vets on the stand-up circuit made the loss all the more impactful in the world of entertainment. As is the case with losing any close friend, those that knew and worked with him had to find a way to cope with the sudden loss. For John Stamos, it was in the comfort of his voice.
John Stamos revealed on the Full House Rewind podcast – hosted by Dave Coulier – that he found himself turning to listening to the audiobook version of Bob Saget’s 2014 memoir, Dirty Daddy: The Chronicles of a Family Man Turned Filthy Comedian. “Do you remember when his book came out? “Do you remember when his book came out?” Stamos asked the podcast host and his former co-star. “It was very dirty and weird. And so and for whatever reason, the night [Saget] died, I put on his audio tape and it gave me such comfort. I don’t know why. I listened to it every night when I went to sleep.”
The Grandfathered actor noted that as he continued to listen to Saget’s stories in Dirty Daddy: The Chronicles of a Family Man Turned Filthy Comedian, one anecdote caught his attention.

Alyssa Milano has paid tribute to her “Charmed” co-star Shannen Doherty, who died Saturday at age 53.
“It’s no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at its core was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of,” Milano said in a statement provided to Variety. “She was a talented actress, beloved by many and the world is less without her. My condolences to all who loved her.”
Milano and Doherty starred alongside Holly Marie Combs in “Charmed,” in which they played a trio of magical sisters from 1998 until 2001 when Doherty’s character, Prue Halliwell, was killed off in the Season 3 finale. The show would air its eighth and final season in 2006.
As Milano referenced in her statement, she and Doherty had a “complicated” off-screen relationship for years. In December 2023, Combs claimed that Milano got Doherty fired from “Charmed,” to which Milano responded in an Instagram...

Shannen Doherty refused to slow down.
Late last year, the actress launched a memoir-style podcast, Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty, a vehicle which she used to inspire others. In an interview about it with People, she remained defiant.

Yesterday, her journey came to an end, and her friends in Hollywood took to social media to remember the spirit she showed.

Jimmy Kimmel is finally hosting “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” the way it’s supposed to be done — in front of a studio audience. The landmark game show returns with an all-celeb edition for its 25th anniversary on Wednesday night, and although this is the third season he’s been in the chair that Regis Philbin made famous, this is the first time fans have finally been allowed back in the studio.
“I really wanted to do it the proper way in front of people because you like to hear people laugh at your jokes,” Kimmel says. “Also, the drama that goes along with a couple of hundred people watching the action happen is an important part of the show. I mean, doing the show in front of nobody is no fun.”
But that’s what Kimmel had to do in March 2020 when he first came on to host the primetime series’ revival.

Duchovny continued, “I had plenty of those pilots that I went up for when I was first out in LA, and I thought each one was going to be the break. I just needed to be able to pay my rent too.

Speaking on his Full House rewatch podcast, Dave Coulier said he was given the freedom to add to his character, who helps raise DJ, Stephanie and Michelle. “I got to pick my own last name, did you know that? My character last name…Yeah, Jeff [Franklin, the series’ creator] said ‘I’m trying to get a last name for your character,’ and I said, ‘How about Gladstone?’ and he laughed and goes, ‘All right, sounds good.’” So what’s the origin there? “I always thought it was a funny name. It was almost like, ‘I’m glad that I’m stoned.’ You know, I’m a comedian, so that was what I thought.

“Doctor Dave,” a new medical drama series starring Dave Coulier, who played Joey Gladstone on the sitcom “Full House,” is in development from Dan Merchant’s Going Local Productions. Coulier and Merchant co-created.
Coulier plays Dave, “a beloved pediatrician who uses humor and compassion to care for his patients and for the diverse and eccentric ensemble of co-workers at a struggling Detroit hospital.”
“I first worked with Dave on our radio show comedy ‘Live + Local’ for Great American Pure Flix, but it was at a time when he had just endured a very heavy personal loss,” Merchant, who will serve as showrunner, says in a statement. “Dave was so candid about this loss and shared his pain in such a gentle way – and then turned it on when the cameras rolled and made me laugh so hard… just got me thinking about the kind of show I’d love...

In it, Saget and Stamos are seen smiling with costars Dave Coulier, Andrea Barber, Jodie Sweetin, and Candace Cameron Bure in front of the Tanner family home in San Francisco.
“One of the last pictures of all of us in San Fran in front of the iconic Painted Lady,” Stamos wrote in the caption.
The nostalgic image is arriving shortly before the second anniversary of Saget’s death at 65 in January 2022.
Stamos wrote about his friend in his new memoir, If You Would Have Told Me.
In the book, Stamos said that he is “still not ready to accept” that Saget is gone. “Not sure I ever will be,” he adds. “I try to imagine him still on the road, doing what he loves. He’s standing onstage,...

“We’re not allowed to talk about Scrubs.” That was the consensus that co-stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison reached almost immediately during the Aug. 1 episode of their Scrubs rewatch podcast, Fake Doctors, Real Friends. The pair, like many actors with thriving audio platforms, had been unsure of how to approach their side gig during the SAG-AFTRA strike and initially segued into repeats. Not only is there the obvious fear of speaking out of turn during Hollywood’s labor crisis — see recent foot-in-mouth comments from Stephen Amell, Jamie Lee Curtis and Zachary Levi, each of whom immediately backpedaled — podcasting is proving to be a strike gray area despite the union clearing up guidelines. Mostly.

A new iteration of the Full House series was a brewing possibility when actor Bob Saget suddenly died in 2022. Jodie Sweetin, who played Stephanie Tanner, said despite the loss, the cast could reunite someday in some capacity.
“I don’t know that we’re done with the Full / Fuller legacy,” Sweetin said on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast.
“But I do think it’s going to have to be some time from now after Bob,” she said. “I think that would be a big loss. I think, obviously it’s something that would, could be dealt with at some point.”
“But I do think that definitely is a big hole in all of our hearts right now, so we’ll see,” she added. “We always joke that we’re up for a Golden Girls-type version of Kimmy and Steph and DJ living somewhere in Miami wearing Mumus on the Lanai.

Sweet Magnolias so far is having a good run, with the third season out for fans of the three independent women living in Serenity, South Carolina, and how the town has shaped their personalities. It made us wonder how the readers could explore more shows in the same genre, older and new ones, to understand the nuances of each show. “Full House” creator Jeff Franklin is going down memory lane on Dave Coulier‘s new series, “Full House Rewind”. Franklin appeared on the first episode of the PodCo series, where he and Coulier reminisced about the pilot episode of the popular family comedy, which starred the late Bob Saget, John Stamos, Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen.
During the episode, which Coulier dedicated to Saget, Franklin revealed Sweetin was the first actor cast on “Full House”. He shared that after they held the first cast table read, Stamos was ready to get off the show because he was concerned Sweetin and the younger actors would take the spotlight.
“I remembered our first table read,” Coulier said.
“Where there’s a room full of studio and network executives. They were all there to see Stamos, I think,” Franklin recalled.
“Jodie just stole the show,” Coulier remembered.

Jeff Franklin, the creator of Full House, is looking back at how the show began and recalled a moment when John Stamos almost backed out of the series.
The writer-producer-director appeared on the first episode of Dave Coulier’s new podcast, Full House Rewind, which they dedicated to the late Bob Saget.
While talking about the show’s first table read with the actors, Franklin noted that there was a “room full of studio and network executives and everybody who could possibly be there. They were all there to see Stamos, I think.”
But Franklin recalled that “Jodie [Sweetin] just stole the whole thing” with her humor, which he said left Stamos upset because he was afraid the younger stars were going to steal the spotlight.
Coulier chimed in and said he remembers “walking out with John” afterward when the Scream Queens actor told him, “The whole show’s gonna be her.

John Stamos faced the intensity of Da Bomb Beyond Insanity sauce on “Hot Ones” hosted by Sean Evans, and the “Full House” alum joked that the sauce killed his late costar Bob Saget.
“This is what killed Saget,” Stamos joked after struggling through the eighth sauce in the gauntlet. “He would do that joke if he was alive to me. He wouldn’t have waited a year and a half either. He would say the worst things.”
Saget died January 2022 of severe blunt head trauma from a fall in a Florida hotel room, though the exact circumstances of his death were never fully made public after his family won the right to keep autopsy details under seal.
Stamos recalled several memories with his “Full House” costar, including a trip to a strip club with the trio of guys — including Dave Coulier, who played Joey — where they were announced immediately upon entering the establishment.
