One of her most memorable roles was Miss Birdie Hicks, one of the main antagonists of the Ma and Pa Kettle series. She first played this part in
The Egg and I (1947) and later reprised it in three more films:
Ma and Pa Kettle (1949),
Ma and Pa Kettle at the Fair (1952), and
Ma and Pa Kettle at Waikiki (1955).
