Creed III arrives several years after its predecessor, and its directed by Michael B. Jordan, starring Jonathan Majors, Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson.
Michael B. Jordan writes and directs Creed III, third and brilliant installment of the franchise, at least on a technical level. The Rocky trail continues with this updated boxing saga.
Creed III Movie Review
Very well cared for in its technical aspects, with a script that knows how to take care of the definition of the characters, make them evolve, and, as a whole, knows how to maintain an even balance between the technical aspects and telling a story.
As ever, excellent slow-motion images of fights that, thanks to an excellent high-contrast photography, make for an almost perfect film for fans of this sport.
For others, not so much.
Creed III is clearly framed around the aspects of being a part of the community of Los Angeles,...

Chicago – Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors are two of the hottest featured players in film right now and teamed up over the weekend in “Creed III,” the continuation of the Adonis Creed (Jordan) story, son of Apollo Creed from the Rocky Balboa Universe. Majors portrays Damian, the latest challenger to Creed’s reign.
Damian Anderson was a fellow juvenile detention brother to Adonis, before the troubled son of Apollo was taken off the streets by Mama Creed (Phylicia Rashad). Damian served 18 years for a gun situation that involved Adonis, and “Dame” was the Golden Gloves champion who never got his shot. When he emerges from prison, he expects Adonis to give him that shot, and eventually they face off where they should have been years before … in the boxing ring. Tessa Thompson also reprises her role as Bianca Taylor, the singing star wife of Adonis.

In between moments of men barrelling toward each other in the 2023 Super Bowl, we got a look at men pummelling each other in the "Creed III" trailer. The upcoming boxing drama -- the ninth entry in the "Rocky" movie series that began in 1976 -- follows Adonis "Donnie" Creed (Michael B. Jordan) seven years on from 2018's "Creed II." Donnie is now a successful professional boxer and has settled into a happy home life with his partner Bianca Taylor (Tessa Thompson). But this seemingly perfect life is threatened when a face from Donnie's past turns up to cause trouble.
That face -- and the film's new villain, with no known ties to the "Rocky" franchise -- comes in the form of "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" star Jonathan Majors, who plays Damian "Dame" Anderson. Fresh out of prison, the former boxing prodigy has a point to prove to his childhood friend Donnie.

There were plenty of justifiable skeptics when it was announced the "Rocky" franchise was going to continue with "Creed," but heading into its third film, the initial naysayers have all been humbled. The story of Adonis "Donnie" Creed (Michael B. Jordan), the so-called illegitimate son of the late and former world champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), is as deeply complicated and moving as the original series starring Sylvester Stallone, but thrives beyond sports movie tropes and motivational montages. The "Creed" series performs a powerful dance, one that intertwines the beloved legacy of a film series with a wholly unique story, as well as one that weaves the violence of sport and street survival as equally important. As with any good "Rocky" film, the "Creed" series also introduced a powerful successor to Adrian Balboa (Talia Shire), with the talented musician Bianca Taylor (Tessa Thompson) becoming someone worth fighting for.
