- His divorce trial from his first wife in 1940 received considerable publicity and was the source of much gossip.
- Although he played John Hubbard's father in The Mummy's Tomb (1942), he was only four years his senior in real life.
- In August 1940 he tangled physically with two sheriff's deputies who were attempting to arrest him for drunk driving. Foran lost the encounter, then good-naturedly paid his $250 fine and was freed.
- Has a star on the Walk of Fame on the East side of the 1600 block of Vine Street.
- Buried at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery, Mission Hills, CA.
- Four sons: Michael and Patrick by his first marriage to Ruth Piper Hollingsworth; Sean by his marriage to Carole Gallagher; Thomas by his marriage to Susanne Rosser.
