- Michael Garrison was born on December 19, 1922 in New Jersey, USA. He was a writer and producer, known for The Wild Wild West (1965), The Crowded Sky (1960) and The Dark at the Top of the Stairs (1960). He died on August 17, 1966 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
- He was hosting a housewarming at the new home he had built with help from his successful production of the series The Wild Wild West (1965) when he slipped on a spilled drink on his new marble staircase and fell down the stairs to his death.
- Carpet had been laid on the marble steps just a few days before Garrison's death but Garrison had it removed after believing the bare marble showing would look more impressive. It is speculated that if carpet had been there, the impact of the fall to Garrison's skull might have lessened enough for it not to be a fatal impact.
