Over “The Crown’s” four seasons, the halls of Buckingham Palace have become familiar visual signifiers for both the grandeur and the pressure placed upon the royal family. But in the third episode of this most recent season, “Fairytale,” cinematographer Adriano Goldman and director Benjamin Caron stretched the limits of the show’s visual language to create — and then to destroy — Princess Diana’s (Emma Corrin) fairytale fantasies.

Much of the episode is given over to Diana slowly realizing that, like many princesses stuck in a castle before her, she has fallen into a trap. But Goldman and Caron opened up the ways they shoot their Buckingham Palace sets to show how the demands of the Crown consume everyone on the eve of the fateful marriage.

They force the jaws of the trap open wide with a pre-credits sequence of Diana’s night out with her friends after Charles (Josh O’Connor) proposes to her.

Helena Bonham Carter and Peep Show star David Mitchell are among those cast in BBC comedy The Cleaner. Written and headlined by Inbetweeners and Taskmaster star Greg Davies, the series is a remake of a German comedy. It centers on Paul ‘Wicky’ Wickstead who mops up crime scenes after the police have concluded their detective work. Other cast includes Stephanie Cole (Still Open All Hours), Donald Sumpter (Game Of Thrones), Shobu Kapoor (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Ruth Madeley (Years And Years), Layton Williams (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie musical), Zita Sattar (Casualty), Georgie Glen (The Crown), Bill Skinner (Ted Lasso), and Esmonde Cole (Still So Awkward). With its recently launched fourth season, “The Crown” reached the British royal family’s Princess Diana-era, a tumultuous time that many viewers of the Netflix drama remember playing out in the news in real-life. But for those who aren’t familiar with the facts, Britain’s culture minister wants a clear warning label that “The Crown” is fiction.

“It’s a beautifully produced work of fiction. So as with other TV productions, Netflix should be very clear at the beginning it is just that,” Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said in a story published by U.K. newspaper the Mail on Sunday. “Without this, I fear a generation of viewers who did not live through these events may mistake fiction for fact.”

Dowden told the paper he plans to write to Netflix this week regarding the addition of a fiction label.

The Crown is about to welcome Gillian Anderson into the fold as a polarizing British politician.

The Sex Education and The X-Files actress is set to play the controversial Margaret Thatcher, and has opened up about the role in the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar.

"I had to get to a point," she said of the preparation process.

"Where it's nothing to do with my opinions of her policies, of her actions.

"It is only about her as a human being and her motivation as a politician and as a mother.

Anderson worked with her partner Peter Morgan, who created the series, and they made a pact when she took on the role.

"For [my and Peter's] own sanity, and actually for the benefit of the relationship, we had very clear boundaries: 'I am not going to comment on the script, but you are not allowed to comment on the performance!'"

But, as anyone with an understanding of U.K. history knows, it is anything but smooth sailing when Margaret Thatcher (played here by Gillian Anderson) becomes Prime Minister.

Netflix dropped the teaser for the fourth season of “The Crown” Tuesday, previewing Emma Corrin’s Princess Diana embarking on a fairy tale with Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor) that the world knows all too well ended in tragedy.

The 1-minute, 32-second clip — which you can view here and via the video above — is narrated with the words said by an archbishop presiding over Diana and Charles’ memorable wedding day on July 29, 1981.

“Here is the stuff of which fairy tales are made,” the voice says, as scenes of the two meeting and falling in love are shown. “A prince and princess on their wedding day. But fairytales usually end at this point with the simple phrase, ‘They lived happily ever after.'”
