An award-winning film producer and writer and former senior exec of various major public companies including Sony and Chairman or CEO of a number of large independent film and television drama production and sales companies including Portman (High Hopes and A Woman of Substance) and Zenith (Hamish Macbeth and Morse).
Most recently he was producer on the hit show Staged for BBC One. His other work is seen regularly on Netflix, HBO, CBS, BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and elsewhere. Films produced, financed or distributed by Victor's companies have been directed by Oscar Winners Juan José Campanella and Marleen Gorris, Oscar Nominees Agnieszka Holland, Mike Leigh and David O. Russell and BAFTA winners Jack Gold, Mike Newell, and Gavin Millar. Actors in these productions include Academy Award winners Christoph Waltz, Judi Dench and Leonardo diCaprio as well as Jenny Agutter, Hugh Grant, John Hurt, Alan Rickman, Diana Rigg, Michael Sheen, David Tennant and Samuel L. Jackson.
Writers on his productions include award winners Beryl Bainbridge, William Boyd, Malcolm Bradbury, Christopher Hampton, Arthur Hopcraft, and Charles Wood.
His productions have won over fifty awards including BAFTAs, EMMYs, European Film Awards, the Critics' Prize at Venice and the Prix Europa.
In development are adaptations of novels by Graham Greene, William Golding, Michael Morpurgo and Samantha Shannon plus plays by Shakespeare and Marlowe and with world class screenwriters including William Boyd.
By using experiences and knowledge garnered from his work with the BBC (where he started his career and where is he working again forty years later), Sony (in film, games and music) and majors including Columbia, Universal and Fox, he also mentors new producers on their projects. As well as teaching at Oxford University he coaches potential applicants especially those from non-traditional backgrounds. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
His autobiographical trilogy See Me, Sue Me, Sad Me! aka The Rage Quartet, may, subject to the lawyers, appear in 2022.
