In October of 2021, Amazon Studios announced it was acquiring Trevor Beck Frost and Melissa Lesh’s “Wildcat” for a price nearing 20 million, a staggering sum for a doc of its kind. Produced by 30West, the film tells the story of former British soldier Harry Turner and conservationist Samantha Wicker, who help heal each other while caring for a small ocelot wildcat in the deep Peruvian rainforest.
This is Frost and Lesh’s first feature film. Frost comes from a still photography background, with work published in National Geographic and the New York Times, while Lesh has previously worked with short films. The documentary has picked up considerable steam on the brink of awards season, having recently been nominated for two IDA Documentary Awards for editing and score (Patrick Jonsson).

IDFA is going wild for Wildcat.
The documentary from Amazon Studios screened a couple of times over the weekend at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, to resounding effect, filmmakers Melissa Lesh and Trevor Frost tell Deadline. Screenings on Friday and Sunday took place at the Pathé Tuschinski Theatre, a glorious old movie palace that rivals Mann’s Chinese in splendor.
“To have two standing ovations in a theater like that,” Lesh commented at a party after Sunday’s event, “on the biggest screen we’ve screened on yet, and to have the audience so engaged and moved, I feel like it’s been our best screenings yet.”
The Pathé Tuschinski Theatre
Frost added, “When we were standing in the lobby as people were going into the movie theater, I just couldn’t believe how many people were around me. They said they had well over 450 people in the theater...

Gareth Emery‘s third studio album, 100 Reasons To Live, wouldn’t ordinarily be that deserving of criticism. Nobody would argue that it’s a collection of songs that challenge the electronic music status quo, but nothing in the album is a flat-out assault on the senses, either.
Nonetheless, Emery orchestrated a stunt that dug himself into a hole before the album even came out. The trance superstar recently teamed up with fellow Englishman Ashley Wallbridge for a farcical side project called CVNT5, setting out to make a mockery of Edm excess through track releases, videos and web content.
As entertaining as it was, the CVNT5 project implied that Emery’s own music has more integrity than the mainstream dance music he attempted to parody – but if he feels qualified to make such commentary, he should be prepared to hear that what he’s delivered in the form of 100 Reasons To Live is itself,...

First conceived all the way back in 2001, Armin Van Buuren’s A State of Trance has become a staple in the lives of electronic music fans the world over. The weekly radio show draws in roughly 20 million listeners from around the world, as people everywhere flock to hear what new songs the trance god himself has chosen for the latest episode.
A State of Trance is much more than just a radio show though, as every year it also becomes a live show, with a jaw-dropping lineup of artists, superb production and, of course, top-notch tunes. The most recent outing for the event, A State of Trance 750, hit Toronto’s Enercare Centre over the weekend for what was, as expected, another unforgettable night brought to us by Mr. Van Buuren.

Trance legend Gareth Emery has been quiet on the release front lately, but given that he’s got a new album in the works, we’re about to start hearing a lot more from the British producer. While details on a release date and what exactly we’ll be getting are scarce, we do know that it will drop this year and now, we have a taste of what to expect.
Earlier this week, Emery released “Until We Meet Again,” a collaboration from the album that features Ben Gold. This is hardly the first time the two have worked together, and as is always the case when they join forces, the results are impressive.
“Until We Meet Again” fits comfortably into the uplifting trance category, with classic Emery melodies and a big room energy to get the crowd going. While it’s not quite as progressive as what we heard on Drive,...
